Pat Buchanan recalls those heady days when it was "Springtime for Hitler". Pat might even want to sing along with Mel Brooks, "Don’t be stupid, be a smarty, Come on and join the Nazi Party."
As the vets of World War II pass on, the next generation has fewer personal witnesses to tell the next generation their stories. But the veterans of WWII are quite proud of their contribution and sacrifices. Buchanan’s claims are an insult to them, and their heroism. Pat himself chose not to fight in Vietnam. Chickenhawks screech the loudest.
Pat Buchanan has lied about the war these vets fought, and he has lied about the victims of WWII and he should be forced to confront his lies. IOKIYAR for Buchanan to falsely rewrite history. But anyone else who claimed the things Buchanan has would not be allowed on the corporate teevee. MSNBC Nuclear Power Tee Vee may want to consider letting these falsehoods go unchallenged. Buchanan has always been a corrupt political operative, and he is an even worse historian. But he does love his fuhrer.
On Sept. 1, 1939, 70 years ago, the German Army crossed the Polish frontier. On Sept. 3, Britain declared war.
Herr Buchanan leaves out a few details about the invasion of Poland. Germany attacked Poland using a "False Flag Op" as a pretext for war. This is similar to Weapons of Mass Destruction as a pretext for the Irak War.
The SS took twelve prisoners out of Buchenwald, drove them to the Polish border and forced them to take poison after putting on Polish uniforms. The corpses were shot. An SS Officer yelled in Polish into a radio that they had come to invade Germany, and then the SS fled.
On September 1, 1939, Hitler told the Nazi Reichstag that Poland had tried to invade Germany, and the Wehrmacht was returning fire since 5:45 AM. Actually, in a carefully planned and highly mobile attack codenamed Fall Weiss (Case White) planned by Generalfeldmarschall Walther von Brauchitsch, German land, sea, and air forces were moving rapidly into Poland.
The reason given for Hitler’s attack by Buchanan does include comparing the populations of Ocean City with Danzig (Gdansk) Poland. In 1939 Dantzig had 348,000 people. Ocean City has about 7000 people now.
The German-Polish war had come out of a quarrel over a town the size of Ocean City, Md., in summer. Danzig, 95 percent German, had been severed from Germany at Versailles in violation of Woodrow Wilson’s principle of self-determination.
Pat does ask the big question. What evidence is there that his beloved Fuhrer wanted to conquer the world.
But where is the evidence that Adolf Hitler, whose victims as of March 1939 were a fraction of Gen. Pinochet’s, or Fidel Castro’s, was out to conquer the world?
I suppose there is Hitler’s book "Mein Kampf", where he explains how he could conquer the world. There were victims in the concentration camps with tens of thousands of non fascist Germans and Jews imprisoned, tortured and mudered. But there is also Hitler’s military aid to the fascist Dictator Franco, fighting the Spanish Civil War. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed.
Buchanan remains convinced that Hitler wanted peace, and he gives reasons such as Hitler built only two engine non-strategic bombers.
If Hitler wanted the world, why did he not build strategic bombers, instead of two-engine Dorniers and Heinkels that could not even reach Britain from Germany?
I am guessing he would have if he could have. For the record, these bombers did attack Britain. During the Battle of Britain, the British Spitfires and Hurricanes and antiair fire shot down 82 Dornier DO 17 and 131 Heinkel HE 111 bombers, while damaging many others.
But Pat’s deconstruction of Adolph’s military strategy includes Pat reading Hitler’s mind even after all this time.
Hitler wanted to end the war in 1940…Hitler had never wanted war with Poland…Indeed, why would he want war when, by 1939, he was surrounded by allied, friendly or neutral neighbors…
Pat does not give the reason why the greatest criminal in history wanted genocide of Jews either. I will give my reason why Hitler wanted war. He was a criminal psychopath, who may have even murdered his own niece with whom he was having an sexual affair. Buchanan is a psychpath also, promoting his toxic hate and lies to a national audience. Perhaps, Buchanan’s and MSNBC’s corporate sponsors should be notified.

Rather than defend Buchanan, I am highlighting the flaws in your diary.
The video of spring time, call Hitler his beloved Fuhrer, refer to him as Herr Buchanan, accuse him of being a psychopath, antisemitic, being a Liar, rather than to say that he lied, without expanding further, or including references.
He supported the vietnam war without serving.. so you call him a chickenhawk. How do you reconcile this with the unmentioned fact that Buchanan was against the War on Iraq?
You point to the whole book “Mein Kampf” rather than give a sourced quote, but you said he writes about how he could conquer the world. “Could” does not equate with “solid fact”.
At this point the reader must make a choice: trust you, go tramping through a whole book, or discount your argument.
To extrapolate Hitler’s intent is synthesis. A form of mind reading as it were. No one has found where he wrote this as a general or specific plan to conquer the world as opposed to world dominance.
Aid to Franco, his allies, or and body counts from concentration camps where people were killed or died happened at the end of war are ex-post facto. They don’t point to intent or have anything to do with the argument far as I can see..

Demonizing Pat Buchanan because you have disagreements about versions of history doesn’t make your case. According to the wiki, there are two camps of theorists, the functionalists which pat would be a part, and intentionalist theorists, which you would be apart of. It’s strange how history changes as the truth bubbles up. There isn’t anything wrong with revisionism as long as you are in search of the truth, and not selectively cherry picking it to justify your ideology.
If you look objectively at the “Big Picture” rather that zeroing in on minutia of individual battles and the little sparks that started them, as reasons the war started you won’t see the hidden hands that really are responsible. War is always about the grand strategy. False Flags are always used when provocation attempts fail, and that is a Universal tactic to obtain justification for starting wars.
There were four major powers and Brittan was falling apart from their failing attempts to expand their own empire. It was an ascendant Germany that scared the hell out of Churchill (descendent UK)
The arguments between the Major Bankers, the industrialists, and the politicians at that time was how the world pie was going to get sliced up and dished out. Using the treaty of Versailles, they chopped up the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and a resentful Germany lost it’s much needed sea ports.
What wasn’t available for public consideration was the financial support of Bankers and Industrialists for Hitler’s plans. This was a reactionary war for access to trade routes, but it was really convenient for Hitler to avail himself as a frontman and patsy to project the public hate onto. Someone was benefitting from his antisemitism. His desire was National: restore Germany to it’s previous level of economic growth after it’s great loss and international shaming. Pool all available capital resources, labor and scientific efforts, and remove internal threats.
He viewed the German Jews as a threat, allied to their own tribe, and not Germany. He associated them with the Int’l bankers responsible for the treaty, and the traitorous Jewish bolsheviks that killed the Tzar and led the revolution which all told killed 60 million. (also financed by jewish bankers)- There is precious little outrage paid for this genocide. IMHO

Because of our our own torturers, I have been doing a lot of reading on WWII and the Nuremberg trials. What I’m learning is making me question everything. We were spoon-fed propaganda back then too apparently, and Roosevelt needed Hitler to be evil to get Americans and the troops to support the war.
Afterward, we meted out victors justice and wrote the history, and much of what they taught us are lies.
Read about our trials at Dachau, and see if you agree. Britian engaged in the same type of shameful military tribunals.

Our own ship, the Lusitania, a supposed “passenger” ship that was sunk by a a German U-boat was was officially classified as an Armed Merchant Marine ship, but unofficially reclassified as a passenger ship, and yet still carrying arms illegally.
