In an interview (NBC) Obama said he has brought together and listened to economic advisors from all of the modern Republican and Democratic Administrations as well as campaigns, e.g. McCain’s, and these people are in consensus about what needs to be done to initiate economic recovery.
This is the most troubling thing I have heard Obama say because the policies these people have recommended are exactly the policies that have set the American economy on the road to destruction. For Obama to think these slugs now know how to fix the mess their ideas created is truly frightening for they have been dead wrong about virtually everything in the past. He really needs to listen to other economists who have not been partisan to the tremendous national disaster* that is now the American economy.
*To anyone who thinks it would be more accurate to call it a "cluster-fuck," I wouldn’t argue.

You are correct. Consensus among thieves would indicate fewer security guards at Banks.
Personally, I am very frightened by what he is saying about the “entitlement” programs. Unless he reins in the fraud and waste and get the insurance companies out them…that’s fine, but if he takes the funding out of them, we are going to have the most vulnerable people starving in the streets, or their homes, if they’ve got them.
If Obama completes Bush’s mission to dismantle Social Security when the corporations have stolen everyone’s retirement pensions, it is going to be a disaster. I just don’t get it. The boomers paid double into SS since Reagan and they still call them “entitlements”????
I expect everything ever contributed to SS by the boomers has been spent primarily on wars, bank and industry bailouts. The fact that the latter was gotten away with nary a peep from the boomer population has become a precedent for future plunder of the treasury by the idle entitled rich. That’s how you get rich, btw. Refuse to pay your bills with impunity and maintain access to other people’s money.
Yes, calling these “entitlements” bothers me, too, at some level, but I think that’s mostly because Republicans have succeeded to some extent in making “entitlements” a dirty word.
If you pay for something, you are entitled to its benefits. That seems perfectly just to me. -s-
