This despicable piece of propaganda pretends to make the point for torture as a means to get information. What is lacking from all the media coverage I’ve heard is what is the most glaringly obvious observation: Where is the proof that the peripheral bit of intelligence gleaned by torture could absolutely not have been gotten some other way? The time line proves the hypocrisy. First, we torture. Then, we look for a rationale to defend the indefensible. In the unforgettable words of Madeleine Albright, “The price was worth it.”  (In reply to the question, “Madame Secretary, how do you defend the deaths of at least 500,000 Iraqui children as a direct result of American bombings and sanctions?”)
