Maria Selva (G) is running for a special Texas state senate election (CD-6). Democrat winner Mario Gallegos died within days of the 2012 election. The special election to fill the seat is presumed to take place Jan. 22nd-26th. Results of the election may not be known till March of next year.

Maria seeks to tackle issues surrounding the keystone XL pipeline and fracking. She also stands for a citizen’s review board with subpoena powers, single payer programs, allowing the blocked expanded Medicare funds to come through, and increased governmental regulation of GMOs and water contaminants.
