Oh, wait, I was trapped with a huge crowd outside of the mall, left out in the freezing cold, kept away from the president, dissapointed and angry, trying not to get crushed to death.

Me too. I find myself on the side of Grover. He and other republicans are working to get us out of Afghanistan by July 2011 and they are thinking of running on it for 2012… My God,, we may have someone to vote for after all. Wait, they are the hated republicans.

Y’know, from the day he got elected and started assembling his Team ‘o Change from the same Fatcat/Warmonger Whore Industrial Complex that destroyed our world, that was to me the previous troubling splinters of doubt turned into a clue-by-four to the skull. And of course the piece of lying crypto-fascist fuck went on to outdo my worst apprehensions at every turn.
Looking back on that inauguration day, I’m still struck by the impossible euphoria vs. the speech he gave. Its downbeatness and brevity couldn’t have been less suited to the occasion. In fact it was just plain weird.
In retrospect I almost chalk it up to conscience of guilt. He knew he was going to spend his presidency kicking every person in that enormous hopeful throng square in the face, and some shred of humanity in him was actually ashamed.
Anyway, I prefer that speech in lolcat version: “O hai. Sry but I haz to fuck you even wurss than prevous guy. I iz evil whore too, but I haz good smile. Kthxbai and Ceiling Cat bless amerka.”

Mine, too. Feared it would be bad, but couldn’t imagine this bad. (And now due to get worse.)

If that was it, then it was a very thin shred of humanity.
I think it really says something about the depth of the fury (and worry) when someone who identifies herself as a “babe” uses terms like “crypto-fascist fuck”. I know that ladies get to use harsh language and I’m all for it. I’m just saying that when they use it in this manner, it’s very telling about the true state of things.

Thanks econobuzz for motivating me to re-read that comment thread. A good case could be made not just for a metaphor here, but foreshadowing. Already on inauguration day there were those who would not tolerate a negative word that might cast Obama in a bad light. And already on inauguration day there were a few willing to speak up when things were not as they appeared to be. Funny how the next two years have followed from that initial dynamic.
Then don’t read it. Nothing worse than a self-appointed censor.
Everything sounds better in lolcat. O should consider using it for his SOTU.
Actually, Grover’s the guy who invented the whole “let’s cut taxes to force cuts in social spending” gimmick that the Republicans have as their motto, so I don’t think I’ll follow him all the way.
