As I walked down to Zuccotti Park/Liberty Square in the predawn hours of October 14, I could hear “the people’s mic” and the people’s resounding cheers over three blocks away. . . but the biggest cheer came soon after I wedged my way into the park. . . .
[A day outside has eaten my writing time, and my sleeping time, so please bear with my mostly vocal conversation today.]
Oh, and in case you are jonesing for more nuclear news, the NRC finally got around to posting the video and transcript to the outreach sessions from last week that I wrote about earlier. The “pro” nuclear video was up last Friday, but the concerned citizens panel was just posted this morning, eight days after the event. (And they don’t make it easy. I have no direct link; you have to go to the “Spotlight” section on the left side of the NRC homepage. Warning, the link there will open a Silverlight player and auto-download a PDF.)

your opening gave me chills!
It felt good to be there when the cheers went up & the band just caused me to break into a huge smile.
I am on my way up to Times Square. Hoping mobile communications are a bit more responsive than they were parts of yesterday.
And yes, in the spirit of the day, I am wearing white. . . after labor day!
OWSters: OWSt. DESPOTUS Baracketeer A$$A$$IN$-N-THIEVE$!
Occupy orlando had an excellent turnount in a town that is just plain lazy. Beautiful day in The City Beautiful.
I see you’re a radical this week – you’re wearing your beret!
First of all, thanks… as usual. Secondly, I’m just going to take your use of the word “felt” as a cue to be playful and notice your beret. I don’t recall that you’ve worn one for your video posts before, so is it a nod perhaps to past resistance movements? Thirdly, I like it.
Heh. . . and thanks.
The story of the beret:
A beret has been my usual winter head covering for almost 20 yrs now. But no, I have not worn it in a video before.
The weather was a bit crazy when I went out early Friday morning. Almost raining, humid as hell, warm, but windy. It was too sticky for the hat at first, but as the day wore on, it rained a bit and cooled off. I eventually put on the beret.
When I got home to record the video, not only was my hair a mess, I had a big red mark across my forehead. So, I decided to just stay beret-ed.
But it did occur to me it had an air of Vive la Resistance–and I am happy to let you see it that way.
I’m a radical every week–but this week I was a radical with a cold head and bad hair ;)
