(AR)Anthony J. Wiener, candidate for Mayor of New York City, was presented today with the Anthony Wiener Lifetime Achievement Award at being a dick. The award, named for Anthony Wiener after his last Twitter flashing scandal, was presented to Wiener after the story of his latest sexting fiasco went pubic … err, public. Mr. Wiener said that weathering his latest crisis will make him a better mayor, and when presented with the celebratory brass phallus and balls, said, “Aww, guys, you shouldn’t have. Seriously, you shouldn’t have.”

Actually, Anthony–YOU shouldn’t have! You want to be a better mayor? STOP HAVING S**T FOR BRAINS!

(Note to self: find Anthony Wiener’s Porn Name Generator.)

I realize that this week’s cartoon isn’t very complex, but after I saw John Cuneo’s New Yorker cover, I realized that nothing could top it. This is one cover that really stands out, up and out there!

In any case, it is time to announce my summer hiatus. From August to early September, I will either be prepping for conventions or actually attending them. I will be at Otakon at the Baltimore Convention Center, August 8-11, where I will have pictures in the Art Show and will be taking pictures of cosplayers and having a good time. August 23-25 will see me at Intervention Con, at the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville, in Artists Alley. And from September 13 through September 15, I will be at AnimeUSA at the Washington Wardman Park Marriott, once again in the Art Show and schmoozing. We will return on September 23 and we hope we will have an ADDITIONAL FEATURE to share with you then! Watch this space and my Facebook page for further announcements!

Fred and Bert Squirrel join me in wishing you a great summer! See you soon!

Triumph of the 47%

  • “Nothing is classier than good sportsmanship, Mitt.”–The 47%

Well, a lot has happened in the last two weeks. We had an election. It did not turn out to be the squeaker that all the pundits and newsies hoped it would be. It did not turn out to be the rout that FoxNews, Newsmax, and the Romney campaign thought it would be.

Instead, it turned out to be a decisive victory for the President and for the 47% that the Baseball Glove so derided. Quite frankly, I still have no idea how so many people are actually fooled by GOP empty promises and failed policies, but Obama only got 52% of the vote. But I ain’t kicking.

Mittford still is. Showing sportsmanship, good sense, and a sense of fair play, he’s been mouthing off about how Obama won because of “gifts” he gave to poor people, students, old farts, immigrants–you know, all those people who just “don’t count”. Class act, Willard! President Obama is going to pardon a turkey this week. But it’s YOU who really needs it.

And last weekend was AnimeUSA. I had a great time in Artists Alley, meeting all the fans and cosplayers. The two panels I gave on Planning Your Manga and Neo-Traditional Inking went splendidly–although I seem to have forgotten my collection of pens and brush pens, so if anyone came across them, please contact me at gregoriusu01 AT gmail.com. I’ll be highly grateful. I’d like to give shoutouts to all the staff at AUSA, my fellow artists and all the cosplayers I photographed (and some I didn’t) whose pictures I’ve uploaded to my flickr account, far too many to mention (my photo, cosplaying as a well-fed but sleek seal is here). But I would like to give one to Kevin and Peter of A KAWAII BOUTIQUE, who had a great weekend doing their first Artists Alley–Kevin is a friend from DeviantArt and helped me last year at Katsucon to learn the ropes and also give me a break to get to the formal ball at that convention and this one. THX guys, glad I could help you get started on a great venture.

Now, Obama, it’s time to have your feet held to the fire. BWAHAHA!

Vote Early, Vote Often, but VOTE!

  • Need I say WHICH legislatures?

It’s going to be a tougher election than it should be. Tough voter ID laws have been enacted in far too many states specifically designed to make it tough for “brown” people, poor people and college students to vote. Two important states, Ohio and Florida, have precipitously cut back their early voting hours. And the United States is still filled with idiots who think Barack Obama is an atheist Muslim born in Kenya.

Mitt Romney SHOULD lose. After all, his entire plan for the country is to bankrupt it and all citizens with incomes less than a million a year and then sell it off to China. That’s his M.O. You’d think people would have caught on to it. Certainly not the Fox News-watching crowd–you know, the ones who didn’t know how big Hurricane Sandy had gotten and when they DID hear, thought: “Good–it’s time for them America-hating New Yorkers to suffer like the rest of us.”

Chris Christie got thrown under the bus for actually deigning to appear with President Obama as they toured the devastation in New Jersey. The GOP better hope the bus doesn’t overturn–Christie is a big bump in the road.

So on Tuesday, as one commentator said, America gets the choice of turning back the clock–by fifty years. Let’s hope that we as a nation are not THAT INSANE. You liberals thinking you won’t vote because you are mad at Obama for not closing Gitmo, not getting universal health and waging war by remote control–think of the alternative. Now go out and vote.

THIS WEEK, yours truly will be in the Artists Alley at ANIMEUSA in Washington DC. Anyone who is an animefan and is going to the con, please drop by my table! I’ll also be giving panels on inking your comics and how to plan your manga. And, in connection with this, I inaugurate my new Facebook Fanpage. LIKE it and get news about my other artworks as they are produced and get progress reports on my graphic novel HANAKO-SAN, now being storyboarded.

Have a good week and VOTE. See you soon.

Please to remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason ever should be forgot…

This week in appalling…

Students protest the football coaches being suspended--before the end of the season.

After the bowl games, heck, cut 'em loose...

Hey, did you hear about Penn State? They’re leaving the NCAA conference to join NAMBLA (ba-dum-tishhhhhh!) 2000 students rioted because of the firings, suspensions and resignations over the child rape scandal. Hey, we didn’t know this was a Catholic school! (ba-dum!)

In other news, Michelle Bachman thinks that poor people ought to give up two Happy Meals so that rich people don’t have to pay 3% more taxes. Unfortunately, that will wreck the Republican jobs program. Social safety net? We should look to the example of Communist China! They don’t do anything so socialistic!

Happy Veteran’s Day! Mitt Romney thinks you haven’t done enough to serve your country. Let’s privatize the Veteran’s Administration so that you can have the glory of paying American health insurance companies and help them make … even bigger profits. It’s only patriotic.

Waterboarding? Seven out of nine Republican presidential hopefuls agree it isn’t torture. Let’s rehabilitate those Japanese who were hung for it after WWII–oops, they did that against Americans–damn, they should have been drawn and quartered as well!

Berlusconi steps down in Italy–he wants to spend his time helping to defend Herman Cain. I was right last week, more harassment accusations popped up out of Herman’s woodwork. “My wife will tell you–she never heard of any of these things.” Right, Herman. Read the rest of this entry →

Lloyd Blankfein, Vampire–Edward and Bella he ain’t, but he does suck something…

Lloyd Blankfein, bloodsucking in God's service...

It’s that time of year again–the time that we give thanks that the Christmas advertising season is finally 2/3 over. Remember when the Christmas season didn’t really begin until the kickoff at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Or am I showing my age again. With the creep of the merchandising seasons, by 15 years ago, the Christmas season started showing up around Hallowe’en–Thanksgiving? what’s that–all we can sell is a bunch of turkeys that say fresh but are hard as the iceberg that sunk the Titanic. Now Columbus Day rolls around and all the stores have Kris Kringle in them! What with the Great Recession, I’m expecting for Santa to show up next year right after the BACK-TO-SCHOOL sales!

But sarcasm aside, we do have much to be thankful for. We can be thankful that Goldman Sachs was bailed out and used its money to pay the salaries of those poor starving executives who hadn’t had Beluga in over a week–CEO Lloyd Blankfein, you really are doing God’s work. We can be thankful that John McCain didn’t win the election–because by now some idiot would have shot him so we’d have Sarah Palin running the show. Those of us who HAVE jobs can be thankful we still have them and as for the rest, don’t worry, we’ll get around to you next year! We can be thankful that we can still pay insurance companies exorbitant fees for denial of claims because in 3 years they won’t be able to do that! Some of us can be thankful that NEW MOON is in the theaters and the rest of us can be thankful that we don’t have to go. And finally, we must be thankful for our celebrities, without whose stupidity, that’s right, I’m talking you, Lindsay "I don’t pay for fill-in-the-blank" Lohan, our lives would be so much less interesting.

AnimeUSA was a fantastic con, for those of you who might have an interest. I finally had the chance to wear my new tux at the formal ball, ran into all my friends from deviantArt who said they’d be there, actually had some nice photos taken of me that don’t make me look my age, ran into some people who’d actually seen my cartoons–YAY! and I found a FANTASTIC band. J-rock band QUAFF is KICK ASS! they are totally awesome–so awesome I went to both of their concerts at the con. The last one–at no’on on Sunday when half the con had left for airports and the other half were walking zombies–had so much energy that the 300 people in the audience were screaming as loud as 1000. I’ll update this with links when I finally get some sleep LOL.

Anyway a great time was had by all including yours truly and QUAFF will be at ANIME USA again next year. Happy Turkey Day everyone from me, Mr. Dymme, Fred and Bert–drive safely if you’re going out of town and we’ll be back Monday with a new dose of Intravenous Caffeine.
