Defining the Dubya legacy has been the mainstream medias’ topic du jour. Presidents with Bumpersticker Slogans like The Square Deal, The New Deal, The New Frontier, and Morning In America are fondly remembered. Pundits are perplexed. What is a good slogan that encapsulates Dubya Bush and his Presidency?

While it is difficult to come up with a slogan other than the cliched Worst President Ever, I remember some moments that especially define the worst President ever. Dubya, giggling, while looking under the couch for WMD’s and calling out, "No WMD’s under here!" is packed with metaphorical significance: Dim Son’s child-like sense of humor really shines here. His mean spiritedness and complete lack of empathy are bundled neatly in the vaudevillian bit. The allusion to war and bombs and the firecrackers he loved to use to explode Texas amphibians comes to fore.

The pretzel-choking event is also an apt summary of the Bush legacy. The story regarding the incident was so contrived – like Curveball, Yellowcake and all the manufactured intelligence (lies) used to rain hell on Iraq so that Big Oil could plummet their reserves. Choking is an apt metaphor. We all choked on Dubya. We’ve choked on Dubya pollution. What about the Bullhorn Moment after Bush failed to heed the warnings that could have prevented the 911 disaster? Is this a good legacy builder? I think so. We must imagine Dubya with the Bullhorn as in his Cheerleader days imploring us to shop and cheering for death and chaos and telling us all to Go Cheney Ourselves. What are your favorite Bush Moments?
