In Brooklyn, will it be a NOM and Diaz fundraiser?
If not, someone should at least get a photo of Ruben and Maggie and Capleton
Am I the only reader on Pam’s who thinks that it is an outrage
that this man preaching the murder of our gay brothers is getting a venue to perform in in NYC?
Withe NOM and Diaz preachign hate whilst claiming some kind of sanctimonious victimhood, do we need ChiChipleton inciting slaughter?
Hate speech laws
If he calls for LGBT people to be killed while performing in Canada, he may find himself being arrested for violating our hate speech laws.
“Kill LGBT” Performer Capleton @ 06/26/11 Brooklyn Music Festival “Rescheduled”
The June 26th, 2011 Brooklyn Music Festival featuring Capleton and other dancehall or reggae performers has been “rescheduled,” according to the Brooklyn Music Festival Website
No new date for the “rescheduled” festival is given.
Capleton concert moved from Toronto to Brampton after LGBT outcry
The Globe and Mail (Canada)reports today, 07/01/11, that:
Jamaican singer’s concert moved out of Toronto after outcry from gay community
Good work Egale Canada! Merci!
It would have been better if the concert had been canceled altogether. Sometimes there is a deposit, though, and a large amount of money is lost by the venue if a concert is canceled.
Capleton obtains bookings by misrepresenting his background, claiming that he hasn’t performed “kill LGBT” music in the past. He may cite his signing of the Reggae Compassionate Act agreement, without mentioning that he violated that agreement.
The best strategy for supporters of human rights and opponents of hatred and violence, is to get word out to clubs and bookers before a murder music artiste like Capleton is booked.
Glad to hear he was cancelled in Brooklyn.
I am curious about the circumstances and anxious to know where his “rescheduling” may pop up again, so we can target the new venue.
