Last week, I wrote a script for an ad against California’s Proposition 8, would would eliminate hard-earned and long-denied marriage rights for LGBT couples.

I didn’t expect anything to come of it, but my brother and his girlfriend went to work producing it. They recruited an excellent cast, including Bridget McManus. Rick Jacobs of the Courage Campaign gladly let us use his house for shooting. And my best friend directed and edited it. It was shot this past Thursday and edited Friday. And here it is:

This late in the campaign, it would be impossible to get it up on TV, especially given a lack of money–our production was all volunteer, with a total cost of ZERO DOLLARS.

For opponents of Proposition 8 like myself, this is what it all comes down to. It’s not about free speech, or freedom to practice religion. It’s not a slippery slope into man-on-box-turtles. It’s actually a slippery slope toward theocracy.

And people deserve to know the truth.
