“I have a dream.” August 28, 1963

Thinking about Leaders   .    .    .

With his upcoming birthday, I’ve been remembering Martin Luther King this morning.  Dr. King’s speech  was titled “March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom”.  Over 200,000 attended that rally.  Now, almost 50 years later, we still have the same issues on the forefront of Main Street American’s minds:  jobs and freedom.  And we still have citizens occupying Washington.

Over the past 20 years in particular, under the leadership of both Democrats and Republicans, we have seen our job markets crumble to dust and our freedoms eroded almost to the point that the USA more resembles a totalitarian government than a Democracy with the passage of such legislation as “The Patriot Act” and more recently, the passage of the $662 billion “National Defense Authorization Act ” which allows the military greater authority to detain and interrogate U.S. citizens and non-citizens and deny them legal rights protected by the Constitution.

Our nation is not broken.  The lawmakers in Washington are broken and they have been broken for at least 20 years, if not longer–both Democrats and Republicans.  They sold out to special interests years ago.  And yet we continue to re-elect the same crooks election after election.

________________________________________________________

So why do we keep re-electing these sorry incumbents from both parties as our leaders?

It may be because of our own low self-esteem as a people.  Perhaps we don’t believe in true premise of Democracy–that the people, ordinary people just like us can effectively run the government.  Thus we look to a “leader”, a powerful figure.  We are a country who loves our leaders and no one puts them on a higher pedestal, at least initially,  than Americans.  We may put them there because we also love to knock them off that pedestal, thus giving us the illusionary belief in our own power.  But, in case you haven’t noticed, these leaders we select as our President and as members of Congress  are replaced with clones of the one before them–regardless the party.

Isn’t it time that we tried something new and entirely different?  Perhaps then we might obtain different results. And no, I’m not speaking of candidates like Ron Paul.  He is the hypocrite’s hypocrite–a Washington insider for 15 years who has cleverly honed his image as that of an outsider.  Paul votes against trade agreements and rails against the War on Drugs while behind his wizard’s curtain he reaps millions in his investments from trade agreements and the War on Drugs.  Paul is not “something new and entirely different.”  Paul is more of the same in a different package. You cannot have the bulk of your investments in foreign mining companies whose management hire thugs to murder workers who want living wages and safe working conditions and tell me “that’s the American way.”

If we want to re-establish democracy, we are going to have to elect people to represent us who are more representative of the majority–not millionaire Wall Street investors who come back to their districts now and then.  We are going to have to elect candidates who do not hold fund raisers in ski resorts such as Park City Utah like my U.S. Congressman, Pete Sessions.  Over 200,000 children in Pete Sessions 32nd district subsist at or below poverty level.  Do you think any of their parents will be going to Park City to hobnob and catch their representative’s attention to tell him what they need?  Dream on baby. That honor is reserved for Sessions’ millionaire contributors. It’s not about what Pete can do for the majority of his constituents. It’s about how much money a few–not even from his districts–can give to Pete.  That’s the game they all play–Democrats and Republicans alike.

And as for Main Street?  Well, all you have to do is drive around the downtown of your own Main Street with its empty store fronts to see how well the current members of Congress are representing you.  If you need more proof you can drive around the residential area of your district and look at all the “For Sale” signs.

Until we elect people who are not millionaires who have made their fortunes from their Wall Street investments don’t expect anything but more of the same.  We are going to have to remove at least 44% of both houses of our current Congress because that’s the percentage who are Wall Street invested multimillionaires.

How much longer before we overcome our own resistence to real change?

Since the criteria is who can make the most money by dismantling Main Street, I propose Henry Kravis for President!

Yes, there is no doubt that Mitt Romney is the leader of the pack of the current candidates for President of our Nation when it comes to firing workers and trashing American companies, but that doesn’t make at least 200 members of the US Congress any less guilty.

Without their participation as lawmakers and as Wall Street investors, companies like Bain Capital, American Capital Group and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. would never get away with the crimes they “legally” commit against the American people.  We need to remember that the two are a hand-in-glove relationship:  Congress and Wall Street crooks like Romney. They BOTH benefit from destroying Main Street.  If you don’t believe me go to Open Secrets and look at the increases in the net worth of Congressional members over the past three years as millions of Americans have slid off into economic oblivion.

Henry Kravis is another pig like Romney who has made billions with his private  private equity firm of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. who have over $62 billion in assets as of 2011. Kravis himself has an estimated net worth of $3.7 billion as of September 2011, ranked by Forbes as the 88th richest man in America. And he made his money just like Mitt:  with leveraged buyouts, then firing workers and selling off the companies assets.  Another Main Street demolition expert.

If Wall Street private equity firms are “the American Way” as Ron Paul and Mitt say, it seems to me that maybe Henry Kravis ought to run for president since he obviously knows the game better than Mitt. Kravis has a personal fortune of $3.7 billion to Mitt’s puny $250 billion.

And more just like Kravis and Romney are waiting in the wings from the children of the political class currently in power.

Chelsea Clinton, for example, straight out of college worked for a predatory financial corporation on wall street.  No doubt mom or pop helped to land her job with American Capital Group, an investment firm focusing on distressed securities and private equity with regional teams focusing on “opportunities” in the United States, Europe and Asia. The firm operates as both a private equity and a hedge fund.  Do you think that anyone of the three Clintons don’t know how a private equity firm makes its money?  It’s the “American Way” all right–the “American Way” for the rich.

Then there is Rick Perry’s son.  In February of 2007, Perry’s son, Griffith, went to work for UBS, one of the two largest financial firms consulting with Rick Perry over the possible sale of the Texas Lottery.

“No information” is corporate owned media’s  sin of omission.

Simply ignoring and not reporting news is also a propaganda technique that is often used by corporate sponsored mainstream media to influence public opinion.  In fact, ignoring situations is one of the techniques that has been taught to corporate managers:  Pick your battles.  If you ignore many nuisances they will go away by themselves like gnats.  I remember being told that about 20 years ago when I worked for a corporation and was being trained for a managerial position. As I recall, this advice was in a book written by Ken Blanchard.  My philosophy is different.  The little things and the little people are important.  It’s not the big things that bring you down, it’s the little things–like that mole you didn’t get checked out in time, or like that person on Main Street whose job and life you destroyed .

Part of the process of creating disinformation is to leave out salient facts which are in fact big news.  For example, the recent voter turnout in Iowa for the Republican Primary was 5.4%!  This is huge.  As far as I”m concerned, it puts the victories of Romney and Santorum into the category of “And so what?”  I think the real news in the Iowa story is that so few Republicans showed up to participate in the caucuses in the first place–especially since the weather was so great.

Another  great current example of corporate-owned media’s sin of omission is how they totally ignored the Occupy Movement.  It was over a week six days before any mainstream media even printed one hateful story on the event.  Then they spent at least another full two weeks with hateful articles trying to brush it off  by mocking it as some “rich kids” game.  And look what happened.  Occupy became a global movement.  They will never be able to put that genie back into its bottle–even though they are trying hard by resorting to police brutality.

Spreading disinformation and Spin are corporate media’s sins of commission.

Currently they are pumping up the impression that “the people” in the Republican Party are behind Mitt Romney.  ”The people” in the Republican Party are no more behind Mitt Romney than a goose is.  ”The people” in the Republican Party who are behind Mitt Romney are the fat cats like Rudy Giuliani (who by the way, is likely vying for a VP slot beside Romney).  They are like the same 1% crowd in the Democratic Party who are behind Obama.  It’s the leadership–not the membership who back these multimillionaire Wall Street jerks.

I thought about that this morning as I read a piece quoting Giuliani who criticized Newt Gingrich for his Bain Capital ad–probably the best political ad that has ever been created in the history of our country.  Newt Gingrich, unfortunately, has done so poorly in other regards for the the majority that he would not be a person to elect. However, as for his Bain Ad–He should receive a humanitarian award.  It is an ad that tells the story of how Wall Street criminals like Mitt Romney destroy Main Street in a way that everyone understands.  They are destroying Main Street and the people who live on Main Street.

Now we see headlines pumping up a 34% approval rating of Romney: Why it’s important that 34% of Americans Approve of Romney.  –complete with charts from the Gallup poll.  The wizard of OZ could not have done better.

Other ways to put that that same “news”

66% of Americans will not likely be voting for Mitt Romney in November and if Ron Paul splits the vote, that percentage will even be lower.

and speaking of Ron Paul. . . He is not that different from Mitt Romney.  He has described what Bain Capital does as being “the American way of life.”  A candidate who endorses hedge funds and private equity groups like Bain Capital is not fit to lead this nation.  But it did not come as any surprise to me to hear Ron Paul say this.  As far as I’m concerned, he is a hypocrite’s hypocrite.  He votes against Trade Agreements and rails against the War on Drugs and yet he reaps millions as a result of Trade Agreements and the War on Drugs.

For example, Ron Paul increased his wealth from $3,930,000 in 2008 to $5,064,000 in 2009 – over a million dollars richer.  Yep, Saint Ron Paul made over a million bucks in the Wall Street Casino at a time when millions of Americans were losing their jobs and homes.  Ron Paul is no different from any other greedy millionaire Wall Street shyster that we have “representing” us in Congress. Paul makes his money by investing in foreign mining companies who murder workers who try to establish better working conditions.  Often these miners are murdered by thugs who are hired with funds from the War on Drugs to combat drug trafficking.  They moonlight for the mining companies and other corporations like Chiquita and Coca Cola who want to make sure that they keep labor at slave wages with no margin of safety for workers.  They have proved more than once that they are willing to murder to keep control.

_______________________________________________

If the Republican Party elect Mitt Romney, it just shows how far out of touch their leadership is with mainstream Americans.  They should all watch the full 28 minutes of the  Gingrich commercial on Bain Capital because that is how the 99% feel and they are waking up.

Oddly enough, Rick Perry’s son, Griffith, delivered one of the most clever one-liners on Twitter yesterday about Mitt Romney:

Mitt Romney knows how to lead lead people straight out the door with a pink slip.”

and he is right.  If his father had as much sense as he appears to, Rick should have Griffith writing his ads for him.

A moment of piety from the last Gilded Age: “Let us prey.”

A Group of Vultures waiting for the storm to blow over: “Let us prey.”
Thomas Nast-

___________________________________________________

Some say that “history repeats itself” and that today we are having a rebirth of the Gilded Age that America experienced at the turn of the 19th to the 20th Century.

I disagree.  They have never stopped.  The plutocrats have been  on a continuum of greed  for over 100 years in the USA. They don’t even seem to realize that they have spoiled their own nest by grabbing more road kill from their broken “free” market Wall Street ideology than they could devour in a lifetime.

Like the vultures in Nast’s cartoon, they don’t see the big rock coming at them and their “free” market.*  And that big rock is the 99% who are waking up, as evidenced by the popularity of Occupy, to the fact that a plutocrat is a plutocrat and party makes no difference.

__________________________________________

*Free market means that the plutocrats are free to manipulate the market any way they can that puts money in their pockets.  Just ask Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs or any one of the Wall Street invested multimillionaires in Congress who comprise 44% of our elected federal officials.

It’s not about Republicans.  It’s not about Democrats.  It’s about the plutocrats against the rest of us.  If you don’t know what a plutocrat is, you better find out as you could be their next road kill.  A plutocrat is someone like Nancy Pelosi who increased her wealth in 2008 from $95,980,989  to $124,229,990 in 2009–a whooping $30 million or Pete Sessions from the 32nd US Congressional District in Texas with a net worth of $3,376,000 in 2008 and a net worth of 4,904,000 in 2009.  Thus in the time period in which 2.6 million Americans lost their jobs, Mr. Sessions made $1,528,000 off his Wall Street investments.

Over 200 members of Congress (including Ron Paul) have increased their personal wealth with the Wall Street investments over the past three years.  I hope you’ve been paying enough attention to realize that this was not from job creation.  The way that Wall Street has made money the past three years is by cutting costs–firing workers and selling off assets.  If this is the “American Way” then it needs to be changed.

Our only defense against them is to vote for a member of the 99% who is not beholden to either party–both of which are controlled by vulture capitalists.   Vulture capitalism is NOT the American way of life.  It’s the plutocrat vulture’s way of life and their guano has fouled Main Street almost beyond repair.

It’s time to clean all three houses by removing as many of them as possible in 2012

We do have at least one Third Party Candidate for 2012–Jill Stein and also perhaps Ron Paul

7:40 am in Uncategorized by Liz Berry

Of course, if you want to still live in the past and talk about Florida in 2000 and how third parties “rob” votes from one of the two parties–it’s a free country:  go ahead and lament.  I’m sure that you’ll get plenty of support for your efforts from Obama and the leadership of the Democratic Party and from those on the right side of the aisle as well.   That has been the standard line from both of the parties:  ”Don’t throw away your vote on a Third party or Independent Candidate.”

That’s a bunch of BS. The more parties and Independents represented in the halls of government the stronger the government.  Examples of nations with multi-party systems include Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Taiwan.

Single-party systems or dominant-party systems happen in nations where opposing parties are outlawed or restricted by the dominant party which wields power. Examples include rule by the Communist party of China and People’s Action Party of Singapore.  A one-party system is the next step up from a two-party system, and that is the direction that the USA has been moving with the leadership of the Democrat and Republican parties ever since 1987 when the leadership of the Democrat and Republican parties formed a corporation.  The corporation is called “The Commission on Presidential Debates”  but it is much more than that.  Walter Cronkite referred to the formation of this corporation as the “greatest fraud ever pulled on the American voters.”

Moving into a “Party of One” has been the goal of the leadership of BOTH parties for the past 25  years.  If you don’t realize this, then you have not been paying attention.  They call it “bipartisanship”.  It should be called something else.  It should be called the “Party of the 1%” In 2012, any American who gives a damn about democracy should give serious thought to voting for Independents and Third Party candidates.  We need to make our democracy stronger–not weaker.

I would like nothing better than to see at least four Presidential candidates in 2012:  Obama, Romney, Ron Paul and Jill Stein.  If this were to happen, we might actually see a few real debates that deal with real issues such as war and the declining conditions of the environment and human life on this planet. These are all topics that you will never hear discussed in any depths in debates between Democrats and Republicans.  In fact, to please those who sponsor their corporation, the leadership of the Democrat and Republican parties have agreed not to.  Instead, on the waves of corporate sponsored TV we get to watch debates about flag pins, what the minister of a candidate says, and “he said/she said/I meant” quarrels among the candidates that rival those of contestants now featured in other insipid corporation programming such as the Kardashians.

Ron Paul may run as a Third Party candidate in 2012.  Perhaps he has avoided it in the past for three two reasons: 1) because he knew he didn’t have enough votes  2) Paul knew that it would be the final kiss of death from the Republican Party  (3) Now, although not a given, because of his age, it is likely that this will be Paul’s last crack at the presidency.  He may be willing to risk all in 2012–even the “love” of the Republican Party.

On January 25, the day after President Obama delivers his state of the Union address, at 8:30 [PM] Eastern, you can participate in The People’s State of the Union.

You’ll hear a realism about America’s situation –and the ways to overcome it– that Wall Street an the Washington establishment don’t want you talking about. We can have an economy that provides jobs for everyone without depressing wages or destroying the environment. We can get Wall Street off our backs and win control of our lives and common future.

Through this special online broadcast, you will hear presidential candidate Jill Stein describe the Green New Deal that can reclaim our future and fulfill the promise of America. Lines will be open for your questions and ideas. All you need is an internet connection and a computer.  MORE

The Two-Party System Is the Biggest Lie of All. Currently the USA has one Party.

The two parties are literally  a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation as defined by Federal US tax laws that was formed in 1987 and is funded by contributions from Wall Street corporations. (See Wiki for more information.)  But beware because over the past 4 years this article continues to have the truth removed from it.  For example, in 2008, it had a quote in there from Walter Cronkite who referred to the formation of this corporation as “the greatest scam ever pulled on the American voters.” Somewhere along the way that truth has been scrubbed out of the WIKI citation.

_________________________________________________

To those who say:  ”I’m tired of voting for the lessor of two evils.”

I say:  Stop pretending that you have to and do what you can now to create even more and better choices!

Yes, we already have better choices than the fake “two-party” (one Wall Street Party) choice that we are being offered.  There are many third choices for candidates for all elections in 2012 from local dog catcher to the President of the United States.  The 99% need to stop being part of the problem by pretending that we don’t have these choices.  The 99% need to work hard now to create even more and better choices at the polls in 2012.  The 99% need to turn our backs on the two-party farce of our political system.

They may have all the money, but where is it written that we are so damn stupid that we must continue to succumb to their cyclic 2 year side show and 4 year circus of obvious disinformation, character assassinations of those who oppose them, their fake two-party system, their fake flag-pin debates, their outright lies and their Wall Street sponsored propaganda?  Where is it written that we cannot turn our backs on them and all their self-serving political rhetoric, outright lies, propaganda, and smear campaigns bought and paid for by Wall Street?

Who exactly is forcing us to make the false choice between two candidates from the same party of the 1%?  Are we helpless to resist them?  I don’t know about you, but I damn sure can and will resist them.  It won’t even be that difficult as they have become so damn obvious.

________________________________________________

There is a  lot of hand-wringing going on in regard to choices for candidates–particularly for the President.  Wake up folks and look around you.  Stop whining and moaning about Obama and Mitt Romney being the only choice for president when you do have a great alternative:  Jill Stein who would be better than the two male jackasses from the Wall Street Party of One put together.

Are you tired of war?  Then stop voting for the Party of One (Democrats and Republicans) who increase their own personal net worth by voting for war.   DUH!  Start using your brains. As long as Democrats and Republicans are running Washington–that’s how long the USA will be embroiled in the fake wars to make money for war mongering Wall Street corporations which in turn make money for them. That’s how long these cynical criminals will be dumping the remains of American soldiers in landfills. They don’t care about us and they don’t care about our children.  If they did, they would not be giving our tax dollars away to Wall Street Corporations who in turn give some of it back to them in the form of quarterly dividends.

_________________________________________________

As for me, I’m being the example that I want to see.  I have filed my intent to run as an independent candidate for the 32nd U.S. Congressional District in Texas against millionaire Republican incumbent Pete Sessions.  Our representative, like many Wall Street shills in Congress, increased his own personal wealth by over one million dollars from 2008 to 2009–as many of his constituents were losing their jobs and homes while they were fired by Wall Street corporations.

How did Wall Street make its billions over the past four years to pay off people like Pete Sessions and other members of Congress?  Not by job creation!  We should at least know that much. Wall Street made its billions by cutting costs–by firing Americans and selling off assets.   Members of the U.S. Congress have increased their personal wealth by over $100 million over the past three years while the rest of us have been losing our jobs and homes.  Their wealth and the wealth of all Wall Street investors has NOTHING to do with hard work and everything to do with sucking off the majority of working Americans.

_________________________________________

As long as Americans vote for candidates from either party, we all will continue to lose.  No decent person with a conscience for doing the right thing would sign on with either party.  It has come to that. A person of integrity will stand alone against both parties.

If the candidate is a Democrat or a Republican/Tea Party–forget them.

If the candidate owns Wall Street stock–forget them

If the candidate is a millionaire–proceed with extreme caution by asking about the source of their wealth.

____________________________________________

So what are YOU going to do?

Are YOU going to continue to buy into the two-party propaganda?

Or will you support a non-party choice in 2012?

Will you vote for third party choices like Jill Stein for President?

Or will you continue to drink their Kool Aid about “throwing your vote away”?

YOU are the one who can make a difference, but not if you keep doing the same thing by succumbing to their political rhetoric and fear mongering.

I say:  Don’t even participate in their primaries in 2012. In many states such as Texas, if you vote in the primary you cannot sign the ballot petition of an Independent.   (And remember, you can only sign the ballot petition of an Independent for the same office once.)

We DO have a Third Choice for President–but not if you listen to Wall Street sponsored media.

Jill Stein for President:  She represents First Amendment Rights!

Right Now: The First Amendment is on the line and we know what BOTH the Democrats and the Republican Tea Party in Washington think about the First Amendment

How do we know that elected officials from both parties AND the White House don’t give a damn about First Amendment Rights?  They proved it to us with their votes for The National Defense Authorization Act.

Only 13 members of the Senate stood up and voted against this heinous bill.Yesterday, December 14, The Senate on Thursday sent a defense policy bill to President Barack Obama, who has said he would reluctantly sign it after months of fighting over the handling of suspected terrorists, especially those who are U.S. citizens.

It is a sign of the times that the Jill Stein for President campaign has become a bullhorn speaking out against police repression of pro-democracy protests. In defending Occupy Wall Street protests across country, speaking out against the National Defense Authorization Act, and with plans this Friday to join protests against the closure of the Wisconsin State Capitol, Dr. Stein has begun to attract credible support from those who identify with the 99% message.

One sign of that support is the over 2,000 individuals who have since Thursday signed the “First Amendment Pledge,” a statement initiated by Dr. Stein which concludes, “I pledge non-cooperation with police repression and will not vote for or support those responsible for it.”

The pledge, along with prominent initial signers, can be seen here http://www.FirstAmendmentPledge.org

Note:    To those who are fooled about the recent changes to this act:

The bill still includes a narrower provision, drafted by the Senate, authorizing the government to detain, without trial, suspected members of Al Qaeda or its allies — or those who “substantially supported” them — bolstering the authorization it enacted a decade ago against the perpetrators of the Sept. 11 attacks.

ILWQ COMMENTS:  We do have a Third Choice.  We do have a chance to tell both parties what we think of them.

We need to remind Americans because you won’t be seeing much of her name in the Wall Street sponsored corporate media.  And  you won’t be seeing much of most Independent candidates advertised because most of them don’t have the unlimited corporate sponsored campaign funds that the “two” parties do.  Make it a point to learn about all candidates.

The best place you can go to learn about your choices for an Independent candidate is your local or state League of Women Voters. They publish  statements of what all candidates stand for.  These are statements written by the candidates themselves.  In addition, in the state of Texas, the League of Women Voters often sponsor forums and invite ALL registered candidates to speak, even Independents.  Note:  If you are an Independent candidate, be sure to contact your local League of Women Voters and tell them that you would like to send them a written copy of where you stand on the important issues.

2012 could be the the year that we replace all incumbents up for re-election in Washington with non-millionaire Independent  members from the 99%.  It really is possible.  Believe it!  As the majority, we can have our way.  We can.  Turn away from the 1% and their propaganda.  Stop watching their televised propaganda machine–just for a week and see what happens.

Results from a new national survey from the Pew Research Center should strike fear into the hearts of incumbents in Congress, especially those who are members of the Republican Party. A record number of respondents want to vote sitting lawmakers out of office, and Republicans take more of the blame than Democrats for perceptions of a do-nothing Congress.

According to the Pew Research report, two-thirds (67 percent) of registered voters nationwide say “most members of Congress” should be voted out of office in 2012, while only 20 percent want most members reelected. This desire to fire all incumbents marks a record level of discontent

LET’S VOTE THEM ALL OUT IN 2012–INCLUDING BARACK OBAMA!   WE CAN DO IT.  WE CAN REALLY DO IT IF WE STAND UP AND VOTE.

Forget about what they say about “throwing your vote away.”  The only way that the 99% can “throw their vote away” is by voting for a Democrat or a Republican/Tea Party Candidate because then you are voting for more of the same.  Sure, some of the Independents may turn out to be duds, but I’m betting that, unlike a Democrat or a Republican, the majority of them won’t be duds.

Don’t even bother to participate  in their primaries.  Save your vote to sign the ballot petition of an Independent candidate.  In many states, such as Texas, if you vote in a Democrat or a Republican primary in March, that disqualifies  you from signing the ballot petition of an Independent candidate.  Independents cannot begin gathering their qualifying signatures (500+) until after the primaries have been held in March.

Show your disgust for both parties by not even participating in their primaries in 2012.  We do have other choices.  For the first time in over 100 years 2012 represents the best chance that the majority have had to take control of Congress and even the White House.

Amazing how the 99% continue to defend the propaganda of the 1%

Cross Post from IfLizWereQueen

Last night I got into a somewhat heated discussion with a man who argued that the only way we can get things changed is to change the law regarding contributions to candidates.  The discussion went on for over an hour and he never saw the futility of convincing incumbents to give up their source of wealth for their campaign coffers.  Many people stlll believe that they can influence the majority of the utter criminals that we have in Washington DC to do the right thing.  Faith is good, but putting your faith in the hands of proven self-serving Wall Street crooks serves them–not you.

In order to believe that establishing laws for clean elections is possible, you must first believe that those in power have the best interests of the 99% at heart and will vote to pass such laws.  That is the logical fallacy upon which clean elections is built.

You must first believe that the current crop of elected officials would vote against what they seem to believe is in their best own best interests.  Asking the same people who vote for war and mayhem day in and day out to vote against their Wall Street stock portfolios?  Asking the same people to do the right thing who (with a Democratic majority in both houses) voted almost unanimously to defund an organization whose only crime was to empower poor people?  Asking the same Congress who defends Wall Street corporations like Goldman Sachs who literally starved millions of human beings to death in 2008 to do the right thing? You are going to ask these people to do the right thing and support publicly funded elections?  If so, you are placing your faith in the hands of your abusers. Don’t expect a happy return on your investment.

Stop trying to defend the indefensible from either party!

Voting reform is not going to happen until we remove the majority of the members of BOTH houses from Washington DC and replace them with non-millionaire, non Wall Street stock investors– and not a day before.  Not one damn day before.  What on earth makes people think that these proven crooks will have a sudden change of heart?

Yes, 44% of our entire Congress are millionaires who are heavily invested in Wall Street and in the defense industries in particular.  But they didn’t get there with their money. They got there because of the apathy and laziness of the American voters.  Every year in Congressional districts all over the USA, some incumbents are not even challenged.  Almost one third of all the eligible voters in the USA are not even registered to vote.  Even when we do have elections, especially in the non-presidential years, a pathetic percentage of those who are registered to vote show up.  These people don’t get re-elected year after year because of their money.  They get re-elected year after year because of the apathy of the American voters and our willingness to accept the political cliches and rhetoric of the incumbents instead of calling these people on their misrepresentations and what they have actually done to us and our nation.

The man argued that the overwhelming majority of candidates who win are the ones with the most money.  I’m not certain that this is true, but even if it is, that argument does not prove that it is money that was the winning factor.  There are plenty of elections to prove that it takes more than money to win.  If money were all it was about, Meg Whitman would be governor of California today.  She poured $170 million of her own money onto that race (many times over that of Brown) and she still lost.  Linda McMahon is another example of a wealthy candidate who far outspent her rival and lost.  Mitt Romney is by far the richest Republican candidate and it doesn’t look like he is going to get the nomination.  Hillary Clinton had almost a 100 times as much money as Barack Obama.  She was christened “the inevitable candidate” in 2007 by those in power and yet she lost the nomination.

Winning–even in apathetic America is about more than money and there are many cases to prove my point. But the ones in power don’t want the 99% to realize that.  As long as we believe that it takes hundreds of thousands of dollars to win a race, or that we can’t raise that kind of money, we won’t even try.  The one thing that the incumbents fear the most is that the majority of Americans will start thinking and will stand up and vote–particularly those of us who are poor and recently removed from the middle class.  Please remember:  With a Democratic majority in BOTH houses, Congress voted almost unanimously to defund ACORN –an organization whose only crime was to empower poor people by registering them to vote.  You can forget the myths about the Democratic leadership as being champions of the poor.  They don’t any more give a damn than the Republican/Tea Party do.

________________________________________________

As long as we believe that we need hundreds of thousands of dollars to begin, most of us will never begin.  Year after year we will continue to vote for the one that we consider to be the “lessor of the two evils.”  And nothing could please the incumbents more.

As long as we continue to beg the incumbents who are currently in Washington DC to act like decent human beings, that is exactly how long the 99% will continue to be disappointed and will continue to lose ground.  We must turn our backs on them as they have turned their backs on us–and this includes ceasing to believe the myths that they use to remain in power.  We must unseat the majority of them and replace them with non millionaire, non- Wall Street stock investor Americans.

It’s time for Americans to create their own choices.  If we don’t, then we can expect to have more of the same dished up to us by those that we continue to send back to Washington year after year.

Texans, you have one more day to file your intent to run as an Independent for the U.S. Congress.  Please step up to the plate and file today.  Here are more instructions. Drop me an email at iflizwerequeen@gmail.com when you do.  I would love to hear from you.  Perhaps we can form a coalition to strengthen our efforts.  BELIEVE!  Faith in ultimate triumph of good and acting “as if ” may be all we have to bolster our efforts in the beginning.  The rest will follow.  I believe in Americans.  I believe that people will awaken just in time.  But nothing will change if their choices are limited to the “lessor of two evils” from the corrupt Wall Street Party of One that calls itself Democrat and Republican/Tea Party.

Won’t you join me and run as an Independent in your U.S. Congressional District? All it would take to turn the tide is for 435 Americans to stand up, take a chance, and run for U.S. Congress as an Independent.  The rest will follow because the majority are as fed up as we are.  Just imagine!  We could replace the entire U.S. House of Representatives with 435 Independents in 2012.  It is possible, but not as long as the majority of Americans waste their time defending the propaganda of the 1%.  We must turn our backs on them and turn our efforts to the task of putting candidates who will represent the majority in office in 2012.  If you still believe they will come from the ranks of either party, you need to review their voting records for the past three years.

SHAME ON CONGRESS—ALL OF THEM!  Democrat and Republican/Tea Party Jerks alike!

Shame on them for their lies and criminal legislation against the people.

BUT MOST OF ALL–SHAME ON THE REST OF US, for putting up the the 1% and their crimes against humanity. We can still stop them in 2012 if we stand up and believe in ourselves and make sure that we do have other choices in 2012.  Find out what you must do to run for Congress in 2012 as an Independent. It would be a start if we outnumbered them in the House of Representatives in January of 2012.  It can happen, but not without you and me.

If any American comes up to me in 2012 and makes a comment that they must choose between “the lessor of two evils”, they won’t be liking what they hear coming out of my mouth.  We will have no one but ourselves to blame if this happens.  Now, if you needed a push in the direction of running for office, here is just one more reason to kick the ass of every incumbent up for election in 2012 out of office–those in power are creating laws and bringing weaponry into play that they are already using against the 99%!

YOU must do something now.  Don’t wait for someone else to stand up.  If not you, then who?  The other fellow you say?  Why he or she may be waiting for you.  We need hundreds of leaders to step up to the plate for 2012–at least 435 of them.  We can do it.  We have 435 U.S. Congressional Districts.  Their average population per district is 600,000 people.  Surely we each have one qualified person per district who can do a superior job to the current incumbent.  I know we do!   Please stand up and run as an Independent.  Don’t worry that you don’t want to–in fact, that’s a plus for the people. No one in their right mind actually wants to go to that hell-hole with those greedy Wall Street demons, but we must.  We really must.

Time is running out in many states for candidates to file to run as Independents for US Congress.  Go to your the website for your state’s Secretary of State or call their office and find out what hoop you must jump through to run as an Independent candidate in 2012.  Texans!  You only have a few more days.  December 15 is the last day to file your intent to run as an Independent.

Police are using Sound Weapons use to “Fight Terrorism” on Occupy Protesters.

The Political Fail blog reports that “Out of the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001 came what feels like an entire new world, some might even call it a new world order. Since that day the fear level of many people went up as a result of government and media propaganda designed to keep people from realizing that everything is always changing and the past can no longer hurt us. The most unfortunate on-going effect from that collective consciousness alteringday is the fact that so many people have been trained to always be waiting for something bad to happen, and as a result have become their own terrorists by creating tools meant to harm and/or control other humans. One of the tools created out of fear of what might happen is called an LRAD machine, (Long Range Acoustic Device) which emits a debilitating high pitched noise that can be concentrated and directed at a group of people or even a single person. The devices were designed to be used against foreign “enemy” combatants such as pirates or other dangerous people, but are now being used by domestic law enforcement as crowd control tools, even when the crowd is in full control of their actions. . .”

Why should we support those who support murderers?

6:29 am in Uncategorized by Liz Berry

ILWQ Cross Post

Why anyone, much less a body of elected officials, invest in an evil system that is destroying not only our nation, but our planet?  It is no hyperbole to say that Wall Street corporations pay others to murder people who threaten their profiteering all over the planet.  Here are a few that fall into the category of murderers according to many who offer up convincing proof:  Chiquita Brands, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, PepsiCo.

Many others do it through skipping on the quality of their building materials and hiring unskilled workers to do the work required by skilled labor such as electricians.  Why do they skimp?  They skip so they can pay dividends to their middle men–the wealthy investors like members of Congress.  In this category you can include just about all corporations listed on just about any stock exchange.  We have examples like Halliburton whose shoddy wiring in Iraq led to the “accidental” electrocution of American soldiers. As far as I’m concerned that was no accident.

We have BP who poisoned the Gulf of Mexico and destroyed thousands of small businesses in a fiasco that the people in the Gulf states will take years if ever to recover from.  And why?  Because BP chose to take a risk with the quality of the lives of millions of Americans by not purchasing a safety valve that would have prevented this disaster.  And the people we elected in Congress allowed them to do this. Instead of passing legislation to protect the majority.  Why?  Because at least 30% of them own stock in oil and gas corporations like BP.  In fact, many BP stock owners like James Sensenbrenner, and Joe Barton sat on Congressional committees that “investigated” BP. We have a cynical bunch of rotten human beings  in Washington DC who mock the American people at every turn.

All members of Congress are invested in Wall Street.  44% of the US Congress are Multimillionaire Wall Street Stock investors who have increased their personal wealth by hundreds of thousands of dollars–some of them like Pete Sessions and Nancy Pelosi, by millions–most likely by trading on insider information.  ALL ON THE BACKS OF THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN WORKERS.

Wall Street has made millions for members of Congress over the past four years as American jobs have been slipping out of existence and our homes into foreclosure. How has this money been made?  It has been made by cutting costs.  Cutting costs puts money into the Corporate coffers and into the pockets of their wealthy investors. How to do they cut costs?  They cut costs by firing Americans and selling off assets of the companies where Americans once worked.

There is overwhelming evidence that members of Congress vote to increase and protect their own personal wealth–even when such votes go against the best interests of the majority of their constituents.  Afterward, they are so cynical and callous that they have the nerve to brazenly promote what they have done as if it is a benefit to the people they are supposed to serve.  Pete Sessions, for example, in the 32nd U.S. Congressional district of Texas has been going around bragging about the Korean Trade Agreement that was recently passed.

To listen to Sessions, you would think that the Korean Trade Agreement was going to create thousands of jobs in his district of over 192,000 children living in poverty.  His rhetoric is nothing but a collection of bold-faced lies.  The U.S. Congressional Budget Office has declared that the Korean Trade Agreement will ship 169,000 jobs overseas and will increase the US Trade deficit by $16 billion.  These three one-sided trade agreements passed by an overwhelming vote of our Wall Street Congress and our Wall Street White House Administration will make them and their Wall Street buddies richer and the rest of us and our nation, poorer.

And it’s not just Republicans.  The Democrats are as bad as the Republicans.  They are all there to protect their personal wealth.

Two initial qualifying questions for all candidates in 2012.  Unless the answer is “no” to both questions, look elsewhere for another candidate.

1. Are you a millionaire ?

2. Do you own any Wall Street stock?

Don’t tell me that choices are limited!  Go to the website for your Secretary of State today and see what it takes for you to run as an Independent candidate.  We can create our own candidates to replace the shysters who currently pretend to serve us in Washington D.C.

NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL WE REMOVE THE MAJORITY OF THOSE CURRENTLY SITTING ON THEIR ASSES IN WASHINGTON DC.  That folks is the final word.  We can protest until the cows come home and go back out to pasture again.  Nothing will change until we unseat the majority of the bastards who are now in Congress and the White House. We must replace them with Americans who actually do care about the majority of us.

Believe it and start acting on it while there is still time for the elections of 2012 if you give a damn about the USA.

Congress has a different perspective from the majority of the American people.  Their votes and the legislation they have been supporting for the past 10 years makes perfect sense for them.  It is good for them.  Some of them even assuage their guilt by saying that it will “trickle down” to the rest of us.  It’s been 11 years of the Bush tax cuts for the rich.  How much “trickle” have you seen?

Wake up folks before they literally take the shirts off our children’s backs.  BE A PATRIOT.  STAND UP AND RUN FOR OFFICE AS AN INDEPENDENT.  You never know what you can do until you do it.  If I can do it, ANY American can do it. No I may not win, but I may be able to light the way for another.

One thing is certain, people who care will keep the conversation focused on topics that matter.  We will make those who don’t look like the greedy idiots that they are.  We must be out there and publicly pushing the real issues and challenging the rest of them on their phony political rhetoric and standard cliches.

You may be just the person we need, but we will never know it unless you stand up and take a chance.
