State sponsored violence against young people, the poor, minorities, immigrants and women is on the rise.

And those who give a damn about democracy should care enough to speak up.

In an article written by Henry A. Giroux, he writes: “Young people are demonstrating all over the world against a variety of issues ranging from economic injustice and massive inequality to drastic cuts in education and public services. At the moment, these demonstrations are being met with state-sanctioned violence and insults in the mainstream media rather than with informed dialogue, critical engagement and reformed policies. In the United States, the state monopoly on the use of violence has intensified since the 1980s and, in the process, has been increasingly directed against young people, poor minorities, immigrants and increasingly women.  . . ”  Source

I agree with Mr. Giroux, a writer I admire, however, while state sponsored violence against young people, the poor, minorities, immigrants and women may be on the rise, we need to remember that it has always been firmly in place and the investor class as well as at least 95% of Congress and the media (who belong to the same class) have nurtured this violence against people from the majority who get in the way of their greed since the foundation of this nation.  And state sponsored violence and the willful blindness of those we send to Washington is not only manifested by police in riot gear shooting our young people as they did at Kent State and as they continue to do so today.  it is also manifested in other ways–ways that we often don’t hear of until years later.  Medical experiments conducted on human beings–American citizens without their knowledge, much less permission–that’s another form of state-sponsored violence against the majority.  Deliberately setting up conditions with their globalization schemes whereby the only hope for a job for young people is to join the repressive military who carry out the missions of the investor class.  There, like Pavlovian dogs, they are stripped of any shred of humanity and turned into killing machines.

Yes, We should all be concerned and the most significant thing that we can do about it is to stop voting for the rich investor class that we send to Washington year after year because they are the ones who profit from this corrupt evil crony system. They have no motivation to change it.  In fact, as long as we continue to vote for them, we can expect more of the same and it makes little difference if they are democrats or republicans–a fact that most Americans still don’t seem to grasp.

Turn your backs on them all, America–all of them–as they have turned their backs on us.  Don’t even try to compete in their arena.  If you do, then you will either lose, or worse, become one of them.

A NO-MONEY CAMPAIGN FOR U.S. CONGRESS

Please start the buzz now and perhaps other people will follow.  There is currently one candidate for the US Congress who is not fashioning her campaign after any other candidate in the USA.  Her name is Emma Berry.  She is running for US Congress to represent the people of the 32nd District of Texas–a district where over 200,000 children live below the poverty line while their current US Representative, Pete Sessions, holds fundraisers in expensive ski resorts in Park City Utah–just like all the other members of Congress and even the President and those who would be President with their $5,000 plate dinners and $250 cocktail parties.  Who among the majority can afford that?   They should all be ashamed of themselves for what they do.  They have all lost sight of the how the majority of us live.

Here is Emma Berry’s idea of fund raising and campaign strategy.  It is called “Common Decency and Compassion for the People I Promise to Represent in Washington DC.”  It is called:  ”Coming together to stop them.”  It is called “All for One and One for All”–not “Me First” or “Money First.”  It is called “Reach out to your neighbor.”  It’s called “Do the right thing.”  But it’s not called “Give me money so I can beat the ‘bad’ guy.”

Unlike the rest of them, I will not be taking a cent from anyone for my campaign, not do I have some vast personal fortune that I will be pouring into my campaign.  I may be asking for volunteers to walk my district with me in May to gather signatures on my petition to get my name on the ballot as an Independent candidate for the 32nd District of Texas, and I will be asking this of the people in my district  as I walk through my district asking for signatures on my petition for ballot:

If you want me for your representative then this is what you must do:

1. Make two homemade yard signs that say:  ”I stand with Emma Berry for the 32nd District” or whatever you want to say about voting for Emma Berry.

2. Put one in your yard and then tell your neighbor about me and give them a sign to put in their yard.  Tell them to pass it on.

3. Instead of donating money to my campaign, do something to improve the 32nd district.  it doesn’t have to be donating money.  You can pick up trash in a local park.  You can visit a nursing home and cheer up a lonely person.  You can volunteer in a homeless shelter.  And don’t just do it once, make that a daily weekly or monthly part of your life ongoing for our district.

4. Write to me and tell me what you have done.  Tell me your story of how you have made the 32nd district better.

AND ABOVE ALL ELSE:  BELIEVE!  IMAGINE THAT IS POSSIBLE!   BECAUSE IT IS.  Yes you can send a candidate to the US Congress who does not play their money game.  All it takes is your vote–not your money or anyone’s money.  Just your vote.

Republican Candidates don’t seem to notice they are standing on a Bridge to Nowhere

The Twisted Perspective from the Republican Podium Last Night

The crowd of millionaire yahoos who were cheering them on at the debate last night didn’t seem to notice either  that they too were standing on a bridge to nowhere with the candidates–cheering them on as they offered the American people cake instead of bread and butter.

The rhetoric sounded great.  It even had a ring of compassion to it as they offered education instead of unemployment for 99 weeks . . . as long as one ignored the most salient fact of all:  There is a huge shortage of jobs in the USA–even jobs that don’t even pay a living wage.  The problem is not that people who are out of work are not educated.  The problem isn’t that these people don’t have skills.  The problem is not that people are not willing to work sh$% jobs–just ask one of my friends who has a Masters degree in psychology and is working as a checker at WalMart.

WHAT PART OF “NO JOBS” DON’T THEY UNDERSTAND?

The problem is that there are no jobs for these millions of Americans who are out of work–not that they are not educated and not that they are not willing to work for jobs that are way beneath their skill levels.  What part of the stories of 1,000 American applying for one crappy job at McDonalds are they not hearing?  What part of the stories of kids out of college (4 year schools) who can’t find jobs hasn’t Newt heard?

But then, no one can do willful blindness quite as well as the rich.  It made the candidates all look good to talk about educating people.  ”We don’t want to give handouts.  We want to give hand ups.”   Speaking of education, I noticed that there was no talk of their private school voucher plans to replace public schools. They kept their rich pieholes shut  about that, didn’t they?   If most of these asses had their way, they would completely dismantle public education, thus making education only affordable to the rich.  They are about as much for educating the multitudes as Louie XVI.

Furthermore, there is a shortage of jobs because people who agree with the Republican and Democrat Wall Street  philosophy of “the American Way” have shipped the jobs overseas.

I could only watch about 10 minutes of their bull s&% debate last night before I turned off the idiot box.  It is difficult to tell who was the most disgusting–the million dollar paid Fox pundits asking their loaded right wing questions, the millionaire candidates self-righteosly delivering the standard and irrelevant party line, or the Myrtle Beach millionaire audience cheering them on.

The quip that finally sent me over the edge and moved me to end the nonsense that was pouring into my den came from Newt Gingrich who said in response to 99 weeks of unemployment:  ”99 weeks?  that’s an Associates Degree.”   The crowd of course went wild with self-righteous applause.  Of course, none of the Fox News pundits bothered to ask:  ”And then Newt, where are the jobs that these newly educated Americans would be working at?  If my friend with a Masters degree in psychology and millions more like her with Bachelors degrees now can’t find jobs, what the hell makes you think that people with an Associates degree will have any better luck?”

This crap coming out of the mouth of a man who along with Bill Clinton, put a time limit on poverty for single parents and limited aid to their dependent children.  Oh they “educated” them all right–for sh*& jobs.  But then NAFTA, which they had passed a few years prior, kicked in just about the time these poor women got their associates degrees and certificates. Millions of the sh*% jobs that these poor people were trained for with their “education” programs were shipped out of the USA.  Of course the people could move to US border cities like El Paso and work across the border in Mexico for the USA maquiladoras for $65 a week–no not per day, per week.  That is the typical wage.

___________________________________________________

TAX BREAKS?

Don’t get me started.  Why don’t any of these pundits have the nerve to ask:  ”If tax breaks for the rich is the solution then why, after 11 years of the Bush tax cuts is our economy still in the toilet?”  What’s wrong with that picture, jackass?

SUPPORTING BUSINESS WITH TAX BREAKS?

How much more does the American taxpayer have to fork over?   Not only do many corporations like Exxon and General Electric not pay US income tax on their billions of profit, the American people give them back millions of dollars in tax rebates.  ABSURD!

Here’s another reality check.  In November of 2011 we have this report: Using information from the companies’ own corporate filings, however, the study concluded that a quarter of the 280 corporations owed less than 10 percent of profits in federal income taxes and 30 companies had no federal tax liability for the entire three-year period.  10% income tax rate!   I daresay that not a single member of the 99% who are still lucky enough to have a job have EVER only paid 10% of their income in taxes.

Source

LOWERING THE TAX RATE

Please!  Where is the pundit with the balls to ask any of these jackasses–Democrats and Republican alike:  What percentage of YOUR income do you pay in federal income tax?  I doubt that any of the candidates standing on that stage last night–all of whom are multimillionaires–have EVER ONCE in their life paid the 35% of their income in taxes as they should.  But that doesn’t stop them from pretending that they and other millionaires like them pay it.

A flat rate tax is NOT an equitable tax–again another part of willful blindness of the rich.  It puts an unfair burden on the poor.  If I earn $30,000 and I am taxed at a rate of 25%, that means that I pay $7,500 of my income in Federal taxes.  This amount of money severely impacts me to meet basic needs such as food, housing, health care, education etc. and cripples my ability to rise up.

If my income is $1,000,000 and I am taxed at 25%  I pay $250,000.  I still have $750,000 left.  Does this seriously impact my food budget, my ability to send my children to private school, my ability to continue to live in my home, my current life style, etc.?

Americans are not asking for handouts.  They are asking for justice and a level playing field.

NOTHING WILL CHANGE UNTIL WE REMOVE AT LEAST 44% of CONGRESS

44% of Congress are multimillionaire Wall Street investors who vote for their stock portfolios instead of for the American people.  These people have been entrenched for 10, 20, and some even 30 years or more.

These people are more important than the President.  These people are more important than the goons who sit on the Supreme Court.  These are the people who write the laws.  Yes, the President can veto their laws and the Supreme Court can rule against their laws, but both of these powers are after the fact powers.  And, furthermore, Congress has the power to override their decisions and they also have the power to impeach the President and any Supreme Court justice.  The real power is in the hands of those we send to Congress.

We have the power to change the people we send to Congress with our votes.  If you want someone who will represent the 99%, then start voting for candidates from the 99% and stop voting for multimillionaire Democrats and Republicans. It really is as simple as that.

If you want someone different in the White House, then stop voting for either a Democrat or a Republican and choose someone from the 99%.  We have a choice this year and her name is Jill Stein.  You may not agree with everything she says, but I guarantee that she would be more representative of the majority than either Obama or whatever the cats drag up for the Republican candidate.

Stop doing the same thing and hoping for different results.  Take a chance and vote outside BOTH parties in 2012.  It’s the only way that the USA can be restored.

Now the 1% are telling us that being without is a good thing

While doing research for another piece, I went to the Forbes website and at the very top of the page I read the following quote from Bertrand Russell as I waited for the corporate advertisement to play out before I could see the content I had accessed.  Indeed, although the quote did exude high-toned educated elegance, it was nonetheless corporate propaganda.  The quote was not aimed to assuage the discontent of the working poor. I doubt too many of them will be visiting the Forbes site since most of them are too busy trying to scrape together enough money to pay the rent.  No, this little tidbit is aimed to assuage  any guilt that a member of the investor class of the 1% might be feeling about that offshore account or investments in hedge funds or private equity groups.  The messsage is:  ”Tt’s ok for the poor to be without because doing without is an essential part of  their happiness.”

Forbes Thought Of The Day

“ To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness. ” — Bertrand Russell

Comments from ILWQ:  It’s all relative–a point that many from the 1% miss.

When members of the 1% like Romney are not telling us that we envy their wealth they are telling us that it’s good for us to do without.

Whether or not “doing without” is “part of our essential happiness” depends upon the things one is doing without.  If the things one is doing without include a new Mercedes, that third vacation home on the West coast, another maid, a  new diamond bracelet from Tiffany.   Then, yes, to be without them might be an indispensable part of one’s happiness.

However, if some of the things one is doing without include a living wage that enables a family bread winner to  put a roof over his/her family’s head and food on the table, or the ability to purchase affordable health insurance so they can get that pain in their chest  or lump in their breast checked out–then being without these things is most definitely not an “indispensable part of happiness”.  In fact, doing without these things could well be a one-way ticket to an early grave.

Comment on Handouts from the Rich

When I read that Willard Romney had recently given $50 to $60 to some woman in the crowd who said that she was in deep financial trouble, I thought about  Joe Bageant, who unfortunately died in March of last year.  Joe would have had a high time commenting on that incident.  Joe  was a great spokesperson for the working poor of America.

In 2008 Bageant was interviewed by one of the networks and the interviewer asked him what “these people”  wanted. ( “These people” referred to the working poor, the guns and Bible people, the poor white underclass.) According to Joe, “these people” are not looking for handouts.  What they are looking for is a sense of justice, a sense that a level playing field exists with real opportunity for all and not just the illusion of opportunity.

I agree. As I said before, life and politics in the USA is like a card game that the 1% are playing with the 99%. Part of the problem is that the 1% are playing with a deck that has been marked by their bought-and-paid-for members of Congress.

The other part of the problem is that most Americans still don’t seem to understand that the only way to level the playing field is to get rid to the stooges in Congress who are marking the cards for the 1%.  That would include at least 44% of them who are multimillionaires.  We are NOT going to convince these people to change their ways–not now, not ever.  The only course of action is to get rid of them by voting them out of office.

We are not asking for multimillionaires like Willard (“Mitt”) Romney to throw back a few pennies of the billions that they have stolen, yes stolen, from the taxpayers of our nation.  If that woman to whom Romney threw the $50 or $60  had credit card debt (as do the majority of Americans to the average tune of $15,000) that $50 or $60 bucks would not even pay the interest due for one month  on her debt to a too big to fail Wall Street corporation.

Will enough Americans wake up in 2012 to vote these jackasses out of office?

I don’t know.  You tell me.  What are YOU going to do about it?

If you plan to vote for either a Democrat OR a Republican, I can tell you what I think that you plan to do about it:  ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

No, Mitt and members of Congress. It’s not envy many feel for you. It’s called rage.

Romney Claims the American People Are Envious of him.

I was listening to the radio on my way home from the local Martin Luther King parade yesterday and I heard a clip from an interview with Romney where he said that it was envy of the 1% that is driving all the protests.  It’s not envy, it’s rage and indignation at being robbed and having our jobs destroyed by people like Romney while our tax dollars and our Congress support these criminals in their efforts to destroy Main Street.  What he and others like him do is not, as Ron Paul defended,  the “American Way.”  It’s the way of the robber barons from another page in our history–the same story all over again.

Americans are not envious and they are not looking for handouts.  What we are looking for is justice and a level playing field. If life in the USA were a card game, the 1% would be playing the game with a deck that has been marked by their bought-and-sold Congress.  Until we get rid of the ones who are marking the deck we can forget about justice.

But I guess that it should not come as any surprise to us that Mitt would be confused when it comes to identifying emotions correctly.

________________________________________________

Willard continues to refuse to show his financial records because, among other things, it will show that he only paid 15% of his income in taxes.

Yep that’s right 15%.

How is this you might ask when the candidates for the 1% yelp about the 35% tax that the wealthiest and corporations are supposed to pay?  And we hear jerks like Michele Bachmann telling us that the first thing she would do is lower the 35% income tax rate–as if she  or any of her pals have EVER paid such a rate in their lives!

Indeed, the financial world of Wall Street is a true twisted Orwellian newspeak jungle where loss means profit. Buyout guys like  Mitt Romney decide to buy a company. They find a company they want to buy.  It may be in your community. Their goal is to make money from the company—but not by growing the company, by hiring more people, by making more competitive products. Their goal is a destructive, evil and self-serving goal—to make money for themselves and their investors.  To heck with the people in the community.  Wall Street with the anonymity that it provides investors makes the perfect tool. It’s the perfect setup because the investors don’t even know the people who are being destroyed so they don’t have to feel guilty.

The buyout/private equity people like Romney don’t even use their own money to carry off their crime.  They get some investors to put some cash down.  Then they borrow the rest from banks

When you buy a house or car, you have to pay back the loan.  But thanks to loopholes, created with the help of members of the US Congress, the buyout guys don’t have to pay back their loans. The company they just bought is responsible for the debt—not them.

So private equity investors like Mitt Romney and his pals  have layoffs and sell offs. [That means jobs of ordinary Americans.] The debt of the company brings other bonuses—lower taxes.  That’s right.  Same company same product.  Just less taxes. Because of all the new debt, the company gets to pay a lot less taxes  which of course means less money for schools and roads and hospitals in your community.

Making better products?  People like Mitt Romney are not about making better products.  They are about making cheaper products.  Quality raw materials are as evil to them as paying living wages for workers or taxes for local environment that they often destroy.  Quality raw materials to build quality products along with labor are costs.  The more cost, the less money for the wealthy investor.

THEN THERE ARE CAPITAL GAINS.  WHEN A PRIVATE EQUITY COMPANY SELLS THE COMPANY, AFTER THEY HAVE COMPLETELY GUTTED IT, THE BUYOUT GUYS TAKE 20%.  That’s called carried interest. AND the carried interest that buyout guys like Romney collect gets taxed at only 15%.   While people like Romney and Henry Kravis {who makes more than a million dollars a day)  get taxed at almost half he rate than most ordinary Americans pay.

Odd to think, isn’t it, that the majority of American taxpayers have bankrolled people like Mitt Romney and Henry Kravis (net worth $3.7 billion).

What can you do about it?  You can stop sending the same crooks back to Congress year after year!  And those of you who still believe in the two-party system–especially black people, need to remember ACORN.

You can stop believing in the two-party system.  Look at them!  44% of our Congress are multimillionaires–Democrats and Republicans alike.

Run for office yourself!  Vote for your neighbor!

Yesterday at the parade when I saw the Democrats out in full force at the Martin Luther King parade, I thought about ACORN and how quickly people forget–especially black people when it comes to the Democratic Party.

A Democratic majority in BOTH houses of Congress, along with a black Democratic President who supported the move, voted to defund ACORN–an organization whose only crime was to empower poor people, mostly black people, by registering them to vote and telling them how to defend themselves against unscrupulous landlords and pay day loan shysters.  And what was the evidence?  A shoddy, heavily edited tape presented to Congress by a known right wing operative–James O’Keefe.  The Democrats in Congress, including the President, cared more about protecting their careers than they cared about the poor–especially the black poor.

ACORN later sued O’Keefe for defamation and won the case, but it was too late.  The organization, without the support of donations because of its damaged reputation folded in bankruptcy.

And our Congress?  They continue to award government contracts to real crooks like Lockheed Martin (as but one example) ignoring the proven record of this corporation’s history of misconduct.  Go here and see for yourself:  Federal Contractor Misconduct Database.

Waiting for the MLK Parade – Garland, Texas – January 14, 2011
As I looked at these people yesterday, I wondered how many of them had made the connection that a Democrat majority in both houses and a Democrat black president had destroyed ACORN on the testimony of one known right-wing operative and liar.  Only 7 senators voted against defunding ACORN.

Since the criteria is who can make the most money by dismantling Main Street, I propose Henry Kravis for President!

Yes, there is no doubt that Mitt Romney is the leader of the pack of the current candidates for President of our Nation when it comes to firing workers and trashing American companies, but that doesn’t make at least 200 members of the US Congress any less guilty.

Without their participation as lawmakers and as Wall Street investors, companies like Bain Capital, American Capital Group and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. would never get away with the crimes they “legally” commit against the American people.  We need to remember that the two are a hand-in-glove relationship:  Congress and Wall Street crooks like Romney. They BOTH benefit from destroying Main Street.  If you don’t believe me go to Open Secrets and look at the increases in the net worth of Congressional members over the past three years as millions of Americans have slid off into economic oblivion.

Henry Kravis is another pig like Romney who has made billions with his private  private equity firm of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. who have over $62 billion in assets as of 2011. Kravis himself has an estimated net worth of $3.7 billion as of September 2011, ranked by Forbes as the 88th richest man in America. And he made his money just like Mitt:  with leveraged buyouts, then firing workers and selling off the companies assets.  Another Main Street demolition expert.

If Wall Street private equity firms are “the American Way” as Ron Paul and Mitt say, it seems to me that maybe Henry Kravis ought to run for president since he obviously knows the game better than Mitt. Kravis has a personal fortune of $3.7 billion to Mitt’s puny $250 billion.

And more just like Kravis and Romney are waiting in the wings from the children of the political class currently in power.

Chelsea Clinton, for example, straight out of college worked for a predatory financial corporation on wall street.  No doubt mom or pop helped to land her job with American Capital Group, an investment firm focusing on distressed securities and private equity with regional teams focusing on “opportunities” in the United States, Europe and Asia. The firm operates as both a private equity and a hedge fund.  Do you think that anyone of the three Clintons don’t know how a private equity firm makes its money?  It’s the “American Way” all right–the “American Way” for the rich.

Then there is Rick Perry’s son.  In February of 2007, Perry’s son, Griffith, went to work for UBS, one of the two largest financial firms consulting with Rick Perry over the possible sale of the Texas Lottery.

Montana tells the Supreme Court to Shove it.

Cross Post from IfLizWereQueen

The rest of us can only hope that Montana’s example catches on. They have said no to the Supreme Court’s ruling of “citizens united”  (Actually that election funding ruling would better be called “1% united”)

You may remember that just a week or so ago Montana, being one of the states with the power to recall federal officials, began the process to recall all its elected officials from Congress.  If the other eight states with similar laws were to recall their officials from Congress, the result would be 18 Wall Street Senator deadbeats and 50 Wall Street House of Representative deadbeats removed from Washington. [More]

Now today I read this in TruthOut:  “In a rebuke to the United States Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Montana has held that Citizens United does not apply to Montana campaign finance law.

Last Friday, the Montana Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of a 1912 voter initiative – the Corrupt Practices Act – that prohibits corporations from making contributions to or expenditures on behalf of state political candidates and political parties. In 2010, the Supreme Court ruled that a similar federal prohibition was unconstitutional, prompting a wave of bills and court rulings that erased prohibitions on corporate and union political expenditures around the country. . . “[More at TruthOut]

ILWQ ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

There are many lessons to be learned from Montana’s example:

The people need to remember the power that we do have to wield against Washington and we need to stop acting like whipped dogs and start using every scrap of power that we have. State election laws are but one of the many cudgels of law that we can use to beat the Wall Street Party of One in Washington senseless. Election laws governing all elections–including federal elections–are in the hands of the individual states.  This is why the election processes and candidate requirements vary from state to state.

Montana should be a reminder that the Supreme Court is not nearly as powerful as some give it credit for being. Already we hear one of the arguments from the Democrats for keeping Obama is because of  appointments to the Supreme Court. Balderdash! Like all branches of government, the judicial branch does have power, but their power is after the fact–after the law has passed. The real power lies in the hands of the members of Congress who make the law in the first place.  Don’t you think if the Supreme Court were such a powerful element that, considering its conservative leadership, Roe vs. Wade would have long ago been overturned?  That law has been on the books for almost 40 years.

Yes, the President, as part of the checks and balances has the power to veto bills passed by Congress.  However, Congress, with 2/3′s vote can override any presidential veto.  The real power lies in Congress–not the courts and not the President. Why do you think the ratio of lobbyist to lawmakers is six to one?  Wall Street knows where the power is.

But ultimately, the buck stops with us because we are the people who decide who goes to Washington to represent us. The people that we send to Washington to represent us are critical. Most of the current bunch in DC have been there for at least two terms.  If you want more of the same then go ahead and vote for the incumbents and or other candidates from the Democrat/Republican Millionaire Wall Street Party of One.  If you don’t, then start voting for Independents and Third Party candidates.  We even have one running for president–Jill Stein.  I’m voting for her.  You can throw your vote away by voting for Obama or the Republican jackass that is chosen, but I’m ready for a new direction for my nation.

Yes we can do something.  We can do a lot of things.  We can vote.  We can support Independents and Third Party candidates.  We can run for office ourselves.  We can register others to vote.  We can talk to our neighbors.

Stop repeating the standard cliches nourished by the 1%. “Don’t throw away your vote on an Independent or Third Party candidate.  Better vote for this one or that one for President because of the Supreme Court nominees coming up. If you aren’t rich, there is no point in running for Congress. You may not agree with all the candidate stands for, but he is the lessor of the two evils.  etc.”

Create some new ones: “I’m not giving another dime to the Democrats or Republicans.  I’m  not only voting for non-Wall Street investor candidates, I am campaigning for them.  We can replace Congress and change the direction of the USA because we are the majority, but it won’t happen if we sit back, whine and continue to do what we’ve been doing.   If we want  change, WE must do something..  I’ve turned off the Wall Street side show that runs 24/7 on television because I know that at least 75% of it is mind control to promote the 1%.”

SHAME ON CONGRESS—ALL OF THEM!  Democrat and Republican/Tea Party Jerks alike!

Shame on them for their lies and criminal legislation against the people.

BUT MOST OF ALL–SHAME ON THE REST OF US, for putting up the the 1% and their crimes against humanity. We can still stop them in 2012 if we stand up and believe in ourselves and make sure that we do have other choices in 2012.  Find out what you must do to run for Congress in 2012 as an Independent. It would be a start if we outnumbered them in the House of Representatives in January of 2012.  It can happen, but not without you and me.

If any American comes up to me in 2012 and makes a comment that they must choose between “the lessor of two evils”, they won’t be liking what they hear coming out of my mouth.  We will have no one but ourselves to blame if this happens.  Now, if you needed a push in the direction of running for office, here is just one more reason to kick the ass of every incumbent up for election in 2012 out of office–those in power are creating laws and bringing weaponry into play that they are already using against the 99%!

YOU must do something now.  Don’t wait for someone else to stand up.  If not you, then who?  The other fellow you say?  Why he or she may be waiting for you.  We need hundreds of leaders to step up to the plate for 2012–at least 435 of them.  We can do it.  We have 435 U.S. Congressional Districts.  Their average population per district is 600,000 people.  Surely we each have one qualified person per district who can do a superior job to the current incumbent.  I know we do!   Please stand up and run as an Independent.  Don’t worry that you don’t want to–in fact, that’s a plus for the people. No one in their right mind actually wants to go to that hell-hole with those greedy Wall Street demons, but we must.  We really must.

Time is running out in many states for candidates to file to run as Independents for US Congress.  Go to your the website for your state’s Secretary of State or call their office and find out what hoop you must jump through to run as an Independent candidate in 2012.  Texans!  You only have a few more days.  December 15 is the last day to file your intent to run as an Independent.

Police are using Sound Weapons use to “Fight Terrorism” on Occupy Protesters.

The Political Fail blog reports that “Out of the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001 came what feels like an entire new world, some might even call it a new world order. Since that day the fear level of many people went up as a result of government and media propaganda designed to keep people from realizing that everything is always changing and the past can no longer hurt us. The most unfortunate on-going effect from that collective consciousness alteringday is the fact that so many people have been trained to always be waiting for something bad to happen, and as a result have become their own terrorists by creating tools meant to harm and/or control other humans. One of the tools created out of fear of what might happen is called an LRAD machine, (Long Range Acoustic Device) which emits a debilitating high pitched noise that can be concentrated and directed at a group of people or even a single person. The devices were designed to be used against foreign “enemy” combatants such as pirates or other dangerous people, but are now being used by domestic law enforcement as crowd control tools, even when the crowd is in full control of their actions. . .”

Why should we support those who support murderers?

6:29 am in Uncategorized by Liz Berry

ILWQ Cross Post

Why anyone, much less a body of elected officials, invest in an evil system that is destroying not only our nation, but our planet?  It is no hyperbole to say that Wall Street corporations pay others to murder people who threaten their profiteering all over the planet.  Here are a few that fall into the category of murderers according to many who offer up convincing proof:  Chiquita Brands, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, PepsiCo.

Many others do it through skipping on the quality of their building materials and hiring unskilled workers to do the work required by skilled labor such as electricians.  Why do they skimp?  They skip so they can pay dividends to their middle men–the wealthy investors like members of Congress.  In this category you can include just about all corporations listed on just about any stock exchange.  We have examples like Halliburton whose shoddy wiring in Iraq led to the “accidental” electrocution of American soldiers. As far as I’m concerned that was no accident.

We have BP who poisoned the Gulf of Mexico and destroyed thousands of small businesses in a fiasco that the people in the Gulf states will take years if ever to recover from.  And why?  Because BP chose to take a risk with the quality of the lives of millions of Americans by not purchasing a safety valve that would have prevented this disaster.  And the people we elected in Congress allowed them to do this. Instead of passing legislation to protect the majority.  Why?  Because at least 30% of them own stock in oil and gas corporations like BP.  In fact, many BP stock owners like James Sensenbrenner, and Joe Barton sat on Congressional committees that “investigated” BP. We have a cynical bunch of rotten human beings  in Washington DC who mock the American people at every turn.

All members of Congress are invested in Wall Street.  44% of the US Congress are Multimillionaire Wall Street Stock investors who have increased their personal wealth by hundreds of thousands of dollars–some of them like Pete Sessions and Nancy Pelosi, by millions–most likely by trading on insider information.  ALL ON THE BACKS OF THE MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN WORKERS.

Wall Street has made millions for members of Congress over the past four years as American jobs have been slipping out of existence and our homes into foreclosure. How has this money been made?  It has been made by cutting costs.  Cutting costs puts money into the Corporate coffers and into the pockets of their wealthy investors. How to do they cut costs?  They cut costs by firing Americans and selling off assets of the companies where Americans once worked.

There is overwhelming evidence that members of Congress vote to increase and protect their own personal wealth–even when such votes go against the best interests of the majority of their constituents.  Afterward, they are so cynical and callous that they have the nerve to brazenly promote what they have done as if it is a benefit to the people they are supposed to serve.  Pete Sessions, for example, in the 32nd U.S. Congressional district of Texas has been going around bragging about the Korean Trade Agreement that was recently passed.

To listen to Sessions, you would think that the Korean Trade Agreement was going to create thousands of jobs in his district of over 192,000 children living in poverty.  His rhetoric is nothing but a collection of bold-faced lies.  The U.S. Congressional Budget Office has declared that the Korean Trade Agreement will ship 169,000 jobs overseas and will increase the US Trade deficit by $16 billion.  These three one-sided trade agreements passed by an overwhelming vote of our Wall Street Congress and our Wall Street White House Administration will make them and their Wall Street buddies richer and the rest of us and our nation, poorer.

And it’s not just Republicans.  The Democrats are as bad as the Republicans.  They are all there to protect their personal wealth.

Two initial qualifying questions for all candidates in 2012.  Unless the answer is “no” to both questions, look elsewhere for another candidate.

1. Are you a millionaire ?

2. Do you own any Wall Street stock?

_________________________________________

Don’t tell me that choices are limited!  Go to the website for your Secretary of State today and see what it takes for you to run as an Independent candidate.  We can create our own candidates to replace the shysters who currently pretend to serve us in Washington D.C.

NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL WE REMOVE THE MAJORITY OF THOSE CURRENTLY SITTING ON THEIR ASSES IN WASHINGTON DC.  That folks is the final word.  We can protest until the cows come home and go back out to pasture again.  Nothing will change until we unseat the majority of the bastards who are now in Congress and the White House. We must replace them with Americans who actually do care about the majority of us.

Believe it and start acting on it while there is still time for the elections of 2012 if you give a damn about the USA.

Congress has a different perspective from the majority of the American people.  Their votes and the legislation they have been supporting for the past 10 years makes perfect sense for them.  It is good for them.  Some of them even assuage their guilt by saying that it will “trickle down” to the rest of us.  It’s been 11 years of the Bush tax cuts for the rich.  How much “trickle” have you seen?

Wake up folks before they literally take the shirts off our children’s backs.  BE A PATRIOT.  STAND UP AND RUN FOR OFFICE AS AN INDEPENDENT.  You never know what you can do until you do it.  If I can do it, ANY American can do it. No I may not win, but I may be able to light the way for another.

One thing is certain, people who care will keep the conversation focused on topics that matter.  We will make those who don’t look like the greedy idiots that they are.  We must be out there and publicly pushing the real issues and challenging the rest of them on their phony political rhetoric and standard cliches.

You may be just the person we need, but we will never know it unless you stand up and take a chance.

They use our Children as cannon fodder to feed their Cash Cow

If you are still among those who buy into their patriotic hogwash and nationalistic propaganda, then perhaps you will believe it a little less after reading this:

and when they are done, the bodies of our children who died in their fake wars are dumped in a landfill

The Air Force dumped the incinerated partial remains of at least 274 American troops in a Virginia landfill, far more than the military had acknowledged, before halting the secretive practice three years ago, records show. The landfill dumping was concealed from families who had authorized the military to dispose of the remains in a dignified and respectful manner, Air Force officials said. There are no plans, they said, to alert those families now.

Read William Rivers Pitt’s full article:  The Final Indignity, the Last Insult, the Real America They don’t care what happens to us as long as their stock portfolios continue to swell.

Look at the defense spending increases and this does not even include Homeland Security–the government agency we pay taxes to feel us up at airports:

And, if you still believe that there is a difference between a Democrat or a Republican on their stance regarding war, you need a history lesson:

1. In 2006 the American people elected a Democrat majority in BOTH houses on a clear mandate to end the war in Iraq and bring the troops home no later than the end of December 2008.

2. This Democrat majority continued to rubber stamp George Bushes unfunded requests for military appropriations.

3. In July of 2007, only a few months after being in office, this Democrat majority in both Houses voted, not to bring troops home, but to send 100,000 more over there.

4.In 2008 we elected a Democrat for President and indeed eventually  in 2010 he did bring home the 100,000 that the Democrats send over to Iraq in 2007.  Now in December of 2011 the remaining 50,000 America soldiers will leave Iraq, but only because the Iraqi people are telling us to get the hell out.  It wasn’t like the Obama administration didn’t try every trick in to book to keep them there.

And the fake wars and killing and cynical disposal of our children will continue as long as those who profit from war are allowed to vote for it.

The current jerks in Congress are raising hell about cuts to the Defense Budget that amount to 15%.  They claim that it is “unprecedented.”  Apparently they are unaware of history.  Perhaps they are blinded by their own greed because no war means less money in their pockets.

From Foreign Policy.com, we have the following statistics on cuts to the defense budget–15% is a measly cut.

Eisenhower cut the defense budget by 27%
Nixon cut the defense budget by 29%.
Bush Senior by 17%
Reagan by 10%

and look at the money they have invested in supporting Wall Street war profiteers and then tell me how this is not a conflict of interest:

Look to the various Wall Street investments of Congressional members into War Profiteers and you’ll find the root cause for endless wars.

More than a quarter of senators and congressmen have invested at least $196 million of their own money in companies doing business with the Department of Defense (DoD) that profit from the death and destruction in Iraq.

According to the latest reports, 151 members of Congress invested close to a quarter-billion in companies that received defense contracts of at least $5 million in 2006. These companies got more than $275.6 billion from the government in 2006, or $755 million per day, according to FedSpending.org, a website of the watchdog group OMBWatch.

Here is a list of the most outstanding Congressional War profiteers.  As you can see, Democrat or Republican–little difference when it comes to making money off the deaths of our children.

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass) $28,872,067 $38,209,020
Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) $12,081,050 $49,140,000
Rep. Robin Hayes (R-NC) $9,232,037 $37,105,000 (no longer in Congress but serves as chairman of the NC Republican party)
Rep. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis) $5,207,668 $7,612,653
Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif) $2,684,050 $6,260,000 (no longer in Congress, but this explains her stance as a hawk)
Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich) $2,469,029 $8,360,000
Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WVa) $2,000,002 $2,000,002
Rep. Tom Petri (R-Wis) $1,365,004 $5,800,000
Rep. Kenny Ewell Marchant (R-Texas) $1,163,231 $1,163,231
Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) $1,000,001 $5,000,000

AND WHAT CAN DO YOU DO ABOUT IT?

You can stop buying into the phony three-ring circus of the “two-party” system.

You  can run for office yourself as an Independent.

You can support non-milionaiare, non-Wall Street investor vultures.

________________________________________________

Voting for war and supporting Wall Street in their continuing policy of firing Americans and sending them jobs overseas makes the majority of Congress richer.  They are not going to stop and they are not going to stop making cannon fodder of our children in their fake wars.  We must stop them by voting them out of office in 2012.

File this latest example from Congress under “Any Legislation but Job Creation”

12:27 am in Uncategorized by Liz Berry

Cross Post from IfLizWereQueen

No Time-Wasting Legislation is too Ridiculous for This Congress!

Congress, and the Republicans in particular, continue to tell us is so many ways that they think that ANY RIDICULOUS LEGISLATION is their business as long as it is not Job Creation.

Now this:  House Republicans push bill to ban abortions based on the race of sex of the fetus!

Think Progress reports that:  ”For House Republicans, this year has been the year of outlandish answers to non-existent problems. And tomorrow, they will offer the magnum opus of their 2011 campaign against a woman’s right to choose: the Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA). The bill seeks to somehow protect the “civil rights” of fetuses by banning physicians from performing abortions based on the fetus’s race or sex. While the woman would be exempt from prosecution, physicians who perform the procedure can be sued for damages. . .”

And who is the “brain child” who dreamed up this one?  None other than GOP Rep. Trent Franks (AZ). His chief motivation, he told the Daily Caller, is to solely to end discrimination, or as his chief proponents argue, the genocide of minority fetuses.”  Do you believe it!  An estimated 40 million Americans are out of work and we are paying these jackasses $174,000 a year plus benefits to pull stunts like this?  They are mocking the American people.  If you can’t see that, then you need to open your eyes a little wider.  These Wall Street multimillionaires in Congress are mocking the American people.

__________________________________________________

ILWQ Interpretation:  Why do they mock the American People in our time of severe need?

And why do members of Congress continue to push ridiculous legislation that does absolutely nothing to address the severe economic crisis that the American people are facing and have been facing for three full years?  They do it, folks, because job creation translates less money in their pockets from their Wall Street investments.

Yes, unfortunately, it is just as simple as that.  Jobs mean labor costs and “cost” is a word that Wall Street millionaires do not want to hear.  Cost translates into reduced dividend payments to them on their Wall Street investments. In other words, Congress has a conflict of interest when it comes to job creation because job creation quite literally takes money out of their pockets. As long as we have a 44% showing of millionaires in Congress, you can just suck it up if  you are a member of the 99%.

Trent Franks creator of this ridiculous time-wasting bill.
If you go to Open Secrets, you will learn why Mr. Franks pushes such distracting, unproductive legislation that will do little to help the 99%. There you will learn that Mr. Franks has a net worth of  $56,250,000.00

Mr. Trent Franks has $5million invested in Commercial Banks and $5 million invested in oil and gas.

______________________________________________

What can the 99% do about it?  They can start using their brain and stop buying into their political cliches and worthless campaign slogans.  They can start standing up to these crooks by not voting for them in 2012.

In 2012, the 99% can vote for Independents like me instead of Wall Street millionaires like Pete Sessions.

Yes, it is as simple as that.  In addition, the 99% and their friends can run for office as Independents too.  Yes, it most certainly is a class war and I’ve been saying that for five years. And no, I don’t have anything against millionaires–only those who made their millions on the backs of the American workers.  It just happens that number includes the majority of them.  But the ones that are particularly despicable to me are the millionaires in Congress who take their salaries and health care benefits from the American taxpayers while they continue to do nothing but represent their own personal Wall Street stock portfolios to the detriment of the  99%.
