The so-called Black Bloc that tried to disrupt Occupy Oakland on November 2, 2011, might not have been an anarchist group after all. After carefully studying a CBS News video of the Black Bloc’s attack on Whole Foods http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/video/6413167-team-coverage-occupy-protesters-march-on-port-of-oakland/, there is one conclusion that is very easy to reach.
The Black Bloc looks and acts like a SWAT team.
The only question that remains is, “Whose SWAT team is it?” Hint: Not ours.
Perhaps “Black Bloc” is only a partially correct name for this group. Perhaps “Black Water” might be an even better moniker for them.
According to Global Research http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=19928, this wouldn’t be the first time that agent provocateurs have been used at citizen protests against the nefarious One Percent. ”A union leader called out a group of ‘black bloc anarchists’ who were picking up rocks [at a Canadian demonstration in June 2010]. The real black bloc protesters were shouting ‘POLICIER! POLICIER’, the would-be-rock throwers got up and cozy with the cops in the hats and bats, and quickly got themselves ‘arrested’ (and treated very gently by the police I might add.’ Turns out they were wearing the same brand of boot that the riot cops were wearing.”
“But, Jane, you’re just being paranoid,” you might say. Nah. We already know that these One Percent dudes are capable of doing ANYTHING to win. Fix elections, bomb countries, support dictators, steal from the Middle Class, plunder pensions, assassinate democratic heads of state, rig the stock market…. Why would they bother to start playing by the rules now?

Honestly, I think OccupyX needs to be tough with vandals. I don’t know the legal restrictions, but in principle, I have no problem with any OccupyX group arming themselves with duct tape, and, when they find a vandal in their midst breaking things, group tackling him, duct taping his hands together, and delivering him to the police. With lots of video, of course.
If anybody has knowledge of applicable laws (citizens’ arrest?), please comment.
BTW, I’ve seen video of agent provocateurs who made mayhem during some Canadian demonstration, then ran through and behind police lines, and one of the policmen was dumb enough to pat one of these goons on the back.
Let’s be clear, here: Vandals can certainly cost OccupyX the moral support of the majority of the country, if they’re not checked.
Uh, lot of different brands of shoes and boots have that yellow tag on the sole. Do a google search on “Vibram sole”.
But the “black bloc” crowd does look very organized, focused, and energetic, doesn’t it? Agents provocateur indeed.
If you have the photo and video substantiation, you can certainly deliver them as per this comment.
I think you are correct, Jane.
Hard to check them if they were in sent in by the cops.
actually…funny you should mention footwear:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_bloc#Police_infiltration
“In August 2007, Quebec police admitted that “their officers disguised themselves as demonstrators.” On these occasions, some were identified by genuine protesters because of their police-issue footwear.[23][24]”
I’d suggest walking down any street in America and seeing how many times you can find 75% of folks in any small group wearing footwear with heavy duty Vibram soles.
I just noticed, and since it isn’t explicitly stated anywhere above, I’ll assume others may have missed, as I did, that it is one cop and two demonstrators wearing the same boot soles.
Furthermore, the degree of wear among all the soles is quite similar.
I also think it unusual that two dirty hippies of the anarchist variety would have boot soles in as good condition as the arresting cop.

Jane, while I do not feel this is completely impossible, it is apparent you are using a photograph from a 2007 Quebec protest where provocateurs were identified by their police issued shoes. The original photo can be found in this article: http://www.anarkismo.net/article/6229
Please do not use misleading images – it only sets supporters back in being taken seriously.
The image is NOT from Occupy – it is from a 2007 protest in Quebec. This article is misleading you, here is the original image: http://www.anarkismo.net/article/6229
Jane doesn’t suggest the image is from an Occupy. The paragraph immediately below the pic clearly refers to “a Canadian demonstration in 2010.”
But when you click the link in the first line of that paragraph, the story it links to, and from which the quoted matter in the paragraph was pulled, was written in 2010. That piece uses images of BOTH the 2007 (Quebec) and 2010 (Toronto) actions in drawing a parallel between the “boots on the ground” in BOTH actions, neither of which was in the Occupy “era,” but from which we should learn.
Oh, and recommended!
How so? Again, I don’t know about legal restrictions. But OWS’ers are mostly young. I expect at least half to be male. Are you saying that dozens to even hundreds or thousands of young males can’t overpower somebody who is smashing windows, and tie his hands together with duct tape?
It’s more than just the ‘organized and energetic’ or the similar Vibram soles (Newsflash – I have Vibram soles on one pair of shoes and they have a different print, so the similarity still means something). It’s the lack of creativity with the graffiti – a dead giveaway that they aren’t from the right side of the dispute. It’s the bandanas that match. It’s the fact that the security and cops inside the banks threaten them with arrest or pepperspray but never seem to actually act. It’s the fact that their vandalism is used to justify an attack on a crowd six hours later.
The “black bloc” stinks of vegan – entirely plant life.
