President Obama has just promised to take action against those who kill children in cold blood. One thing that he could do immediately to carry out this promise is to stop killing innocent children with his guns, missiles and drones — for no other reason than because they were born in Afghanistan or Pakistan or Palestine instead of in Connecticut.
400 innocent Palestinian children were shot in cold blood in Gaza during Cast Lead I. 48 innocent children and 12 innocent women were shot in cold blood in Gaza during Cast Lead II. Unarmed, these innocent women and children were slaughtered as they stood and had no weapons in the face of their killers — who were armed to the teeth. Tell me again how this is different (and more justified) than what happened in Connecticut?
PS: The shooter at Sandy Hook pretty much fits the national profile of a young person who had been prescribed anti-depressants and consequently the drugs made him nuts — a la Columbine. You cover all the bases, Jane. It is unconscionable for this country to be resupplying weapons to Israel, which country has used up its stockpile of US supplied weapons by murdering Gazan children.
To do so is a crime against humanity of international standing.
And the condition in which this administration deliberately leaves the ongoing epidemic which is traumatized youth badly educated into that same violent mentality to be shunted from one ‘loaded weapon’ medication to another in a health care system that is geared only to the profit of Big Pharma and Big Insurance with a benefit (rapidly receding) only to the very well off (most of whom will go to other countries for care if they can afford it) -
is an impeachable offense, a crime of domestic malfeasance.
You may well weep, Mr. Obama. And excuse us for supposing those tears to be crocodile tears. We cannot do otherwise. Your abysmal record speaks for itself. We’ll say we were wrong when and only when you change your tune.

A good place to begin would be to cancel that shipment at the same time as you call for the same kinds of laws concerning gun ownership that civilized countries already have in place.
In yet one more display of breathtaking hypocrisy Chief Butcher Barack Obama whimpered his way through the obligatory White House response to the Connecticut killings. Unlike the worthless gook lives of the children he is responsible for murdering in Central Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East, it appears that this latest domestic massacre wasn’t properly authorized. These particular kids weren’t naughty, they were nice. Because the Butcher has a kill list and he’s checking it twice.

I was trying to write something snarky, but I can’t because the whole situation is too sad. Our politicians do not see children of primarily non-European people as quite human. Therefore, they are really killing people, just potential terrorists. Eventually the families of the dead children will realize that we (I’m including the idf and zionist militants) have done them a favor by culling out eventual trouble makers. The multiple drone hits on a single target are only killing terrorists. When you shoot a 15 yo boy playing soccer in a field you know that he was really getting ready to fire rockets into inhabited areas so it was preventive. Again, over time, the families of the victims will realize how right we were and give us heart-felt thanks. As juliania says above, until o stops the killing of other children, it is meaningless for him to weep over the children killed in such a gun crazed atmosphere.

The violence we rain down on the people of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya cannot be separated from the violence that is visited upon us by our citizens. You cannot grow up in the U.S. without having been taught and having learned the false lesson that America believes some people are more worthy, more valuable than others. From the slaughter of Native Americans to the enslavement of Africans and their children.to the demonization of immigrants even to this day, America picks and chooses the lives it will respect and protect. Until we begin to value all people we value none because at any moment because you are poor, because you are mentally ill, because you are physically ill or because of your sexual orientation even because your political views do not fit into a tidy little box, you can become worthless to such a system and thus expendable. Violence begats violence . Stop the violence on all levels not just the gun violence, but the foreign policy violence, the budget violence against the poor and the political violence against the dissenters. Drop our John Wayne, Dirty Harry Kill Bill society and maybe we will have some hope some day.
Your comments remind me of the attitude that slave owners had toward slaves back in the Ole South — that you could do anything to them because they weren’t human. And as Frederick Douglass said in his excellent autobiography, the slave owners who claimed to be the most Christian were the ones who inflicted the worst torture.

When will he feel sorry for all the children his policies murdered in Palestine, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
In terms of gun control the first step and most obvious step is to disarm the police and the military.
Police – federal, state, including the national guard and local – should be forbidden to carry or use guns, tasers and other potentially lethal weapons.
The US military, the world’s largest and most lethal terrorist organization, should be brought back to the continental US, disarmed and discharged. Mercenaries in the employ of US companies should be disarmed, withdrawn to the continental US, arrested and prosecuted as gangsters.
