We need to deal with the issue of pre-existing conditions. The people who need healthcare will never get it as long as the industry is able to exclude pre-existing conditions and retroactively invalidate policies for minor ailments that were left off applications.
I was at a rally in New Orleans tonight and person after person came to the megaphone and told their personal story of being denied health insurance at any price. One young woman who recently lost two jobs said she needed an operation on her spine to prevent her from being paralyzed. She looked to be not older than 30. Her family offered to pay for her insurance. She was denied by every company she applied to.
A grandfather spoke about how his grand-daughter’s lazy eye treatments were eliminated from being covered after an automatic electronic payment mysteriously disappeared along with any notification the policy was to be cancelled. The company told them to make a new application. The company then proceeded to cover all family members but the little girl that needed treatment.
A mother came to the megaphone and detailed how happy she was that her two children had the SCHIP public option. She on the otherhand is uninsurable and is 26 years old. What kind of future do those children have being raised by a mother with no way to get adequate healthcare. How is their mother going to support them when she is sick?
We need the public option NOW!
I swear I am so unbelievably shocked at the ignorance and hate and dehumanization. Hannity, Beck and Savage have created this. This is caused by irresponsible media. What can be done? Could this “mob” grow out of control and start shooting? I’m afraid the answer is yes. I am terrified for our President.
I think Twitter is a good way for the average Joe to speak his mind and speak from experience. I think we need to get small businesses to be more vocal.
I have a hard time believing that this video is authentic.
The rational way to deal with the problem is to do it the American way. PRIVATE insurance covering private people. Everyone in America gets health care, but not everyone is entitled to health coverage.
Why not? Health care isn’t a human right?
The wingers have sunk so far that it’s hard to believe any actual responsible thinking people can follow their talking points without embarrassment.
