Today, a chapter of the grassroots group of billionaire health insurance executives, the Billionaires for Wealthcare, headed down to our nation’s Capitol. Why? To thank the teabaggers assembled by Michele Bachmann and most of the Republican Party for their support – protesting so hard to preserve the right to put profits over people.
They chanted, they sang, they drank champagne. And then they headed into the halls of Congress to serenade the lobbyists and Congressmen, who were right then having lunch in the Capitol cafeteria.
Check it out:
The Billionaires singled out particular Representatives at the event for their service:
- Rep. Michele Bachmann (R – MN) – who has taken $200,000 in campaign donations from health care interests
- Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) – who has taken $2.4 million
- Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) – $1.3 million
- Rep. Scott Garret (R-NJ) – $240,000
They spent some time glad-handing with Randall Terry, and got an inexplicable thumbs up from Congressman Keith Ellison, who represents just about everything they abhor.
It was a stirring display of patriotism – thousands of teabagging citizens arrayed on the Capitol grounds, just ready to yell that their Representatives. And dozens of Republican Members of Congress, who’ve done so well doing the insurance industry’s bidding. All in all, a good time was had by all.
Huzzah!

The Billionaires tell the truth; so does Eric Massa.
*********
“Blue America’s Rep. Eric Massa went on the House floor and made an impassioned call to end the Afghanistan war.
To date, according to the non-partisan Congressional Research Service, the American taxpayer has spent or committed $300,000,000,000 to fund this war. That breaks down to:
• $101,694,915.25 per day for 2,950 days;
• $986.84 per person since our population is roughly 304 million;
• $3,947.36 for each American family of four.
And the greatest cost of this war is of course the 912 American troops killed, and 4,198 wounded. This of course does not include the thousands of internal wounds that our troops must bear for the rest of their lives.
My fellow Americans, the time to bring this war to a conclusion is now and we must stand with a clear voice and demand it. The war in Afghanistan has lasted five times longer than World War I and twice as long as World War II. When 1/3 of Hamid Karzai’s ballots were thrown out for voting fraud and Abdullah Abdullah declined the runoff election due to the rampant corruption in the system, the world saw what we already knew – it is simply impossible to impose a democracy on a nation that does not want it.”

An amazing video.
So glad they were there. Not so crazy about the music over the top of the video think I would rather hear what they are saying.
Yahoo throw the teabaggers contradictions right back in their faces.
They may have a few more clips coming so you’ll be able to hear. Will post.
I LOVE the billionaires.
Not since Firesign Theatre has there been such mockery of such sophisticated taste and excellence of anarchistic achievement.
Damn, they is good.
*G*
Great use of humor to show up the contradiction of teabagging, supposedly grass rootsists trying to fight cost containment in the name of objecting to the strain on the economy; no wonder the baggers just Don’t.Get.It.
Sorry you all had to spend a nice day dressed in tuxes and such, tho.
These people are great !!
Gotta have a sense of humor in this debate , it’s an excellent way to keep from becoming angry and bitter
Talked a few friends into going uptown for our annual Halloween party Athens Ohio as Billionaires for Wealthcare. Four years ago we went up with a group of Athens folks as “Billionaires for Bush’
My dear friend John posted this at his site about his new book about our night out as Billionaires. John is a writer, David Moran is an architect here in Athens and me.

Oh that’s awesome! Great shot!
It’s definitely true that not everyone gets it…
I love the Billionaires!
When we went out five years ago as the “Billionaires for Bush’ most of my friends could stay in character. I had difficulty when so many people would be perplexed. This is just unbelievable to me. We came up with some generalizations after that night out. Again the international and African American students would get it almost immediately, the what we call the “meatheads” would cheer and say yes yes yes.
You know the ones who think they are going to be one of the rich fat cats some day
You can be one too! Show up at one of the teabagging events in your neck of the woods. You can go and down load the signs at their site. Interesting watching peoples reactions
These guerrilla theater activists have more guts than 98% of the people in Congress, you know the ones that are supposed to be representing the people.
The best chant we usually do is “Bring back Bush!” Everyone joins in, and they don’t get the joke.
I really do need to practice staying in character. Somehow it just gets under my skin when they do not get it
