As the video demonstrates the MSM’s record low ratings with the American people is well deserved. In the case present, Mr. Dyson should have never left the safety of his MSNBC sanctuary. The price he had to pay, but was unable to afford, was to engage in a real debate where his partisan talking points had little value. Glen Ford puts it on him and clarifies That Obama is ” the more effective evil” and does so with overwhelming facts. Dyson got a bit confused along the way, didn’t he? Admitting some of Obomba’s failures, then trying to walk them back.

Ford is right, Obama is the more effective evil.
Dyson is a tool and a fool and is full of shit and condescending comments. His message that Obama is the best we can get so don’t even try to get someone better is idiotic.
I’m gonna do my little bit to get someone better. At this point, I’m still supporting both the Green party and the Justice party although I’m currently leaning strongly toward Jill Stein.
If Romney wins, so be it. Democrats and self-described progressive organizations and web sites can then go back to putting some effort into stopping right wing policy.
If Romney wins, it will be a real hoot watching them all go crazy trying to figure out how to go about demonizing Romney as he carries on with Obama’s policies.

So which is it? “Electrifying” or this-is-the-best-we-can-do-so-let’s-just-end-the-discussion-right-now? It can’t be both, so Dyson (and every other mealy-mouthed centrist apologist with the sheer gall to label himself a progressive) needs to make up his fucking mind. No one is “electrified” by vastly diminished expectations, and I’m sick of being told to settle.

Sure, it can be both, for people who talk out of both sides of their mouths. Lying is an effortless activity for them, one hallmark of a sociopath.
Sad to say, but Mr. Ford speaks the inconvenient truth. It’s reassuring to see (some) African Americans willing to criticize the first black president for being overly-deferential to the overly-corporate status quo.
Ford did well, but neglected a few things – like the trade deals. Plus, he said he was going to vote for Obama anyway.
Heh. A blogging friend and I were talking about this at the beginning of the month, after the interview. She said that some people on a social networking site she visits were saying that Ford said that.
I was extremely dubious, as was she, so she went and dug this out of the rushed transcript, and while it’s a bit more…nuanced…than I might have expected, he *does* have to live with his family. ;o)

You, of course, may have heard him say he’ll vote for Obomba somewhere else.
My antennae went up when Dyson got defensive and referred to Ford’s telling the truth about Obama as “narcissism”. That is just a ‘high class’ form of name-calling used to discredit Mr. Ford.
While the Dems and the Rs go at it in their pre-election mud-slinging, the politicians continue down that slippery slope to harming Social Security. Susie Madrak has a couple of posts on this over at Crooks and Liars. I recommend them and also Karoli’s post too.

Late comment but Ford didn’t say he was going to vote for Barry, he said he wants his associates who plan on voting for him to know and acknowledge what they are really voting for.
Dyson and all the other lightweight leftists who are willing to accept this social-climbing careerist corporatist tool being the best we can do are actually admitting and accepting defeat.
Glen Ford did not say that he, personally was going to vote for Obama.
Ford said that people he knows and are close to are going to vote for the Warmongering, Austerity Driving, Civil Liberties Destroying, Labor Crushing Democrat.

Of course the scary thing is that what Dyson is saying resonates heavily with Ds, liberals, and those on the left. Many of these folks would see the same interview and agree with Dyson overall.
Why else do you think all these folks will vote for O? Because they do see him as the lesser of two evils. They agree with diminished expectations.
If they didn’t, they would vote for Stein or Anderson, or another third party. But they won’t.
And at the end of the day, IMO, that’s it. That’s the ball game. That’s why we’re circling the drain. And it will continue.
BTW, O will win because he is more effective evil for the 1%. Only O, a “black” D can gut SS. Thus we have our winner. Instead of that joke on the R side (honestly, they’re destroying their own campaign, I don’t even think O has to do anything, just watch Romney implode).

There was something very Sarah Palin-like about Dyson’s performance.
Not only in the way he buries a viewer’s ability to process what they are hearing with layer upon layer of word-salad … but also in the way he sort of ignored the direction debate had turned to offer a seemingly pre-rehearsed talking point focused at “the left” which didn’t really fit the topic being raised.
