Under a bright sun on an unseasonably chilly morning, Joe Biden came to the heart of horse country in Ocala, Florida today.

Dancing Horses Farm

Dancing Horses Farm provided a wonderful venue for a gathering estimated at 3500 people. A crowd of 3500 is very impressive, as Marion County, where Ocala is located, is deep red politically. Contrast that crowd, in a small town on a weekday morning, to the crowds of only 5000 and 7000 that Sarah Palin drew over the weekend in the much more densely populated I-4 corridor. Biden delivered a fiery speech to an enthusiastic crowd. As the picture below was snapped, he was again noting that John McCain has been more of a sidekick than a maverick.

Biden in Ocala

Noting that we are approaching Halloween, Biden told us that John McCain dressed as an agent of change is a costume that just doesn’t fit.

More importantly, Biden repeatedly worked the theme of uniting the country. He mentioned that our problems are too big and our politics are too small when we rely on division and Rovian tactics. I think he’s been reading Joe Galloway, because he also said that Barack Obama has been appealing to our better angels. He closed by revving the crowd to maximum noise levels for our once again being "one nation, under God, indivisible."
