David Cay Johnston explains to Lou Dobbs how Alan Greenspan convinced Congress to use Social Security “Reform” to force Americans to overpay into the system with which they later used to transfer $1.7 Trillion dollars from the middle-class to the wealthy as tax cuts.

Old news but still valid; hope Obama sees this. BUT, as JOhnston has said on MOyers, ‘the war is over; the rich won.’
Money laundering (of social security and illicit drug revenues) is directly tied to both the mortgage and financial debacle. Read the documents linked at comments #1, #2 and #4 here:

Thank you john in sacramento.
Ron Paul just “blew up” CNBC. They had cut to what they thought was going to be the testimony of Bernanke before a Congressional Committee, and Barney Frank threw it to Ron Paul for a two-minute opening statement, which CNBC aired live at about 10:13 a.m. EST. Paul ripped the existing system, revealed the globalist’s plan for the pending international (single fiat currency) system which is set to replace the dollar system, and proclaimed that it will not work.
CNBC came back to the studio, where Mark Haynes said:
Get your hands on this video from CNBC. It reveals that the entire mainstream media game is rigged – by the bankers.
First-graders are taught to share, wait their turn, and obey (and trust) authority figures.
Right out of the gate, people are set up to be exploited by the political-corporate class.
1. I nominate this post to be a recommended diary.
2. When I click on Read More > at the bottom of Recent Diaries, it doesn’t show me prior diaries… which raises this question about the organization of Oxdown: Can all “recent diaries” be found by scrolling down the main thread?
Read More ought to take one to the list of all diaries in reverse chronological order. At the bottom of each page is a link going to the previous page.
If you start with promoted diaries on the front page of Oxdown, it is true that you will not see all diaries on that list, because only a few are chosen to be on the Oxdown front page.
Hope this helps.
Seconded.

Actually, I think the value of the theft is $1.8 Trillion. Dobbs said 1.7 and wasn’t corrected
