The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is seeking comment on re-starting the Death Penalty in California. The final day for Comments is tomorrow June 30.

… upon the construction of a new execution chamber – in secret and without the necessary legislative approval. At last count, the cost to taxpayers was about $850,000.

The Death Penalty in itself costs the state $250 million annually even without any executions. And that instead of the Death Penalty, giving people a sentence of Life Without Parole would save the state $4 billion

… 1973, over 130 people have been released from death rows throughout the country due to evidence of their wrongful convictions. In 2003 alone, 10 wrongfully convicted defendants were released from death row.

The hearing will be held in the Department of Health Services Auditorium, located at 1500 Capitol Avenue in Sacramento from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

For directions from the Bay Area, take I-80 East toward Sacramento. In Sacramento, continue on I-80 Business Route East. Take the exit onto 1-5 N toward Redding. Take the J Street exit, make a slight right at J Street, turn right at 15th Street/CA-160 and end at 1500 Capitol Ave (at 15th Street).
