I have a number of friends who don’t own televisions, and if this story pans out, I might join them.
Apparently, Balloon Boy’s father Richard Heene is moving forward in his scheme to land a reality show, and the justice system is actually giving him a hand.
Richard Heene intends to seek employment with trips to New York and California… The judge adjusted their bond to allow them to do so, as long as they report to probation services within seven days. (Heene’s attorney Andrew Lane) told the judge that Richard Heene has an "employment opportunity" in New York. Lane declined to elaborate as he left the courtroom, and Heene waved off questions.
Mayumi Heene (Richard’s wife) allegedly told investigators the balloon launch was a hoax aimed at promoting a possible reality television show. Neither she nor her husband discussed their intent during the court hearing and neither apologized.
Our culture is already obsessed with the seeking of 15 minutes of fame. Should this quest for a reality show real become a reality, it would undoubtedly open the flood gates for a frightening array of stunts and pranks from around the world. Any guesses on what might be the most outlandish attempts?
What’s on your mind tonight?

Wow, just think of the opportunities if they’d buried the six year old in a box in the basement instead of in a box in the attic. Shiny things all around.
Disgusting. Will that be before or after they get out of jail?
Possibly while they are in jail. It could be on MSNBC.
Henee and Palin make a very good team of opportunists. Both will absolutely do or say anything to further their money-making plans. They each should be in a joint freak show.
