Expect to hear the word "terraforming" more and more often in the coming years as our environmental crises deepen and multiply. Terraforming is the manipulation of other planets and their moons to make them more like earth – with the goal of making them habitable for human life.
Physicist Lowell Wood contends that Mars could be successfully terraformed by the end of the 21st century, which might convince some that we need to invest our efforts there instead of in saving our earthly habitat.
This would turn our planet into the ultimate disposable commodity, and would bring validation to this disturbing characterization of the human species from The Matrix.

Are you sure that term isn’t ‘terraism’?
This reminds me that when Europeans came over to this country they named places ‘new’ england and brunswick, or just ‘Memphis’ or ‘Paris’ – and I wonder what “Detroit, and, Beijing, Moon” will look like.
