Will the EU read the fine print of this “nafta” deal? the part where they elevate global corps’ interests above their EU and member countries?
Will they subject their established policies regarding the environment, no GMOs, data privacy, GE crops, etc., etc., to the WTO tribunal?
If/when the EU signs this (nafta) “free trade” (treaty) agreement, there “will be a giant sucking sound as all their jobs leave the EU countries” –H.R. Perot.
And the first suit against EU countries will be by Monsanto before the WTO tribunal.
The current EU problems will be insignifigant once they relinquish sovernity to the corps’ WTO tribunal.

Depend how much their retire class can extract from their various economies.
Passage of this deal expands the corporate takeover of the U.S. to the entire developed world. Recc’d
SOS? Hmmm. Save Our Ship? Save Our Souls? Oh! Secretary of State. I swear, texting is destroying the English language’s capacity for communication, or should I just throw out ELCFC and expect you to understand what in the hell I am talking about?
Come on. It’s not THAT hard to spell things out the first time, not if I can do it. And I’m pretty damned lazy(PDZ).
North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA). See how easy that was?
But I quibble. Even overlooking misspellings of “sovereignty” and “insignificant,” you make a salient point. I hope the European people don’t stand for this. Recc’d for that.
I doubt the average European citizen can expect much more from their leaders than we get from ours. Except for the new Prime Minister of Belgium, who has been getting some internet press on his rampages against the various ill conceived policies that now pass as “Needed policy reforms.”
As I’ll overlook the misspelling of ‘rec’d’.
love ya, Barbarian. ;)
But to add to the discussion a li’l bit. Yes, even I’ve penned many posts on the subject since Robert Dumas was banned. Please keep in my that this piece is by an under-secretary of the Treasury under fooking Reagan.
SOS= Shit Oh Shit.
I personally feel that to assume editorial duties is to stifle creative conversation and nail it to the dirt. Readers Diaries are just that. They are in and of themselves, their voice is THEIR voice.
It’s the only way to feel safe enough to use one’s voice. If FDL can’t help people feel safe, then who?
sincerely; end of rant
Besides the forced acceptance of GMO’s, another thing on Wall Street’s wish list is to do away with any talk or enactment of Financial Transactions taxes. Kerry, being one of that group, and his boss Barry, who really really wants to be one of that group will push for those aspects from the beginning.
Europeans have caught on much quicker to who that system helps, and who it crushes. A Fair Trade Deal with Wall Street, to a people who no longer believe in the lobbyists of Brussels, let alone the lobbyists of D.C., will probably bring about the end of the ECU.
I wish Kerry would be satisfied with the $20 billion Heinz deal and stop trying to destroy the world in order to achieve still more transfer of wealth to the 1%.
Kerry is a perfect example of how ambition, greed and the system corrupt people with principles and ideals. He’s been on both sides of that equation–unfortunately spending many more years on the wrong side.
Shit on a Shingle Kerry was my reading and pretty accurate when I finished the title.
I try to not judge a book by its cover but I went to see Kerry way back when, and as I got closer when he was glad-handing, his long, thin, perfectly manicured hand kinda gave me the creeps (looked like “never did an honest’s day in his life) so I backed up and took a picture instead. The hand in that picture, now that you mention it, looks greedy and grasping.
Rec’d.
