Well, well – what a tough day today on the news of the fraudclosure settlement. So what’s a guy supposed to post for a Watercooler? I thought to myself “Self – find a small, human adverse, human moment, with a good outcome.”
So, here we go! Imagine you are a young musician named Lukáš Kmit, and you have worked up your solo viola performance of a difficult piece, and have at last achieved a prominent local concert venue, the Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Presov Slovakia. And in a moment of silence, an artistic neccesity before you continue to the next development, someone’s phone rings…
What a good sport, and also what a very clever performer. Good for him!

Man! What a class act! We should all aspire for that sort of grace. Thank you.
Recommended.
I never heard the phone ring, at what second in the vid does it happen? N what is it the artist does that’s so kewl? I missed it all somehow . . . ?
Ok, had to crank it to the max to hear it. 47 seconds in. So, he didn’t panic, kept right at it.
What were his choices?
Frankly, this whole thing woulda been MUCH more thrilling if he had simply GONE OFF ON THE PUTZ and shamed the person all to hell.
Imagine the potential dialogue . . . *G*
Then it wouldn’t have been a moment of humor and grace.
Listen very carefully to the ringtone.
Then listen very carefully to the music he plays after the phone rings…..
Hint: it is not the rest of the original piece he was playing!
He didn’t keep right at it. He played the ringtone, (albeit a much more nuanced version of it). Geez Larue! Not much of a music lover are ya?
That rates a 100 on the coolness scale.
Yeah, talk about improvising, laughing at yourself and your audience, and humor and grace. That is one cool guy. Mozart would have had nothing on him.
(Seriously, this happens in concerts all the time, though mostly with coughing, more often now with cell phones. I’ve never seen it handled with such aplomb. WOW!)
Very classy musician.
I’m going to play this in a bit, hoping I can hear it…don’t always catch musical subtleties. Right now I’m coughing too hard to hear….
Oh, thanks kelly and all– heard the ringtone, heard the “echo” on the violin…but there’s an excellent chance I wouldn’t have recognized the violinist’s response without being forewarned.
I was afraid I wouldn’t hear the ringing phone…have just enough hearing loss in upper register to miss that sort of thing in videos, but it was very clear.
Thanks. That was fun. Hope the violinist goes far.
I think Che would be disgusted with his lack of discipline.
Che is dead, aside from being a crappy musician.
I think he’d be more disgusted with the current lack of beret selection.
