I declare (ahem ,GENTLEMEN) that Steely Dan’s “The Fez” shall say all I have to say about the contraception kerfluffle amongst certain elites this week. It’s not the 1950s or the 1590s anymore. Mens should def take some, ah, responsibility in these matters.
Just ain’t gonna do it without The Fez on. Works on the safe side for anybody of any orientation. too.

I remain unforgiven and blessed for my love for The Dan.
Ever since Can’t Buy A Thrill and my high school days and shortly after.
Bless Fagin n Becker.
Start to finish, they just had it, that it, they had it.
N bless you Kelly, you got IT, too.
Yer such a hoss.
Allus rcc’d.
N This Is Only One, SO Many Others.
GET IT ON . . .
But to REALLY get it on with Steely Dan one has to get to the first album, the song for ages and Skunk Baxter on git and well, bless Walter Becker, but Skunk owned that first album.
Dang them studio kats (Skunk was from Doobie Brothers for all you who don’t know this stuff).
Reelin Baby!! Live!
Skunk on left in white, Walter Becker in blue, you folks know who Donald Fagin is.
Perhaps the best twin gits of all time, and sOOOOOOOOO underrated.
These guys rival Duane and Dickie, easily.
N damn if that man Skunk didn’t go elsewhere and such.
He sang, picked, slid . . . his short time with Steely Dan and then Doobie Brothers lent him well.
N he is and was, a hoss.
*G*
Yeah, and well, here’s my closer to Kelly’s thread.
Cuz Ya Can’t Buy Thrill.
SOHN!!! These boys could pick and sang.
6 Male voices in harmony, the music and lyrics are insane, to this day.

Ok, easily one of the best love songs of all times.
N I’ve said it before, too.

Rungren, 1960′s or so.
You lovers out there, hang on.

You a Dan Fan?
I was I think about 13 years old. It was summer and I had been out at the local Youth Center in my home town and came in at about 9/9:30. MY dad called me into his room where he was already lying down. He told me that he apologized but he had seen my wallet a couple of days before and had gone through it and seen I was carrying a ‘rubber.’
Dad: “Boy, you know what those things are for?”
Me: “Yassisr”
Dad: “You know how to use ‘em?
Me: “Yassir”
Dad: “Make damn sure ya do.”
Me: “Yassir”
I thanked him for that advice a couple of years before he died. I’m pretty sure he just didn’t want any b*ast*rd grandkids running around but it was about the best advice he ever gave me on most all levels.
Lord, yes! Kid Charlemagne, Black Cow, Asia….these are the things I miss…the most.
and the fez, of course. Ain’t never gonna do it without the fez on!!
Love you, Larue
Props to Mr. Baxter, yes, but the Dan always seemed to have great players on their sessions. Larry Carlton’s solos on “Kid Charlemagne” and “Don’t Take Me Alive” are as kick-ass as it gets. Great work also on “Ruby,” from Fagan’s “Nightfly”.
