Hi, y’all.
Here’s the People’s Bailout Telethon, the kickoff to the Rolling Jubilee. John Washington gave us a great introduction to the action earlier today. Enough money to forgive almost 5 million dollars in debt has been raised already as of this writing. You can follow livetweets at #RollingJubilee and #PeoplesBailout.
Coming soon I’ll have more about the Gulf Port 7 trial, and an update on the Keystone XL pipeline protests — 4 arrests at a New Orleans protest today including Twitter journalist @Small_Affair.
This is the latest open thread. What’s on your mind?

I have been watching. Donations received to buy and forgive $5,245,376 of debt as I type this. Sweet! Looks like abt 5 cents on the dollar. Let me see, bank bailouts, underwater mortgages, — whut?
It’s such a smart action because it not only directly helps people, but it also highlights the hypocrisy of the whole system, and the claims that we don’t have enough money to help people — in the same way Occupy Sandy uses people power while simultaneously highlighting government ineffectiveness.
