Hi, y’all.

We’ll hear plenty of stories and see enough videos of people acting mean to each other in the pursuit of ridiculous bargains in the days to come. This evening let’s unwind with this lovely mini-documentary by Democracy Now! about the life and times of Woody Guthrie. It’s been interesting to watch the rise of Occupy and the modern flood of worker & class activism in a year which also marked his 100th birthday. Musicians like Tom Morello have done much to keep this connection fresh in the minds of activists.

Speaking of Democracy Now! and host Amy Goodwin, I’ll be hosting her for a Firedoglake special book salon on Tuesday, November 27 at 11am PST. We’ll discuss the book she cowrote with Denis Moynihan, The Silenced Majority. I hope you’ll join us then.

Did you have a great Thanksgiving, for those who celebrated? I was at an Occupy potluck with a selection of food and then we went to have some fun at a Walmart in solidarity with the workers.

Tell me what’s on your mind, this is our latest open thread.
