Still struggling with this cold or whatever it is — definitely feeling kinda sickly today. Drinking lots of fluids & the usual. It’s always extra hard to string words together when I feel like my whole brain is wrapped in cotton. But they come anyway, with enough patience and persistence.
MzChief shared this Natalie Merchant video, from a great 1999 live performance, on my post earlier today.
Tell me what’s on your mind tonight. This is our Saturday watercooler open thread.

Neti user here also, as required, but at the first signs of a sinus infection or sore throat, (all remedies I read about are adamant about intervening early) I slowly and thoroughly chew up an extra large clove or two of raw garlic with a wedge of sweet apple. The apple cuts the eye-watering heat delivered with most of my garlic, but is also a great taste combo and whether or not it helps to relieve sinus congestion or stops a cold, it will momentarily distract you from your misery.
Natalie OWNS the shimmey shake, a golden voice for the ages, and my secret lust in my heart for her.
May dawg bless for sendin us Natalie Merchant over the years.
End of story.
The acid guitar is straight outta George Clinton N Maggot Brain, bless that shit, too. Stellar, just epic. Turn it up LOUD, people.
A shimmy for the ages!
Wow sounds tasty. Now I just need some apple pie. even if it doesnt help, like you said I will be delightfully distracted.
For a simple snack, include a thin slice of your favorite cheese. Tart apple vs. sweet apple is another variation. Not quite Food Sunday, but I don’t cook everyday.
I think she’s up there with with Leonard Cohen. It looked like a neat show she did with the Oregon Symphony when she came to Portland this last October.
