One of Austin's many Titty Bingo bumperstickers.
Last week I made a comment on my Twitter about the band Titty Bingo. Mass quantities of the group’s bumper stickers have been given out around Austin, to the point that I suggested the sticker was more ubiquitous than the band itself. Through the wonders of Twitter, Titty Bingo replied to assure me that they are still very much around with a large discography worth hearing. So this video, which comes from a 1994 Farm Aid performance, is my way of apologizing.
What’s on your mind? How was your weekend?

BINGO! Tee Hee!
:)
Those were some good blues; Stevie would have enjoyed them.
But now that you’re on their radar, how about offering them some serious fashion advice? Yikers! ;o)
I have a question about images we can use. Awhile back, Brian Sonenstein almost seemed to say that since Flickr.com is very secure, when we find photos or movement graphics we need, we might upload them to our flickr photostreams and use them. For instance, I’ve been trying off and on to do a post about the Zapatistas emerging on the 21st, and none of the photos are in the Creative Commons. Likewise many of the posters advertising actions and movements.
Any advice or clarity you could offer would be appreciated.
You can upload photos to your own flickr & use them as long as you have permission to use them. You don’t need to put them in the creative commons in that case. As far as legally/ethically I would reach out to the photograher of any pics & get their permission to post any photos you want to use. Usually they say yes in my experience!
In the case of posters & memes relating to a movement, action or event those kind of images are designed explicitly to be shared aroundto publicize an upcoming event. Likewise, if for example Tar Sands Blockade’s official website releases a photo to publicize an action, and you use it in an article to discuss that action, that seems like both ‘fair use’ and what the movement is intending.
Does that help?
It does help, Kit, although I wouldn’t have a clue as to who to contact for any of these stellar photos. Some from journalist Tim Russo are fine, but he leaves no way to contact him, which…is why I wondered (absurdly) if they might not rejoice over having their work spread for the glory of the movement/s (Idle No More as well).
Aaaaand…it’s probably just my early training in Power to the People and Vive la Revolution!
Thank you, dear. And do consider sharing your fashion advice; a couple of the Titty Bingoers dress worse that even I do!
