Been a long week and I’m glad to have reached the weekend. Occupy Austin is having a potluck (and more?) to honor the one-year anniversary of their eviction from the City Hall camp this Sunday. I’ll write about it here if anything of note happens.
It’s Cartoon Friday, so here’s Simon’s Cat, “The Box.” Simon’s Cat is the creation of animator Simon Tofield. According to Wikipedia:
Creator Simon Tofield revealed that his four cats—called Teddy, Hugh, Jess and Maisie—provide inspiration for the series, with Hugh being the primary inspiration.
You can see lots more of this series on YouTube.
What are your favorite cartoons available on the Internet? I’ll share them if we can in a future installment.
What’s on your mind tonight? This is also our latest MyFDL open thread.

Don’t blame me. You started it!

4. I Did It
5. Billy’s Balloon.
If you’d said “List your favorite satire shorts,” we’d be here all night, LOL!
Simon’s Cat rocks. Almost as much as Henri’ Les Chat Nior
Can’t stop laughing … wonderful!
Oh my. I love Simon’s Cat, and am also a huge fan of anime (Japanese ‘cartoons’, for those who haven’t run into that genre, but the Japanese use anime for anything we would do in a movie). I am currently watching One Piece, I’m current on that one, up to ep 582 as of tonight, Fairy Tale, also current at ep 166 as of last Mon.
I recently finished The K Project, quite enjoyed it, complete at 13 episodes, and Zetzuen no Tempest, an interesting retelling of the Shakespeare play. I’ve just started Arcana Famiglia, not sure if I will stick it out, but Japanese series often take a while to get going, they like to develop all the characters first, so I will be patient for another couple of episodes
My all-time favourites include Captain Harlock, the incredibly charming Oh Edo Rocket and Record of Lodoss War. And too many more to list — srsly.
For Western cartoons, my fav is What’s Opera Doc. Ya gotta love Bugs in drag as Brunhilda. “Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit…”
Great suggestions thanks!
Yeah I hope Henri makes a new film soon!
I like anime but for some reason never developed the taste for it others have. I enjoy it when I watch it but don’t always seek it out. As far as my all time favorite shows, Lodoss War was a good one. I loved Paranoia Agent and the Read Or Die OAV (haven’t watched the TV series).
Thanks for the link to that site, it looks useful. I’ll definitely watch stuff there, though I am not sure yet if it will let me embed the films here or not.
Yeah I totally have to use that one here sometime. The Looney Tunes answer to Fantasia is just too hilarious not to rewatch periodically.
