Here’s a pleasingly kinetic animated music video for the song “Other People’s Property,” by Prototip. My writer friend M. Christian shared it recently and I knew I’d use it here before too long.
We’re all talking about the State Of the Union and Chris Dorner, but what overlooked stories did you read today?
What’s on your mind? This is our latest MyFDL open thread.

Well, Kit, way to make me feel ooolld. Never heard of Prototip; are they well-known, or obscure even to your generation?
What did I do tonight? I read a novel, a thriller by Lisa Scottoline, while watching the rom-com-cum-mystery Castle re-runs on tv. Didn’t watch the SOTU or the coverge of Dorner. Caught early afternoon coverage of the stand-off, then turned off both radio and tv to do some work, until evening.
Usually I do watch the SOTU, but I just couldn’t this year. I am watching the post-speech coverage; it’s easier that way.
It actually sounds like the pres. made Democratic-like sounds – minimum wage increase? Wow, not what I expect from him.
But, as always, he talks good, but then hires people like Geithner and nothing happens.
We shall see.
It’s OK this is my first Prototip song too, as far as I know. I’ve probably danced to them without knowing.
I didn’t watch SOTU either. I met with some journalists, had a veggie burger, shopped for sweatshirts at an upscale thrift store and then rode the bus home in my new purchase as a cold front blew in. I visited with my housemate and her visiting friend and smoked damiana (it’s legal even in Texas). I’ll read transcripts, and I have and will read lots of great analysis on Twitter, Firedoglake, and other reliable sources. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything this way except yelling at the TV.
Hi Kit! Hope you’re relaxing now.
We watched SOTU and yelled at the tv here. The yelling was mildly satisfying.
Other news today I just saw is that the DOJ is going to go after big marijuana distributors in WA and CO. And, the bill to legalize mj in Hawaii didn’t make it out of committee today.
Otherwise, horrified by the Dorner events.
No SOTU, no Dorner. Played Irish Traditional music with friends and fellow musicians at a local pub. Did spend a few minutes talking Occupy with another local activist. Winter is in full swing here in Northern Michigan, lots of snow!
Hey thanks for stopping by here!
Yelling at the TV can be cathartic. I’m horrified we continue to go after cannabis in states which have legalized it. I’m just gonna say it: Fuck you, Obama, and the DOJ.
And yeah, horrified about sums it up for all of this.
What a lovely way to spend the night! Stay warm!
