I’m not too invested in these sorts of days, and I’m spending this one (kind of) alone. I’m dropping in on karaoke night at the local Moose Lodge, which a bunch of friends of mine have adopted in recent years. It should be fun. Or at least boozey.
Tonight’s video is a performance, by street musician Lawrence Glaister, of Leonard Cohen’s classic “Ain’t No Cure For Love.” It might not be note perfect, but there’s something appealing to me tonight about this busker on a busy street that mostly ignores his music.
What’s on your mind tonight? This is our latest myFDL open thread.

Great music! Karaoke with gusto!
Moose Lodge? That must be an interesting combination of folks.
Any idea where the video was made? The singer sounds American, but the buildings look European…
Kit, Keep talking up an Austin Meet-up; we may even get Tej and Peg. We’ll see.
Where was this recorded? Thanks for sharing!
I ended up staying home and spending a bit of time with a friend, after hitting the local food carts. But there was still music and booze.
Yeah it ends up being an interesting mixture of some of the Moose’s older members and my contemporaries. I’ve heard of this happening at other fraternal organizations actually — the membership drops as the originals age and aren’t replaced, but then a bunch of younger people realize they can have a ready made clubhouse (or whatever) by joining…
The YouTube video says it was ‘A cold winter’s day in Århus.’
