Come & Take It Alamo Banner, with a uterus instead of a cannon

The battle cry of angry Texas women.

You’ve probably all heard that the Governor of Texas has called a 2nd special session, said some incredibly nasty things about Wendy Davis, and decried the loss of his hateful bill to what he called an “unruly mob” using “Occupy Wall Street tactics.”

So now, the Unruly Mob has its own Twitter: @UnrulyMobTX. I’ll be one of several people (mostly women!) livetweeting from the account. I’ll still be livetweeting events from my person account, but this new account will aggregate the thoughts and perspectives of activists from many sides of what could be a long and difficult battle.

I’m still gathering my thoughts about what happened Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Look for some more words from me soon.

Update June 28 10:30CDT: Even though the account has followed Twitter’s rules, @UnrulyMobTX has been suspended! I’ve gotten in touch with the account owners in the hopes they can convince Twitter to reinstate our account. If enough people (i.e. Republicans, anti-abortion trolls) report a newer account for spam, it can sometimes be erroneously suspended. Let’s hope we can get it back.

Update 2:45pmCDT: The @UnrulyMobTX is back on Twitter. Stated reason for suspension was “too many unsolicted mentions, replys,” an automated error that often triggers with new activist accounts which become very popular very quickly, in my experience.
