Drawing of Mojo Jojo

A day in the life of supervillain Mojo Jojo.

It’s Cartoon Friday, again!

Some weeks ago at Austin’s “Church Night” gathering of local Burning Man enthusiasts, a conversation began about this Cartoon Friday feature. This week’s selection is one of the shows requested.

The show debuted in 1998 on Cartoon Network, though the characters appeared in other formats, like one-shot cartoon shorts, previously. Created by Craig McCracken, the show features the adventures of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, the three young superheroes created when Professor Utonium mixed sugar, spice, everything nice … and Chemical X. Chemical X also gave rise to one of their recurring enemies, the misanthropic simian supervillain Mojo Jojo.

This episode follows Mojo about his day, which is rudely interrupted by the invasion of our trio of heroes. I love the work of Tom Kenny as the narrator; since then he’s gone on to work on shows like the excellent Adventure Time with Finn and Jake where he voices the Ice King. Roger L. Jackson voices Mojo Jojo, and Wikipedia reports he also voiced the killer in the Scream films!

Enjoy! What are your favorite cartoons? I’ll try to select one for future installments.
