Good morning firedogs. All over the place with the links today. Couldn’t find one specific topic that I wanted to explore further. Here they are.
We have spent quite a bit of time these past few weeks talking about gun control here in the United States. Here is a take on the situation abroad.
Did you folks catch Gun Appreciation Day this past weekend? These people were on the wrong end of it.
Do you have young adult children? Warn them about this guy.
‘Only my own cowardice has kept me from ending it all.’ Harrowing stories of long term unemployment.
The inauguration yesterday was fabulous, no? Here is a list of children killed by drone strikes in Pakistan and Yemen.
Well, all of those links were downers, eh? How about some happier stuff?
Yahoo brings us the best photo bombs of the inauguration.
This dad promised his kids a puppy if their post could get a million ‘likes’ on Facebook. Guess how it turned out?
Here’s a cute kitten.
And here’s a tune.
See you in the comments firedogs.

Good morning folks!
Good morning, Kris. No rant? I was looking forward to digging into it. You rant (and write) so beautifully!
Good morning Kris,
Thanks for the post and host. (only minus 6 this AM)
No rant. Folks here were pretty clear yesterday. They’re not interested in reading that. Got to write to the audience.
Good morning JC. We got down to about 42 overnight. Brrrr. ;)
We’ll should see 74 today.
Gooood Morning all!
Thank you, Kris, for the tune, the links, the fine cheer and for making a father very proud. I would have enjoyed a rant from you.
Good morning. I wonder where everyone is today?
Good morning everyone.
Kris, thank you for the post this morning.
oldnslow, you should be a very proud dad.
Good morning AC2.
I’ve got the world on a string.
I participated in masaccio’s thread last night “Obama’s Second Inaugural Address” early on before my computer went down again.
I was cussing it because the discussion was going good.
Checked back in this morning and my computer did me a favor, the conversation got real nasty later in the thread.
Actually I was surprised that I had service this morning.
Kris, you really do have the world on a string.
Your beautiful family ties come through loud and clear through the pixels.
WI Republicans in control of the state will be pushing to require four instead of two job searches a week to remain eligible for their unemployment benefits and are inserting language into the uncoming proposed budget to further erode worker rights by greatly expanding reasons for an employer to fire any worker and still disallow that person the right to UC. That bit takes labor rights back to about 1932.
Walker had to sit through a little direct tongue lashing yesterday at the MLK Jr day celebration in Madison.
Good Morning to all you presence and those on the way…
chilly, cloudy….hoping for some sun.
I enjoyed much of the ceremony yesterday….Didn’t see much but
listened to alot….
That’s present, I know; stil a bit sleepy;)
Ah, yes. But what sort of world is it at the end of that string? That’s the problem I’ve been contemplating these last couple of days.
Good Morning Everyone
I slept in a bit, so I need to go read and listen to the links.
Sorry you didn’t like the few comments that said please no rants. I’ll try to keep some things to myself. BRB.
Ohio Barbarian had a great conversation thread going, still on the sidebar of recent diaries. It turned nasty as well.
I was on my exercise bike at 7:30, watching yesterday’s UP with Chris Hayes and waiting for Over Easy.
It’s a balmy 4º here this morning, and snowing.
Geez nonq. They’re some relentless assholes, aren’t they? Endlessly attacking every aspect that seems to support the worker.
I follow a couple of Minnesotans on twitter. They’ve had some terribly nasty weather, apparently.
Spotted from one of them yesterday – One does not simply snow shoe into Mordor.
Don’t know why, but that tickled the heck out of me.
Good morning to you as well. We’re supposed to hit mid-70s today. I’m looking forward to it.
Am I the only one who had a very negative reaction to “get a million likes and you can have a puppy”? I have no idea why, but I refused to “like” that. /grump
Kris, as long as you have family, you have everything.
I just can’t resist this one though, seems like we are going to have us a Har-Bowl. *g*
We had a great MLK concert last night, closing as always with “We Shall Overcome” with the symphony and choir (and audience, I suspect, although couldn’t see them). And a breathtaking 14 year old violinist that brought the house down.
I’ve taken to writing it ‘Harbauwl’, just so people see it and wonder how the hell to pronounce it :)
I’m not a big fan of Dad sending his kids out into cyberspace to seek help from strangers.
Wisconsin is such a beautiful state and I used to “live” up there in my younger years. Silver lake near Wautoma was a favorite.
Scuba diving, water skiing, chasing girls all good.
Now, Walker is undoing all the Progressive good of earlier years in Wisconsin history. It will be a long time undoing what he has wrought on the state.
Morning all!
Celebrate Gun Appreciation day! Shoot your neighbors!
Boxturtle (Once we’re all out of ammo, we’ll have us a BBQ!)
Maybe that was it, I dunno. Every time it popped up on Facebook I had the same reaction, and was equally puzzled by my reaction each time. Looks like it had a good outcome for the kids and the adopted puppy, though.
msmolly, sounds like a great concert last night. I love going to those kinds of concerts. Living in the “boonies” it is not always easy to get away to do it anymore.
There was a meme circulating over the weekend –
Thanks. Me, also. Yesterday was beautiful…bright and warm.
It got down to 4F last night, but the wind chill dropped us to about -15. And a whiteout created a 50+ car pileup on I75 near me.
Somewhat more normal weather for this time of year. It can go away whenever it’s ready.
Boxturtle (You know it’s cold when a Husky refuses to go outside)
Okay, I’m back.
I’ve never cared much for Frank Sinatra, though.
So, Kris do you really feel like you’ve got the world on a string or were you being snarky when you wrote this. I’m confused.
But they keep promising its all about jobs, jobs and more jobs. Looking for ways to raise money for mega building road projects, $1.5B or so to repay his campaign contributors, though. The legislature is considering nickle a gallon extra tax or a tax on miles driven per year because higher mile-per-gallon cars travel more miles, are less destructive to pavement, but don’t consume enough gas to sustain the status quo under current gas at the pump, taxes.
Morning everyone and sorry for the typos above.
Those huge accidents always amaze me. We had a massive pileup not far from here a month or so ago (with no snow or ice involved). Scary stuff, all those machines in collision with each other.
I took some time yesterday to hang out in the sun. It was nice. My dog really enjoyed it as well.
I’ll bet he doesn’t give a darn.
Boxturtle (If there was a God, MLK’s Bible would have caught fire when Obama touched it)
Oh, I’ve got the world on a string for sure.
As for Frank, I’m sorry you don’t enjoy him. I posted that version of the song not for Frank, but for the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. I love them. Here’s one sans Frank.
Grump-Grouch. I love seeing parents who can’t say “no” directly having their clean-hands plan explode in their faces.
Boxturtle (my parents had no trouble saying “No” to a puppy until I turned 7)
Not a loving God; so that didn’t happen.
Got you by 8 fewer degrees and a wind chill factor of -32°F. Car was parked out of the wind and got the first sun of the morning for a half hour before we got in. My teen did not complain about sitting in the passenger seat waiting for the school bus this morning.
Oh, you didn’t have to find a version without Frank for me.
We all get to have our likes and dislikes, I’m pretty sure.
It wasn’t until I worked for his daughter Tina and I got an eyeful of that family, that I stopped caring for Frank. Just a personal dislike for creepiness. His voice is alright, I guess.
Like a small kidney stone, we are hoping that this too shall pass.
Aside, I would really hate for anyone to hold my family against me…my daughter may say the same thing ;)
The mood around here really seems to have polarized again. It relaxed after the election, but seems to have reverted back to election-level tension with the inauguration.
There are a couple of diaries that are perfect examples of what I’m talking about. Check out the massaccio piece at the top of the Rec list. Or Ohio Barbarian’s diary in the recent diaries list.
Seems that even here on the left, we can’t differ in our opinions without getting nasty.
I had no idea you worked for the family! You truly are a remarkable person, Ms. Demi. A wealth of experience and knowledge. Much like the cbl.
Oh, I wasn’t holding his family against him. He’s the reason his family is they way they are. You know me better than that, don’t you?
No you are not. Skipped that link thinking what charges can you bring this guy up on?
That’s great….a good outlook for many things…
After viewing Nancy’s Boots Are Made For Walking video, I no longer have anything against Frank. Nice job, Dad!
Boxturtle (And as I recall, it was Bad to have something against Frank. He had friends)
I only worked for Tina at the studio. We weren’t allowed to say His name. We had to call him Mr. S. Lotsa stories which I won’t bore you with. It was creepy and Not Fun.
I think I have Inaugural hangover….Not sure I know anything. But the news today is covering the balls. Great music, I tell you.
I was thinking I would write Mrs. Evers a letter; what a life she has lead….losing her husband when she was so young.
Hey, I liked a comment. I made a $ contribution to the Lake, and then I paid again for liking a comment by getting called a name.
I agree that the polarization is racheting up again.
Do you think he can be beaten in the 2014 election? I was going to ask that when I posted to you earlier.
I had to travel in SW Wisconsin quite a bit during the recall and there were a lot of signs supporting him and against the recall attempt.
I saw that little exchange.
No matter whose opinion I agree with (and it seems I fall on the unpopular side more often than not), I try to be nice to the firedogs around here. I’m sorry that someone was so rude to you.
(Sometimes I fail at being nice, but I’m usually pretty good at it.)
Ah, Kris, I’d say that you are pretty good at what you do 99.9 percent of the time.
When rudeness happens strictly because of a personal grudge, I don’t take it seriously. Too much.
I think the very cryptic and opinated style (not saying that about yours, just in general) tends to elicit that kind of response even when that may not be characteristic for the writer….just a thought. Then the trend has a life of its own….
You’re right. Some folks seem to be very cryptic in their comments, or at least not plainly communicate their intent. This leaves room for all sorts of interpretation. Anyone in a bad mood, or with a chip on their shoulder, can’t help but see things that aren’t there.
The internet is a truly flawed medium for communicating emotional content.
Interesting. Like when a real argument turns into yelling and screaming and throwing things, the fight is about the fight and sometimes the people don’t even remember what started it?
Ermahgerd.
ESPN is talking about the 49ers and the Ravens… PLAYERS! Not Jim and John! Shock. Gasp!
I’m amazed.
At least you were not accused of having a reflection that would crack a mirror. I had to laugh at that.
yeah, but… RAY LEWIS!
Oh, that one hurt. Ouch. When we’re discussing conversations that went “awry”, I think about SD pulling out the troll bingo board. I’m amazed at how calm you always stay, though. You keep to your fact based agenda and that’s an inspiring thing to do. For me anyway, others clearly have different mileage. :)
Yes, to both of you….Nuance just takes more time (if I spelled a word you can read.) Off for a bit… (( forgot to send this)
I think you are correct, RevBev. And I will beat a very dead horse once again and remind everyone that it is really difficult to have a conversation with someone, especially on a more sensitive topic, when we have only words on the screen, with no body language, tone of voice, facial expression, etc. to give statements context. So it is easy to take offense when none was intended.
Someone’s statement may be taken as more confrontational than was ever intended, because we can’t see or hear them.
Likely a safe bet.
Agreed, Molly. I have one edit, though.
So it is “overly” easy to take offense when none was intended. Ha.
We are still actively engaging to hasten the desired remedy. ;-)
All of that..
Good Morning Kris and Firedogs –
Kris – what in the world would ever make anyone send nude/semi-nude photos of themselves to a stranger via cell phone ?!?!
it’s not the nudity, it’s the privacy -
I have attempted t/b honest with myself, questioning whether 22 year old wild ass me would have done it – no @&^%&!$@ way !
And, sometimes things are said that are intentionally and clearly just mean, like some of the things said to oldgold.
That’s it …..You Will agree with me…;)
Good Morning !
. . . and why is the bike still in the garage, Todd ??
I love that….I had a bit of sense even then….and a Dad who would not have been amused…
Morning, cbl. Kris said I remind him of you, a little bit.
Sounds like there’s a back story to the the bike in the garage line.
Though off the immediate hot seat, an entity named John Doe still resides in Milwaukee and Madison. Koch money bought signs and mailed them to people who didn’t even ask for them. Those two brothers are just a pair of the numerous citizen$ united along with Diane Hendricks, the Bradley Foundation and a few others.
Hey fellow Iowan and Lutherite,
Didja notice that I stuck up for ya on the thread? (You and I haven’t agreed on everything but you are invariably polite and logical) :)
Im out….I really do work…BBL
Had me suspecting the possible reincarnation of some previous FDL character actors.
Ego. Competition.
It’s sad to note that many of the so called “Hot boys” at high school won’t even date a girl unless they’ve got at least a topless photo anymore.
Boxturtle (Considered myself lucky to get bikini photos from current date in HS)
It’s always a possibility. You’d think they’d enlarge their list of macros, wouldn’t you?
Check out his twitter feed. It is littered with young women who send nude photos to him, day in and day out. Dozens of them on any given day.
He’s graduated from Revenge Porn and is now building an empire. TV show in the works, filming over the next few weeks. I think it will air on MTV.
the bike thing is just riffin’ off a line from a film we use frequently here – Scooter Boy said he was riding to work this morning — apparently colder than expected
Kris has heard tales of hanging with rock stars, jocks, etc. and of course exotic travel. I wasn’t so much a ‘let’s get high/drunk’ party girl so much as Adventure Girl :D
It’s sad to note that many of the so called “Hot boys” at high school won’t even date a girl unless they’ve got at least a topless photo anymore.
I didn’t know that. How’d you figure that one out? Now, I’m feeling really old.
Yes, I did. And, I appreciated it.
Although, I must warn you, it is a job only for those thick of skin.
Macros as in preconceived responses set to a hot key? Then I suppose, yes.
Ah ha! Does skinny dipping in outside jacuzzis in the Hollywood Hills count? Oh, those days were fun. I’m glad for the memories.
That is exactly what I was trying to say. Thanks for spelling it out. That’s why I mentioned SD’s troll bingo board.
In this case, eavesdropping while in line at the local McD’s.
Boxturtle (in my day, THAT attitude would have never got a date)
Oh, wow. If I was doing research to write about the Hot Boys in HS, I’d probably gain a lot of weight that way.
generational shift ?
– yes, we sat naked in hot tubs together – no big deal, but no one took photos to be posted on the co op bulletin board –
the permanence is what gets me
ha ! I wrote comment #92, unaware of your hot tub reference
I can see where this thread is going.(Do I have to tell about streaking around Martin Luther’s statue with about 22 of my best friends?)
Yes, yes you do. Actually, you just did. Was there alcohol involved?
Well, maybe you and I do share some similarities, beyond The Allman Brothers and Willy Nelson. :)
no s**t ! :D
although some things haven’t changed much at all – I work with lots of young people . . . .
and girls are still ‘sluts’ while boys are playas
We have numerous islands and had access to boats and remote beaches back in the day. Teh hot tubs were a rarity around here. Expensive set-ups to keep the plumbing from freezing in the winter. That would be the hot tub plumbing. ;-)
I am certainly hoping for some action soon on the John Doe investigation. The very fact that it still lives after all the other convictions gives one hope.
Diane Hendricks is another story. We have ABC Supply trucks running throughout our NW Illinois area and some here in our community.
I always wave to the drivers knowing that they are working for a lady
(nice term, for this family oriented post) who would cut their wages if she could get away with it.
During the recall, she donated something like $550,000 to Scott Walker, while being caught on camera asking him to do something about cutting people’s wages.
I would not buy any of the products her company sells.
Sorry for the rant.
Might have been. It was in a pouring rain and we started out sprinting across campus in our underwear to the girls dorm where we did the Can-Can to applause from about 150 girls. Then removed the rest.
Awhile back, I was walking on the street. A VERY pretty girl was in front of me, wearing skin tight pants. She had a designer butt, meaning that if you let male chauvinist pig design a butt this is what he’d have designed.
The bottom of her shirt happened to rise and leave a gap between that and the top of her pants, revealing a tattoo that read in a highly feminine script with hot pink letters “It’s okay to stare”.
Boxturtle (Does you mother know you have that? What will you do when you’re 80?)
Oh, I get it. You’re in fine form this morning, Non. Ha. Plumbing.
Sounds hilarious. Is it a good thing we didn’t have phones with cameras and video making technology. Oh, but the memories are fond.
My generation refers to those as ‘tramp stamps’.
They’re so 2000s.
The new tramp stamp is the chest piece.
Hey, Kris promised a rant and now you obliged. :)
(Once I got my blood running as a coach I had some famous rants in the locker room after lousy first halves.)
So true.
I am glad this thread livened up cuz we all share similar cultural experiences from so many differing perspectives.
Okay, I don’t have anything specific against rants. I had just said that I would pass on a rant that was a blame the parents’ generation. I think that was pretty clear. Kris and anyone else can rant on anything they like. And, I can and should pass on any topics I don’t care for. Prolly should have passed last night.
Rant on, friends.
got ya.
in some ways it’s great they are less inhibited and more in your face about their sexuality than we were – but then I see countless young women attempting to walk in 4 inch stripper shoes — a whole ‘nother deal
Well, she’d best not complain about men staring at her chest is all I have to say.
Boxturtle (I’m betting she had that problem before she got the tattoo)
A lot of the blatant sexuality in my generation’s female population is for the wrong reasons, though. They’re attempting to grab attention, rather than truly expressing themselves.
The ones who truly express themselves, I applaud. The ladies that are just flaunting, or crying out for acceptance, I could do without.
On the flip side of the coin, a lot of the blatant sexuality from the male population in my generation is for the wrong reasons as well. Rap music is a great example. Hunter Moore is another.
These tattoos are becoming increasingly popular. They’re typically large and draw quite a bit of attention.
I think these tattoos are moronic. While one can easily cover something on the small of their back, it’s a lot more difficult to cover something on the top of your chest/bottom of your neck. Especially the way women’s clothes are made now.
And I agree. Her chest likely got a fair amount of attention before the tattoo. Tattoos in that location seem like a permission slip to stare.
fine, but what is the equivalent for young men ??
p.s. I used to keep Deirdre and Oliver in line by threatening to get a tramp stamp – highly effective :D
Or could be symptoms of Seasonal Affected Disorder. Going out for my natural light-box treatment now, a hot mug of coffee, a lawn chair in the full sun, fully out of the wind with the local shopper to check the upcoming weekend entertainment/events section. Ten to fifteen minutes, I am fully clothed, sister. :)
Thanks Kris, great to be able to participate. Likely to check back later. A good day to everyone.
For young men I think the equivalent are the full sleeve tattoos. Men like to draw attention to their arms.
I think it’s fucked up that women have to draw attention to their naughty bits, while men can just flex a bicep.
then it is incumbent upon young women – ‘a mere full sleeve playah ?’
again, this boomer will be happy when both girls and boys are ‘playahs – jesus, I heard some 20 something use the term nympho recently – ayfkm ????
There are some women out there who fully embrace their sexuality.
I think being a ‘playa’ involves a certain amount of demeaning your partners. Seeing them as less than, somehow. I wouldn’t ever want to be a playa.
Once, and only once, I threatened to sell my daughter to the gypsies. I guess the modern day threat would be to put the kid on Craig’s List. We’ve threatened the dog with that a few times.
yesterday’s sugar fun . . .
first two photos – royal icing !
thanks for the post Kris
hope everyone has a good and interesting day
also highly effective – I use to keep their moody asses in line in public by threatening to either sing hip hop or dance like Al Gore . . . in front of the Gap :D
Have a great day everyone.
Will check back later since I learn so much from you all in EPUland.
We tell the kids sometimes that we’ll sell them if they don’t shape up. Kind of a running joke.
A guy offered to buy Alexia from me while Kristen was pregnant.
In an Applebee’s bathroom.
$50,000.
I threatened to beat the shit out of him if he didn’t leave the restaurant immediately.
He left.
I like your style, cbl.
You have a good day too. I’m contemplating doing some weeding outside and maybe planting more lettuce. It’s a life.
Oh, for realz? That’s sick and I’m proud of you for making the threat and not just whomping on him first.
Soooo impressed! Kewl.
He was REALLY rude about it. I’d have gone to $75K if he’d been a little nicer.
Boxturtle (thinking I should have just cut him out and talked with Alexia)
That’s it for me too. For now.
Oh, boy. I’m going to Lowe’s. It hasn’t rained for a couple of weeks and some plants in the yard are looking a little puny. But, I’ll weed and clean before I water. It’s more satisfying that way.
Thanks for the post and thread leading, Kris. Please know that I would never censure you. I may voice a preference now and again, but that’s not the same as censoring you or playing at modding.
I don’t care much for tattoos, especially the full sleeve type. Little ones here or there ar okay.
Morning Kris, good to see you!
Pam Spaulding is out of the hospital, so please stop by and wish her a speedy recovery.
http://pamshouseblend.firedoglake.com/2013/01/22/news-on-life-after-the-l5-s1-slice-and-dice/
addendum: Tim Russell Sentencing
I was actually just reading her post. I’m glad she seems to be coming through okay. The repeated fever incidents seem a bit frightening. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for her that she only gets better from here.
A very interesting post! I’ve had back surgery (laminectomy) but not as major as Pam’s surgery. It was like a miracle.
If I walked over to the local Chase branch and stole $20,000, and was arrested and found guilty of the offense, I would face 5 to 99 years in prison.
Yes, I guess stealing from the 99% has different consequences. Why Walker gave him the position and basically cut out the prior group of veterans who ran the small program previously (merit pay for Russell’s political favors?)is the real money question to hopefully come to light.
I’m glad that happened for you.
Hope that miracle gave you a positive attitude towards technology and a sympathetic view on on others.
Yes. And, I’m hoping that more people Hear the voices of dissent.
Even if they are not the Very Special people who voice dissent on the other threads.
I find it all very sad.
All of it, very sad.
Russell’s ‘political favors,’ is an inept description, sorry. It would be a position for Russell rewarding years of political campaign work loyalty on behalf of Walker, plus placing a trusted campaign operative in a position with access to a small pile of money that could potentially be diverted for purposes not originally intended. Just my humble opinion there, idle specutlation.
We all wonder what information John Doe elicited for the prosecutor recommendation of a reduced sentence.
(Still trying to learn to communicate accurately)
Hello, everyone. Slow reading through comments today. Last refresh didn’t work; had to close fdl and re-open. Am lounging on my bed with two kittehs; one sleeping, one bathing.
Finally got the cranberry bread I’ve been wanting baked, so the house smells good. Should be cool enough to cut soon.
Cbl, those “miscellaneous sugar art” photos are amazing. My fave, of course, is the panda head.
That clip of Walker listening to Ms. Rozga is kinda fun. I stil don’t understand how he managed to beat recall. I wish I could figure out a way to efficiently counter the right-wing propaganda and educate people on how they are voting against their own interests.
But for now, I’m focusing on the small stuff I know I can do, and on my own (rather small-bore) work.
Demi, cbl, it sounds like you were a tad more adventurous than I (of course, hot tubs were rare in my youth), but still, must agree that it’s good everyone wasn’t carrying cameras and constantly taking (and posting!) pix. No doubt there’s stuff I’ve forgotten that would be still around to remind me of a foolish evening decades ago.
Also, think it’s good tatoos were pretty much not even on the radar. So permanent!
ALEC legislation and tactics, oodles of right-to-work-for-less, union busting money and the national Democratic leadership through Rahm giving Milwaukee Mayor Barrett the nod to jump into the primary to diffuse recall efforts and cohesiveness. Couldn’t let labor and other regular people score a big win against the 1% interests. That might have led to a movement spreading to other states.
(that’s my theory and I’m sticking to it)
Hi tejana, I am smelling that bread from here. Good afternoon.
Nice compliment from a baker. Recipe not Tassajara, but from a book of similar vintage. Never found one I like better, so I keep using it. ; )
(King Arthur Whole Wheat flour)
Yeah, I know, all that money explains Walker. And Rahm…I don’t really understand why he’s a Democrat. He’s responsible for a lot of the damage of the last decade or so, imho. Oh well, don’t wanna get started.
Actually, had best get started on some real world tasks. Bread is good, btw, but a touch dry. Have to think why. (just ’cause I’m outta practice?)
See y’all later, in epuland.
I think King Arthur may be a worker owned company. I like their products though don’t have time to search the link where I may have read that. The best.
It is worker-owned. Family-owned (Sands family) for a couple of centuries (really!) in Boston, then bought by workers and moved to Vermont late 20th century. (I got their email blog for years). I learned to bake bread from a recipe on the back of the 5 lb. bag of KA flour back in the ’70′s when I lived in Boston and there weren’t so many varieties of KA flour. It was pretty much the basic local flour, then; although old-fashioned. Unbleached white flour, mainly.
So have always had a soft spot for the company.
I’m a little disappointed that the catalogue now includes so many “improvers” and exotic ingredients, no longer just flour. But that’s being a purist, I’m sure, and the company is doing what it needs to do to survive, so for that, I’m glad.
Check out the blog sometime; they have photos of all the steps of making interesting baked goods along with the recipes, and answer questions from readers. I’ve wasted lots of time with it. ; )
Thanks, phone ringing here and a few things going on. More recipes, woohoo!
I’m not quite sure what that is supposed to mean. My career was in technology, and I didn’t realize I wasn’t sympathetic to others. Huh?
For Greenwarrior if anyone knows her e-address.
Austin Drink Liberally will be at Dog & Duck Pub, 6:45. That is located near old Scottish Rite Temple just off 19th and GUadalupe. Pretty sure it has its own parking…..
Good for you means good for you.
We all know about your background in IT.
I never said or implied that you have a lack of sympathy towards others.
What’s going on?
There must be something in the water around here…I’m baking bread today, too! Honey wheat with bulgur in it! House smells wonderful.
That implied that I didn’t have a positive attitude towards technology (when it was my career), or a sympathetic view on others, before my back surgery. It just confused me. Never mind, not important.
Back to chores. UGH. Working my way through the stuff that has to be done after visitors leave. Good thing it’s frigid and I have no desire to go anywhere. I think we’re all the way up to 14º now. But the sun is shining on the snow, so it’s very pretty out my windows!
You and demi are so tolerant and full of empathy. Many others too numerous to mention do the same which is why I love this place.
I suppose anyone still around will have seen Jane’s front page announcement re Scarecrow losing his fight with cancer.
Folks coming out of the “woodwork” to express their sadness. For all the sometime irritations around here, it is a remarkable community.
For sure…whoever would have thought when we joined up…..years ago now….that we would be making this journey with some of our PC friends.
Pretty amazing….Nice place to hangout.
