I was en-route to a political meeting with the smartest person I’ve ever met, and I was going on and on about “reality” as he drove.  I was speaking as though there was a central reality which enlightened people could see, that others were blind to.  When I stopped to take a breath, this is what he said.

“Lakota, there are many realities”

That’s all he said, as we rode in silence.  That one statement caused a thousand lights to pop on inside my brain.  There are as many realities as there are people; each person has his or her own personal reality, and no other reality supersedes that reality.

While the president of this country should make an attempt to be aware of all our realities, if he is a Democrat; he should be especially aware of working class, and poor people’s reality, that’s why he was elected.  If the collective “we” had been more concerned about the corporations, we would have elected a Republican.

If the president has his own personal “reality”, that can not be superseded by any other reality, then we are up “shit creek”.  It’s my perception that Barack Obama has done nothing but campaign since he got elected. I’ve never heard of him discussing matters privately with other elected officials, in an attempt to solve our problems.  It seems to me, that he leaves these decisions to people who he appointed, or were appointed by someone who we did not elect.

Case in point: 80,000 troops to Afghanistan, it’s “my perception”; that was based on the generals recommendations, and Fox TV’s allegations that he was weak on defense.  Would you have advised an additional 80,000 troops to Afghanistan?  I don’t even recall Barack Obama’s rationale for the additional troops.  Neither him nor the Republicans considered what that would do to the national debt, which they both are supposedly so concerned about; except when it comes to food stamps.  Giving poor people help will raise the national debt, but endless wars are good for the national debt.

In regard to defense, those 80,000 troops was a total waste; defense against the Taliban?  Defense against Al qaeda?  Defense against terrorism?  Defense against who and what?  You tell me.  Those 80,000 troops defended against the perception that Barack Obama was weak on defense, is my perception.

My perception of Barack Obama is that getting re-elected is his ultimate reality and that nothing else ever has, or ever will supersede that reality.  What is your perception of Barack Obama in terms of his reality.
