The super yacht business has boomed under the Obama Administration. There is no better indicator as to how we have been exploited by the super rich than this. Think GWB partnered with a neutered and cooperative left. That’s Obama and that makes him the extra-strength, stealth version of GWB. It also makes him the more dangerous of the two.
Not only has he institutionalized the worst of Bush, but he has also gone farther than Bush was able to go in most every area – the two-tiered system of justice, civil liberties, the social safety net, environmental regulations, duplicitous and murderous foreign policy, too big to fail, too big to jail, etc., you name it.
Now, beyond Bush, he has purposefully legitimatized and continues to give life to the current state of the “debate” over the debt limit, austerity, and the social safety net. Regardless of the ultimate outcome, he has made bargaining over Social Security and Medicare the new normal.
Don’t let the language of political theater fool you. Obama’s performance continues to be a thing of beauty to any honest and informed right-winger or neocon.

In recent news, Obama’s wording of leaving cannabis users alone does not mention dispensaries. If Obama’s first term means anything, we can see more raiding of dispensaries just as we have for the last decade, including under Bush.

A friend of mine who is even more cynical than me, thinks that Obama has some connection to the Escobar drug cartel. I have no way of knowing if that’s the truth. But the sad thing is, it wouldn’t surprise me.

I believe you used the term ‘left’ when you should have used the term liberal. Democrats and liberals, especially those who describe themselves as progressives, are not part of the left.
Many of these ‘progressives’ are former social democrats and Stalinist s who became Democrats as they moved right. They’re still moving right.
It was not so difficult to surmise early on that R Wing of the Money and Empire Uni-Party was aiming to serve as the useful foil as token opposition to M+E Uni-Party Barack Obama and D Wing remaining in the WH thru 2016. After all the R Wing sold us G.W.Bush in 2000 and 2004 using a wide array of devices to run the contest and numbers and “win” the WH.
Mitt Romney was as easy to sell as G.W.Bush ever was yet the R Wing of Uni-Party seemingly worked harder at goofing up and being slip shod with Romney’s 2012 WH bid. It is doubtful Jeb Bush would/will get treated this way by the R Wing machine should Jeb pick 2016 as His Time To Ascend To WH.
