Someone posted “Any criticism of Obama is considered racist.” That’s a favorite quote of the racists. We’re Progressives, and we’re all inclusive. Anything said in regard to race that can be misinterpreted is probably best left unsaid.

Obama serves the same corporate masters as other politicians. Where do we look for real progressive leadership?
Our focus has to be on class. I’ve observed a different African American on the scene who has no race, his color is money green, and he belongs to the political class. Race today is like a Salvador Dali painting with the melting clocks, it’s difficult to describe and almost impossible to pinpoint.
We are where we are because race was used to get people to vote against their own best interests. I saw a Michael Moore documentary where he described his idyllic childhood growing up in Flint. His family lived the American dream while his father worked in something related to car manufacturing, and he was trying to piece together “what happened to the American dream?” I could have told him.
Racists who were living the dream, didn’t want black people to live the same dream; they voted for someone who hated unions and blacks. This was the beginning of the end of the American dream. Strong unions demanded a piece of the pie that was the enormous profits corporations were making. They demanded wages in proportion to the corporations profits.
I wont mention the union buster’s name because it runs up my blood pressure, but he convinced the racists that their high wages was part of the problem. They caused manufacturers to leave this country. Once some Democrats began to go along with the madness, that was the end of the American dream.
When Mr. “hope and change” came along, we saw the perfect solution to the problem; African Americans have been victimized more than any other group in this country, no one better than an African American could be selected to fight for justice for the working class.
Barack Obama turned race into a Salvador Dali painting. Nothing is what it used to be, and it’s very difficult to describe; consequently it can’t be pinpointed and, anything you say about it can very easily be misinterpreted. Such is race today in America. As a progressive, I think it’s best left alone, and this is after jumping in those turbulent waters a few times myself.

“Our focus has to be on class.”
In this brief statement, you are correct.
But even as we must set aside the divisiveness of race and recognize our common interest as a class, we must also admit to ourselves that we have no advocacy in Washington.
If progressives continue to back the democratic party without question or consequence, religning along class lines will make no difference.
This is so very true. We can not continue to back the Democratic party or I should say the “Republicratic” party. I hope to read one of your diaries soon, that’s what keeps my spirit up.
Comrade la.ko.ta, there is mucho mas to be said about race and racism and Barak O’bummer’s exploit of sick Amerka.
Consider this projection:
Thank gawd those Palestinians aren’t too whipped to believe that shite.
If only B.O. were like Dali.
I’m glad you’re still in the land of the living, I haven’t heard from you in awhile.
While what you say is true, it’s also like being in a room with the funny mirrors that make you look fat, skinny with a big head; there are far too many distortions to have a real discussion.
I saw this movie where captain Kirk had a lip lock on drop dead beautiful woman. As it turned out, the woman was a “shapeshifter”, and in reality she was a big hairy monster. We only know what we see, we have no idea what’s under the skin. There are far too many “shapeshifters” in DC. Consequently any real discussion is impossible.
The politicians are robbing us blind any way they can, and the dog and pony shows are just that, and nothing more. If they really wanted to make things better, they would just pick up the FDR playbook and fix whatever is broke in various communities. That would create jobs in various communities. This “stimulous” crap just spreads billions of dollars around, and at the end of the day, “where did it go”? My post was intended to make us aware of the need to cast aside all and any unnecessary BS.
No longer is it about what they’re doing, we know what they’re doing; the question is, what are we going to do?
I hope you know when you’re getting f**ked by the hairy monster!
Converse in tongues?
I wish he used some lubrication, but that’s the way big hairy monsters are.
Brand Obama (whichever half) is an example of the way that the elites connect with the people… part of the whole propaganda thing.
Sadly, the powers-that-be are greedier than they are intelligent.
(If you see anything that looks sustainable, let me know.)
Even Twinkies, with a half-life of 36,000 years, have fallen by the wayside– the west can’t be long behind. Meanwhile, I plan on trying to stay “in the moment,” and enjoy myself as best I can… Good luck.
Enjoy yourself as best you can, for sure. The situation we’re confronted with is very complex, and not many people are qualified to deal with it. The people who are qualified, need to become unified and make a plan to deal with it.
The problem of having a bought-off government, along with a confused populace, appears insurmountable.
I’ve concluded years ago that we are destined for decline.
Meaningful change would be tumultuous, and I’m not prepared to fade the kind of heat that that level of activism would attract.
Most people are duped– I don’t relate politically to them– so who would I (or you) be fighting for? The banks and other multinational entities would be there to pick up the pieces with the help of corporate media.
This is incontrovertible.
A more liberal third party is the most that I hope for– and that’s unlikely, considering the massive (unconfused) grass-roots movement required.
I’ll leave the heavy head-banging to the more “qualified” activist.
I give priority to keeping my stress level down for health reasons.
You’ve made a wise decision. A third party is impossible at this time. A name is every thing, we must first have a “New Democratic Party”, and a “new” “new deal”, quite similar to FDR’s last new deal.
“All” progressive third party aspirants should evaluate this and look at their options. The oligarchy has transformed the “Democratic” party into the Republicratic Party, and there’s nothing we can do about that, but we could try to resurrect FDR and MLK all combined in one for a new movement under the banner of “The New Democratic Party”.
If all progressives evaluated this option they would realize it’s the only option in the amount of time we have. This is not the same country that old Democrats write posts about, and they don’t even know it. That’s why I included the time element which relates to your statement “of having a bought off government”. Working within the government is futile, creating a movement outside the government is still possible, but it wont be for long.
Nothing can be done without the populace behind it. A “movement” such as the one I described would work, if all progressives used whatever resources to unite behind it. Think about it, a movement that resurrected FDR and MLK under the banner of “The New Democratic Party”, with a desire for a “new, New Deal”, open to all who have the same desire.
Nice dream.
The only thing on my bucket-list is getting head under a coconut tree.
Or maybe a “New Progressive Alliance“??
That would be the reality of the movement, but I’m not sure about the name.
Yesterdays Democrats, are the same as today’s progressives, almost. If you exclude yesterdays racism, we would be the same. Now the Democratic Party has shifted to the right, and left the people behind. If the people were made aware of how much this party has shifted to the right, they would realize, they need another option, but they have been so conditioned to fear everything outside the Democratic and Republican parties. If we are the same as FDR’s Democratic Party, with the compassion of MLK; why shouldn’t we keep the name? They’re the ones who shouldn’t have the name Democrats.
The Republican party maintained a core constituency by feeding them a pound of racism. They were always guaranteed that with the Republican Party. Maybe racism doesn’t taste so good when you’re unemployed? Maybe they realize by now, that it’s totally obsolete. You can’t eat it, drink it, or smoke it; what good is it? Just a little food for thought.
Recommended.
(Happy Holidays Anthony. Are you in this part of the country?)
Yeah, I know them progressives, their somthing like “communists”, real oddballs.
“The New Democratic Party”, now there’s something people can get behind.
Like it or not, a name means a lot. People who do the same thing over and over get the same results. I don’t think a progressive platform would differ from one devised by FDR and MLK, or “The New Democratic Party”.
It’s time to think about how to get from here to there “seriously”.
Seriously, the Green Party offers the most hope.
But they don’t stand much of a chance due to the built-in obstructions that practically bar third parties from participating– and if they could afford to participate they’d be just as bought-off.
> Someone posted “Any criticism of Obama is considered

I believe that “someone” is known as Angry Black Racist, and she is a confirmed and disgraced “pragprog.”
Obstructions wouldn’t matter if “anyone” got the masses behind them, and there’s a better possibility of that than any time in history. Democrats are dissatisfied, Republicans who should never have been Republican in the first place are dissatisfied.
While progressives are what this country needs more than ever, their packaging is wrong; I even heard they were heterosexual.
It’s time for “all” progressives to unite.
That has been a favorite quote of racists from the beginning. People who aren’t racists simply make their statement and move on. No one here has been more critical of Barack Obama than me. He talks like Kunta Kinte, while moving like Dick Cheney, and he has sold snowballs to the Eskimos.
That quote “Any criticism of Obama is racist” takes things in an unintended direction if the person is not racist. I realize it’s very complex, but that’s the nature of race today.
