Sibel Edmonds is making life complicated for DOJ, and we should THANK her for that! Her deposition today on a number of issues should begin pressure on Holder and DOJ to actually investigate and prosecute a number of cases going forward, and revisiting some issues going back. I’m lovin the prospect!
And THAT hattip came from our bloggy buddy at Busted Knuckles Place.
And here’s Background From Last Tuesday On It All.
While the Plame/Jennings info will be intriguing, it’s the Turkish Government buyout of a congresscrit or two that will REALLY begin to blow up the DOJ and Holder.
Cuz THAT is foreign intervention, bribing public officials, etc. And THAT will link to AIPAC and Franklin et al being CLOSELY revisited and MAYBE this time being REALLY prosecuted.
Lotta pressure gonna be put on Holder and DOJ from Sibel’s testimony getting out to the public. That pressure should help ensure there won’t be whitewashes to make it all go away.
Not to mention, this CLAMORS for a RELOOK at all the shit Buch/Cheney did, including the run up to the Iraq Invasion.
Per Busted’s request, please share this new info on Sibel’s testimony at every blog you know of, because as HE puts it, the MSM is NOT gonna cover this one.
But the progressive blogosphere can surely blow it up. :D
As Busted suggests at his place, wait till Marcy Wheeler gets a load of THIS shit!! WOOT! *G*

I just finished reading the story over at BradBlog.
If nothing is done about any of these allegations by Obama’s Justice Department we might as well pack it in trying, or rather, expecting anything of any substance as far as reestablishing the rule of law in this country goes.
Edmonds’ info has been known for years and the ridiculous application of the state secrets act to remove her accusations did nothing to kill interest in what she exposed. Unfortunately the bought and paid for media in this country refuses to cover anything unless they’re told to do it by their masters or unless it has to do with some off the wall accusation thrown out by a right wing Christian fundamentalist nut job aimed at discrediting the president or some Democrat. God forbid any Republican is accused of treasonous activities. It’s OK to screw your friend’s wife while employing his son and then paying them all off to be quiet but heaven forbid the flag should be sullied by a fucking traitor in the ranks of the GOP. Mustn’t even whisper about that.
Let’s see what happens with this but I’m not expecting much.
Thanks for the reply James, all we can do is spread this info to every blog and clicky pal we have. Make it go viral. Hope the youtube vids come out and THEY go viral, send it all to every TV/Radio/Print medium possible.
One of the most curious bits in that BradBlog.com story is that she revealed it was Marc Grossman who (in the State Dept. with a megaphone) revealed that Brewster-Jennings was a CIA front co. to someone he shouldn’ta. We have all been thinking it was Armitage, Fleischer, Rove and Libby who revealed Plame’s work.
This revelation doesn’t necessarily negate what we’ve thought. But, it adds material to the story.
Hold the screenplay… Rewrite!
Check out EW’s Ghorbanifar Timeline. Grossman’s been in the periphery of this mess for a long time.
hey larue. thanks for the news. after all these years, sibel, alive and well (which i’ve been really worried about) finally gets to speak!!! yippee!!
GW, yes, it’s a delight to see Sibel get her day, finally. That she’s still alive is a miracle.
This should help her a lot, safety wise, as there’s vids, so offing her now is pointless.
What’s NOT pointless is what happens to this info, from here on out?
Whitewashed? Or, pursued and acted upon?
The Dem Woman Rep with the lesbian tyrst set up is but ONE example of how our government has been corrupted in one manner or another. True or not, needless to say, that Rep’s career is over. Who KNOW what will happen her family unit.
What I most look forward to is how the seemingly disparate pieces might actually ALL fall together. Turkey working WITH Israel/AIPAC for instance. And how all THAT was part of the gin up to invade Iraq. FISA, warrentless wiretapping, missing weapons and pallets of money . . . and Boosh/Cheney at the apex of it all with PNAC.
I’m hopin Mz. Wheeler takes some of these issues and runs with them . . . *G*

Your post read as if you actually knew what you were talking about! Your post turns my stomach for SO many reasons but the most obvious is the fact that it WAS and still IS bullshit. I don’t know where you were getting your information, I would really like to know one thing. Why would you write such things about people? Your fellow Americans? Do you have ANY idea what we went through or are STILL going through here? “Thousands dead, Tens of Thousands Dead, body parts washed up on shore after the sharks feed on them, washing up on the shores of Corpus Christi for a year”… ALL bullshit! Not to even mention the ‘hunkered down’ quote… my brother was trapped and almost drowned… he was trying to help others get out and was trapped himself. He watched people die, drown, watched our horses drown, watched hundreds of animals drown, witnessed homes being torn apart. People are NOT recyclable, I don’t care what “history” you were referring to.. it’s a horrible thing to say. Are you serious? The dead have NOT been recycled, Our community was NOT re-zoned or replaced with casinos, We ARE rebuilding our lives as well as our communities. Hey Larue- oh, I was following this avidly at BradBlog from the get go.
And, refreshing and refreshing.
And, I think the names put forth as to possibles in comments are wrong. I came to a different name, which I could not eliminate, but I didn’t want to put that name in my comment, because there had already been enough speculation about the name, and I didn’t want to continue to pile on, by adding to speculation about the name. I did leave a comment at BB tho.
And, the back and forth between uh, JC and LA in the comments on that are just plain ugly. And, in other comments, some weird comments re: PatFitz and related that indicated that the commenters had not been reading EW assiduously. And, yes, I thought, hmmm. EW… please look.
VG,
To my knowledge, EW has never written about Edmonds. I’ve been watching for her to do so for over two years. EW also once had the warm fuzzies about Richard Armitage, who is as dirty as they come.
Although it might not be the case here, as credible as Edmonds seems to me, some people as knowledgeable as EW seem to not trust Edmonds, or have been warned away from writing about her.
Looking for Larue…

I’m not sure what your saying I wrote, I certainly don’t recall comments from that far back.
I’m confused, that’s for sure, by your comments, and what you attribute to me having said.
And the link you post for Relaxed Politics is not found.
But if I have offended you in any manner, I’m sorry.
Sheri is some wingnut denier…ignore.
Thanks for posting a new diary on the Sibel depo…I did one over the weekend, and got some strange responses, as well. Good luck, and you might want to check out Madsen for updates, too.
Thanks, Styve . . . what’s Madsen?
Ah, found your dairy, am reading it all now. I would have referenced you had I seen it, sorry about that! And thanks for posting what you did.
Here’s Styve’s diary, and The Madsen Report info
Again, thanks Styve.
Look, you have to pay attention to the comments on this at BB.
Part of what Madsen report says is just plain cribbed from the info available at BB and in the comments. And, if you trust BB as accurate reporting (which I do) that part is okay. But, I’ve been reading BB on and off for a long time, and also know that Madsen gets it right maybe 50% of the time when he starts to add the sensational element.
But as for the speculation re: Schakowsky, based on the Madsen info, this is just b.s. As are a lot of the other speculations on the thread as to the identify of this person. Read the comments at the BB thread. And, none of them are particularly convincing. But, mud-slinging egos are totally in evidence.
The main points really are the info and the details that were stated in the deposition. Why get hung up on trying to figure out this sensational bit of the puzzle? Unless the main point is sensationalist to the max.
Really what SE actually said, and the people actually named ought to be the focus right now.
Correction (my edit time ran out)- what I meant by “50 % of the time” was not to say that he has this good a record, rather that 50% = random getting it right.
My initial source, as I explain above, was Busted at his place, who quotes Brad Blog, which I read in its entirety. Which I’ve followed for a long long time regarding election issues and voting equipment.
I know NOTHING about Madsen, and first heard of him tonight. I don’t endorse him, I don’t criticize him. I don’t know him.
I’m greatly confident in what Brad Freidman shares, he’s solid.
As to the rep blackmailed, and being female, and a dem, that’s confirmed at Brad Blog.
Jan S fits the profile of being AIPAC friendly, and having switched her position on the Armenian Genocide legislation.
Is it proven fact yet it’s Jan S? No. Is it reasonable to think she might be the one Sibel speaks of? Oh yeah.
And that reps behavior and linkages to groups like AIPAC who have had ‘issues’ with state secrets and bribing elected officials, is certainly a HUGE part of all of this.
I think we’ll see there’s a HUGE connected loop of foreign interference to impact our policy making decisions, both those domestic and abroad. This is about the corrupted nature of our county, our elected officials, and our process of government. That’s pretty huge. It’s all fair game to put pieces together and speculate.
I have NO doubt the TRUTH will emerge, and I’ve been a big fan of the truth. If I come off seeming like I’m chasing fairytales and spreading rumors, then I have really, really written poorly.
Thanks for your comment.
Hey Larue…
Why can’t one access my thread through the link you put up? Is it pulled down after 3 days? Just curious…
Thanks…
Styve, your diary was removed from the site today after we received a complaint that some of it, material that was reported by Wayne Madsen, was unsubstantiated rumor. Not being able to verify the rumor, given that Madsen relied entirely on unnamed sources, the decision was made by the editors to remove the diary.
For future reference, we have no problem with the subject matter, but we do draw the line at unsubstantiated rumor.
Thanks Jason…I forwarded to Wayne Madsen.
Plame’s outing was a ”hit job” and a team thug effort.
How allegedly Feith, Perle, Woolsey etc were involved with sales of weapons systems or weapons to unsavory characters is going to get very interesting
There’s a lot of lost weapons and pallets of money out there from back then, and now, isn’t there . . *G*
Some of this stuff I don’t think you could make up unless you were a fan of Milo from Catch-22.
There’s an Iran-Contra in all of this that likely is much, much bigger and involves the Af’Pak Herion and their distribution routes . . . not to MENTION the oil and gas routes that have been bandied about since the Taliban told Halliburton/Cheney to piss off in ‘98 (leading to our attack on Afghan, which was NOT in response to 911 IMHO).
this recent interview with Plame is worth the listening
http://americanam.podomatic.co…..5_52-08_00
The Pentagon brass and ranking officers and alumni at Langley aren’t Boy Scouts, and most of them went along with the games convened by Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Stephen Hadley. There were some resignations, and a few — such as Ambassador Wilson — even came forward publicly to oppose the misuse of intelligence, and they were dealt with accordingly.
The remainder of the neocon Plan – The Clean Break http://www.iasps.org/strat1.htm – that called for regime change in Iraq, then Lebanon, followed by Syria and finally, Iran, was put on the shelf, as were some of those most directly involved in the falsification of Iraq and Iran WMD intelligence.
That resulted in four related counter-intelligence investigations:
* the Iraq Survey Group (established the Iraq WMD fraud, May 2003);
* the CIA’s post-Plame outing damage assessment (circulated September 2003);
* the FBI’s OSP-AIPAC-Mossad probe of efforts to plant disinformation about Iran WMDs in Pentagon files (Franklin was charged July 2004 but had been cooperating for quite a while in a sting operation);
* and, finally, the Fitzgerald Grand Jury and trial of Scooter Libby, special assistant to both the President and Vice President, and Dick Cheney’s Chief of Staff.
Each of these investigations revealed that elements of Israeli and Saudi intel allied with the American neocons had engaged in a massive, coordinated deception and espionage campaign to push the United States into a series of aggressive wars regardless of the costs and damage that this would have to American global interests.~~~leveymg

Last Friday I posted a politico excerpt about Jan Schakowsky on a thread here entitled “Rahm Goes Apeshit”.
That was the day BEFORE Edmond’s depo.
Here is that article:Sun Jul-12-09 07:39 PM

Jan Schakowsky: Dick Cheney’s program validates Nancy Pelosi

Jan Schakowsky: Dick Cheney’s program validates Nancy Pelosi
By ALEX ISENSTADT | 7/12/09 5:09 PM EDT
Asked if Panetta’s charge offered validation to the speaker’s complaint of being misled by the agency, Schakowsky responded: “Absolutely.”
Schakowsky, who chairs the House Intelligence Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, said that it only reinforced the need for the launch of formal investigation into the CIA’s practices.
“What it does is really propel a prompt investigation,” Schakowsky said. “An explicit decision was made at the highest levels not to report this program.”___________________________________________________
Now this statement from Schakowsky was made in July, originally.
I just can’t connect the dots that the female politician would be Ms.Schakowsky.
Time will tell.
I’m curious in that I don’t think I understand the relationship with Rep Jan S, Leon Panetta, Speaker Pelosi, and CIA business and how that discounts Jan S as being the Rep named in Edmond’s testimony? Where’s the Turkish connection? That’s the predominant issue at hand, that a rep was blackmailed and maybe bribed by Turkish government influences. That’s the KEY, in terms of that portion of Edmond’s testimony regarding the rep.
Can you spell that out for me? Thanks . . .
And, yes, now that you mention it, Harman too has the ties to groups like AIPAC, WELL ESTABLISHED TIES (although I don’t know of any Turk related groups alleged to have DONE the set up and blackmail) that MIGHT point to her being the Rep in question.
But like I said, is there any linkage from Harman and Armenian Genocide legislative flipflops, is there ANY linkage at all to ATC, and the other Turkish groups Edmond’s has mentioned for so long?
Just askin . . . I don’t claim to know it all, by any means . . . thanks for your thoughts on this . . .
Your Harman posit is interesting . . . can we move it to find Turkish connections?

No, I don’t reject that it could be Schakowski.
However, my initial reaction is that if I had skeletons rattling in my closet, I wouldn’t be publicly stating that a formal investigation should be convened to review CIA practices….especially if I were Chair of the Oversight committee. You KNOW what they say about being careful what you ask for.
Now I read that there is an enormous Armenian constituency, and that she (Schakowski)had recently joined a committee representing their interests. If I can find the link ,I will post it for you.
“Now I read that there is an enormous Armenian constituency, and that she (Schakowski)had recently joined a committee representing their interests. If I can find the link ,I will post it for you.”
The Armenian group info is in Brad Blog’s page, which I link to in my original post.
The name and acronyms of the groups the rep in question is affialiated are spelled out clearly.
Find Jan’s name attached with attribution to any of them, and more linkage pointing to her as the rep in question.
Frankly, I’d be delighted to see Harmon and Schakowski BOTH disappeared from Congress. DiFi too, but she’s kept clean enough underground to avoid being unsettled. Evil, but smart, DiFi.
How can these people BE so stupid as to ILLEGALLY represent foreign interests here at home while SERVING THEIR OWN COUNTRY!!!!!!!!
Here’s an interesting snippet from a Huff Po article.
Makes you wonder about priorities.
Posted: July 25, 2006 Maliki’s Testy Visit: Is This What Our Troops Are Dying For?
Democrats are demanding that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki not be allowed to address a joint session of Congress on Wednesday unless he apologizes for condemning “Israeli aggression” in Lebanon.
In a letter being circulated among their colleagues, party leaders including Rahm Emanuel and Jan Schakowsky say, “We are unaware of any prior instance where a world leader who actively worked against the interests of the United States was afforded such an honor.”

Excuse me, the US did not committ acts of aggression toward Lebanon. Are the interests of the US and Isreal so closely aligned that the country’s names are interchangeable?

I think you answered your own question.
Git, got internet prollies, so to yer #33:
Oh. I thought ya had something new that hadn’t been covered.
Looks like were on same pages for the most part, so again, thanks for your comments and replies.
Man, where will this one go . . . . either way, up or down, it’s a shit disturber if we want it to be. *G*
Just for informational purposes,Wikipedia has a truly informative entry for the history of Israeli-Turkish relations.(NOT related to the Edmonds depo.)
It provides excellent background on the historical and contemporary interests of these two countries, and sheds light on their interdepence-in MANY areas.
They have been closely aligned for quite a while now,but VERY recently Turkey has been openly critical of Israel’s aggression in Palestine.
Recommend the Wiki entry highly.
Type in Turkey and Israeli Relationship.
Lazy putz, hoss, post the linky!!! *G*
I’ll look at that. thanks. ;-)
Circle Games, Oh Them Circle Games . . . (Joni, her badass self hat tip to Tom Paxton, no linky, go youtube it yerself). *G*
Ok, lemme say, by shit disturber, I mean it’s a prog tool to flay the bad guys with.
Not a reason to stir shit up, indiscriminately. Anarchist wise. It ain’t me, as Credence Once Crooned.
I’m all for protests, for a purpose, not for the anarchy. Never. I just won’t adopt that tactic.
Bodies in the streets? Millions to protest? Labor Strikes? Sure.
But not for anarchy. For a cause, and a purpose. For the masses.
Not for anarchy. Never. They said we were anarchists in the 60’s and 70’s, we weren’t.
Some were. Likely, like now, paid by the corporate feudalists and bussed in.
Some, just too enthralled with their lot in life.
We were NOT anarchists. (even if some said we were)
The words, sometimes the words . . . *sigh*
Teh Wiki Of Note
Arms trades? But Israel gets all its arms from us, they don’t MAKE arms (whoops, they use AK’s AND Uzi’s, dont they?)
WE make their nukes, their weapons, their aircraft, and more.
Turkey? I don’t think they make their own stuff, much. I don’t know, I’m not an expert of weapons of the world.
Is Israel sending out OUR weapons we send to them, to Turkey? Behind the scenes?
What fuckery could THAT bring?
Course, given the missing weapons, and pallets of trillions of dollars USA, in Iraq alone, who KNOWS how big the latest Iran/Contra Scam is.
Cuz, as I’ve said, Mylo Minderbender, is open for business, and always has been.
And with that cryptic old cliche, I’m outta here for tonite.
*waves* Thanks, Git, for all you’ve offered . . .
Time will tell. I think it’s gonna be fuggin ugly.
Go Sibel, ya dear, and thanks.

FDL had a phreaking stellar day today with Jane’s post and the comments about Froomkin’s New Gig and of course, MY fav of today, Bernie Sanders’ stuff:
Hmmm, Huffo’s Pulled It?
Here’s what I had to say about Bernie’s Post @ RF: (blogwhoring but FDL Centric!)
********Begin Blog Whorin**********
Two pretty kewl things today.
From FDL, this post with comment from Bonkers @ 14. .
Wherin Bonk leads us to Dan Froomkin’s Newest. A NICE piece from Dan!
But that’s NOT my fav today. My fav today is one of those things a com studies/journ/pr guy like me just jumps all over, and dances with glee on SO many fronts.
Why?
Because in the same post, Bluetoe@ 21 ALSO linky’s to HuffPo, and Bernie Sanders.
As Bernie Posits: “It is in this new media ecosystem that we wage our national debates over critical issues like health care reform, global warming, the war in Afghanistan and the collapse of the American middle-class. In this complex and exciting landscape, democratic debate isn’t just a two-way street, it’s five intersecting eight lane highways.”
This is like eye and ear candy. Marshall Mcluhan is smiling, it’s this good.
And it’s inspiring as all hell to read Bernie’s thoughts on this new structure of mass com.
It’s the end of the old ways, the dinosaur’s meteor is HERE, and they are melting slowly, them corporate feudalists who have bought our electeds, bought dereg ownership legislation, eliminated unions, and more.
The new ways are here. It’s an eight lane superhighway in both directions!
For any com, journ, pr or graphic artist who had to learn theory of com, at any level, this is the new revolution.
Hope. For the long run.
All we gotta do is protect net neutrality!
What oratory from Mr. Sanders. It moves me in a way I haven’t been moved in a long, long time.
Here’s Bernie’s Site
Bless that man. :ohmaster:
Now, back to yer regular toobzing . . :D

What The Phook?!
I originally linked to the Brad Blog for the huge scoop about the Sibel Edmonds story about her testimony that she was unable to talk about due to being under a Gag Order from Bushco.
That’s it.
If ya have ever heard of me, ya know damn good and well that as far as I am concerned, there was a butt load of treason commited by several members of the Bush Administration and I stand by that to this day. Obviously. Marcy has forgotten more about this than I will ever remember, even though I spent quite a bit of time here trying to follow this.
