The year is fraught with all the political lies, diatribes, scribes and wanna be’s.
Mittens has gone south faster and earlier than Grant thru Richmond (ok, that was at the end of the war, I was lookin for rhyme and metaphors gimme a break).
Obama lays back, gathering cred where no cred is due, waiting for his second anointment to further destroy any and every vestige of FDR/LBJ programs that were good for the masses.
And of course, he will also give way to the MIC and wage war, in his second term. War that will make the 60′s look like the 50′s made the FIRST WW look like, well, you get my point I hope. War sucks, only the rich profit, the people always lose.
And nothing, NOTHING, gets to me in these times like a little Levon Helm, The Band, and this tune. RIP Levon, you and so many this year, are SOOOO missed by us all.
Bonus, for you pickers n sangers out there:
Capo on 2nd Fret (below are just chord shapes), actual chords are:
(F#m=(Em), A=(G), D=(C), E=(D), E7=(D7), Bm=(Am))
Em G C G
Well, they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night
Em G C G
And they blew up his house, too.
Em G C G
Down on the boardwalk they’re ready for a fight
Em G C G
Gonna see what them racket boys can do.
Em G C G
Now there’s trouble busin’ in from outta state
Em G C G
And the D.A. can’t get no relief.
Em G C G
Gonna be a rumble on the promenade
Em G D
And the gamblin’ commissioner’s hangin’ on by the skin of his teeth.
Em G C G
Everything dies, baby that’s a fact
Em G C G
But maybe everything that dies some day comes back.
Em G C G
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
Em G C G
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City.
Well, I got a job and I put my money away
But I got the kind of debts that no honest man can pay.
So I drew out what I had from the Central Trust
And I bought us two tickets on that Coast City bus.
CHOROUS
Am C
Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold
D Em
But with you forever I’ll stay.
Am C
We’ll be goin’ out where the sands turn to gold
D D7
But put your stockings on ’cause it might get cold.
CHOROUS
Now I’ve been a-lookin’ for a job, but it’s hard to find
There’s winners and there’s losers
And I am South of the line.
Well, I’m tired of gettin’ caught out on the losin’ end
But I talked to a man last night,
Gonna do a little favor for him.
Well, everything dies, baby that’s a fact
But maybe everything that dies some day comes back.
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City.
Oh, meet me tonight in Atlantic City,
Oh, meet me tonight in Atlantic City.

He never had a chance, he was a plant.
So that Obama could win.

*G*
Till then, we just shut up n pick, no?
;-)
Excellent Diary, and I Do Recommend!
Now, I don’t “pick” and I don’t “sing” worth a lick, but I do enjoy, and as such, I do enjoy your ever-present Banjo Strut.
And give us “more Hell! Hoss.

Thanks and thanks for all YOU do.
The music in my ears, fingers and my dobro and dulcimer keep me sane. So does the social interaction of pickin n sangin with others.
Workin on said intents is also at times, quite fulfilliing.
The rest of this mess, well, I just can’t endorse nor speak to anymore.
Like Warren Zevon once penned:
“My Shit’s Fucked Up.”
;-)
Thanks, Larue.
Rough day. Wonderful way to end it. A real delight.

Glad I could help and yer quite welcome!
Love Levon and that quintessential American voice of his.
I understand that Mitt “Ignorant bullies are people, too, my friend!” Romney is perplexed because he keeps hearing a fat lady singing every time he makes a campaign appearance of late.
Keep on picking & singing, Larue!
Thanks LC, recommended, and much appreciated.
Levon is one of my favorites.
My shit’s fucked up, too. ;o)
