I have read many times the claim that 200,000 registered democrats in Florida voted for George W. Bush in 2000. I happen to believe that claim, but I doubt most rank-and-file liberal democrats would believe it on face value, especially considering that a google of this turns up either Green Party websites (which arguably have a vested interest in making such a claim), blogs (which by themselves aren’t valuable without credible citations), or broken websites.
There is a great fear among most liberal Americans. The fear is what compels them to vote for vote time and again for registered democrats who are in favor of indefinite detention, cutting social safety nets, and granting clemancy to the criminal acts of the banks. The propaganda fueled by fear can only be fought with data from acceptable, mainstream sources that only the most blindly loyal democrat will deny.

You might go to “www.bradblog.com” and ask Brad Friedman. He may know who to ask.
I used to have a couple of names of people who looked at the Florida vote situation from a statisticians’s viewpoint. But I don’t know where those names are in my many banker boxes of research.
Also there are several movies out there about voting. But the ones I am thinking of all focus on 2004, and the Bush/Kerry election. You might try googling “documentaries” + 2000 election.
I believe you are recalling a “myth” about that election fiasco.
There was a so-called “glitch” in the counting in 4 counties that ‘gave’ those votes which had been cast for Al Gore to GW Bush. It was on the basis of those votes, that Fox News called the election in Florida for Bush, and thus proclaimed him President. The other news lemmings soon followed suit.
After about 45 minutes the “glitch” was resolved, and these votes were flipped back to Gore (where they belonged), with the results being what happened after that. That 200,000 Dem vote for Bush was only a temporary thing and definitely not real – so don’t go looking for it. It never really existed.
