I can’t eat cheese or have ice cream, I’m severely lactose intolerant. Does that make me a anti-cow bigot? Some might say yes. I like hamburger, I love steak, but I don’t care for what comes from the utters. Maybe that’s my biggest failing…

Oh, this is a Diary? Hee. Well…

I currently live in central Florida, near the West Coast. My views on the current political climate prohibit my voting in this year’s election. I don’t believe in the candidates I do know about and don’t know enough about the rest of the candidates to make an informed decision. The national race to the White House has already been decided, and not by the popular vote. Obama will win a second term, but that does not mean he is a good president.

It is my sincere hope that a true Liberal with a strong progressive leaning will one day become president, again. Since the major losses of the Liberal movement at the end of the seventies, the people with common sense and decency have become scare. The rise of the so-called middle-of-the-road candidates has actually been a severe shift to the right. Causes that should have bi-partisan support are now seen as criminal by both parties. Bi-partisanship is a joke when both parties are actually on the same side, and that’s not on the side of the rest of America.

Knowing that something like the Occupy Movement can not only exist, but flourish gives me hope for the future. Even though our government is using the same means that got our enemies executed almost seventy years ago, I still believe we have a chance of making things right. We were once great, not in the American Exceptionalism ideal, but in that we stood up and made a change for the better. It has been a long time since we made a grand stride in the direction of progress. My hope is that it is only a matter of time until we do so again.

This is my first diary entry for FDL. I hope it to be the first of many, and that it give me better insight into myself and humanity. We could all use a little learning and understanding.
