Check this un-bleeped footage of McCain today!!
Keith Olbermann alluded to it, but they had to bleep it. Here it is…unbleeped.
I told you Cindy was ticked off about something…bloated face this morning and sunglasses during the rally this afternoon.
Trouble in River City….Ruh, Roh..

I was going to add a diary entry about the general topic of PTDS in connection with this latest example of tourettes syndrome.
Haven’t watch the video as I have dial-up and lack the patience to download the data. But I gather from others that he was talking about his POW experiences again. Sort of like “my fellow prisoners.” This person has some serious unresolved issues that require the intervention of a therapist.
Some of the material I was going to draw from included:
Is John McCain Still Trapped in Vietnam?
John McCain’s suicide attempt and his resulting PTSD
John McCain Has a Bizarre History of Hiding Evidence About His Fellow POWs
Republicans Allege McCain Covered Up His Collaboration with the North Vietnamese While a POW
The guy is full of deep dark secrets, so it seems.
I still don’t know why he’s is the party’s nominee if it’s not because there is just no one out there, apart from McCain, willing at this time to follow such a career-ending path.
All due respect, this POW conduct stuff seems out of bounds.
Unless you were a prisoner of war, I can’t imagine any examination of this is relevant. And even then, who’s to say what is ‘permissible’ under those terrible circumstances?
I’m not understanding your point. What is out of bounds?
This:
Pretty judgmental for us to go there, assuming you didn’t – I didn’t, and I am very wary of venturing into territory where we examine what someone, anyone, does under those indescribable circumstances.
That’s a whole story unto itself that’s only part of the picture I see of PTDS. When I was reading about his rather extreme hostility to families of MIA/POWs I was trying to think of something he must be trying to hide. I searched the question and one of the items was the video and description at that link. It was a resource that I was considering for my diary entry. I wasn’t really properly motivated to pursue any of this and this thread provides the excuse to leave it be. McCain’s just a damned fool, after all.
I have read some of this stuff, too. Even some of the most believable stuff is tinged with resentment and envy.
Not saying PTSD doesn’t have a play here. But I’m told that open discussions of this are extremely rare and devastating to those who were there. So I detest John McCain the politician, Senator, husband, etc.
But I’m not prepared to let anyone say that his experience under the ‘care’ of the North Vietnamese is comparable to anything I can imagine or interpret.
The PTSD angle may be rare in discussions here, but it’s certainly been remarked upon elsewhere. When I posted an item here on McCain’s physical health recently, the absence of anything about his mental health was tantamount to a glaring omission.
Yeah, I have been exposed to some of the really ugly stuff aimed at survivors of Nam by families and money-grubbing M-F’ers. I believe almost none of it due to the wide variety of conjecture about it.
As far as PTSD goes, I think it’s relevant. As far detention and collaboration goes, not plausible IMO.
Yeah, it’s just my deal. I tried to put myself in those shoes – no way possible.
One wonders if the Coot would walk a mile or confess to War Crimes for a Camel…seems like he was smoking a cigarette in that B & W P-O-W footage…
Did anyone hear Keith Olbermann mention that he, himself, did this 24(I think it was) years ago? He said his words got jumbled in his rush to say them fast; I believe him. I think we’ve all accidentally said things we never intended, something like a verbal typo. So while this incident is kind of amusing, and this particular candidate seems to stumble over his words a lot, and I would like to be critical, I don’t see this as much of anything but an amusing anecdote. Even Keith said he has some empathy for this slip of the tongue. There’s lots more things to demonstrate McSame’s toxic nature, like the out and out lies he tells in his quest for power. Or we could condemn his attempts to make people believe that Obama called Sara Palin a pig (because of course Sarah owned the word “lipstick” after she first uttered it) when he referred to their campaign trying to put lipstick on a pig. Or we can criticize the fact that his choice of a running mate cannot be trusted to do interviews with the press without a keeper in tow. This incident is small potatoes comparatively, imo.
As always, KO was gracious in noting his own mistake years ago. Maybe it was a verbal type. But from the look on Cindy’s face, it seemed to concern her more than that.
Not that I’ve thought this through at length, but at the moment it seems to me that anyone who wants to have his finger on the nuclear end-it-all button must permit his mental state and past conduct to be examined exhaustively. For the sake of the world.
