I am starting to fight myself. The rhetoric sounded good, but I am getting very cynical about our Democratic party. The ONLY thing that they do better than the Republicans is talk about the issues important to me in a way that I understand. Neither party gives a shit about the average American until it comes to getting votes. If they truly represented our best interests they would NOT be concerned about getting re-elected, just about getting the job done, and doing the right thing for their country and its inhabitants, us.
I have written letters, emails, talked to groups of people, given precious money, and pounded the pavement for Obama. I am tired of the glowing rhetoric, the innuendo, and the ridiculously pathetic caving in to special interest groups, of which the far right is one. If there are Congressional Democrats that are not willing to support Democratic interests with their job, THROW THEM OUT. We do not need their jaundiced brand of politics. Not now, not ever.
At this time, I do not think I am the only one feeling really disillusioned with the current government. I have no health insurance, my home has decreased in value from $250K to $41K right now with a 125K mortgage, and I don’t have enough money to pay my bills. The thought that there are millions of other Americans like me is absolutely appalling, considering that there are many who have received bailouts and are now making millions again. I have received no such bailout, for me or my small business. I would venture that the VAST majority of people like me haven’t either. Congress seems to think that the only class of people that is important is the investor class. I hate to clue them, if it wasn’t for the bottom 90%, there would BE nothing to invest in. And they act special. Please…
If there is one person without healthcare out there, that is one too many. It is time for Congress to get off their ass and stop playing games with people’s lives. This is not a football game, this is our future. A future that will only be sustainable if we are as concerned for the meekest and weakest as we are for the strongest and most influential.

“If they truly represented our best interests they would NOT be concerned about getting re-elected, just about getting the job done, and doing the right thing for their country and its inhabitants, us.” —–Yup.
I hear you, mapsguy1955. Good diary, thank you.
Hear you and my husband’s business is at the same place. If the Democrats don’t look after Americans in this health care debate and only concerns themselves with protecting the big health insurance companies, they will not get my vote nor my husband’s. I probably won’t vote for the Republican candidate, but it was just that mindset on the Republican side that cost McCain the presidency.
Well as we have seen in the healthcare debate that is not going to happen.
Bless you, mapsguy1955, so sorry you’re contending with your realities and that our democratic system doesn’t care as it needs to do. May there be resolutions for all our insane realities.
O.K.so we know that Congress has been bought by Medical Industry. And banking too…. So when they get voted out , they just go to those big, cushy jobs with big business…laughing all the way to their bank.
How do we make this happen ? I dont know. I havent a clue. But I think its time for us to stop being Pollyannas. Get real and admit we are being sold out. Then figure out what to do about it. Its guerrilla tactics time. How do you make hospitals take you in with no insurance or money to cover yourself and not have your home and car and children repossessed ?
Its time to get politically creative. En Masse.
maps, loved your title, relate so much. The Dems and Progressives, the wave of people who mandated Obama, must step out of denial and fight! Thanks.
