Rarity in American politics: Jon Stewart calls Keith Olbermann on going over the top, personalizing his politics:
To Olbermann’s credit, he does apologize to Jon Stewart after Stewart’s masterful comedic send up of Olbermann.
So often male politicians believe their manhood is reflected in their politics and will not back down no matter what, will run the project into the ground rather than "lose face."
Obama is on health care where Olbermann was with the over the top, ad hominem reportage that had grown tiresome. A little over the top, devaluing his own currency daily, previously unable to yield to the obvious–nobody likes this anymore. One was able to admit it, course correct and hopefully move forward better informed.
The other seems driven to run the entire operation off of a cliff.

That was well done.
Has a sitting president ever apologized for anything? And can you imagine what the right wing pundits would say if Obama did apologize? They freaked out and said he looked weak when he bowed to the Japanese emperor.
So apologizing would be a bad idea. But he should do the other thing Olberman did. Understand that he needs to change course before his stock plmmets even more.
What would Massachusetts voters have said had Obama apologized?
They would have said “Senator elect Coakley.”
When you’re wedged in such that the only ways out make matters worse, apologizing is all you have left.
In case you haven’t noticed, it was not the “right wing” that elected Brown, rather demoralized progressives and liberals who stayed home and some who voted for Brown in protest of Democrat entitlement.
This “four legs, good, two legs bad” notion that all bad comes from the right wing and the GOP and all good comes from the Democrat Party is a prescription for driving us all over a cliff on health care and politically.
You have been warned, the Clinton effect was too narrow in definition, the true concept is the DLC effect, where the drive to power is achieved by sacrificing progressive and liberal values for moderate values instead of expanding progressive and liberal values to include the center.
Kieth was getting a bit shrill for my taste, but he at least kept his facts straight. The Right is shrill and loose with facts. Ouch. Keep at it Kieth and remember poise is always the thing to embrace.
Not this one. This one would say “prove it”. Even if Obama proved it, in my opinion, is not a good reason to choose Coakley. She’s a flawed candidate and I wouldn’t give her my vote now and put her in that office for life.
That said, good for Keith Olbermann.
Why is the truth visible through Jon Stewart’s eyes only?
The Jon Stewart bit was hilarious, well done & well said. Olbermann’s response was great. Kudos to both.
It doesn’t matter what BHO does, insofar as the trad/med & the rightwingers are concerned. They will shriek and snort and diss him anyway.
I think BHO owes us all huge heartfelt apology coupled with a real change of course. IF BHO did that, he would get a lot of back on his side, including Independents. However, money talks, and John & Jane Q. Constituent ain’t got euff of the ready anymore these days. So kiss that idea good-bye.
