Good morning. Have you guys ever had trouble sleeping? Do you sometimes have to get up at night to answer nature’s call and have trouble dropping back off? That happened to me Tuesday night. I got up and it was 2:22 am. I used the bathroom and then laid back down and closed my eyes….and then laid there. And laid there. And laid there. No matter how I tried, I just could not drop back off.
Whenever that happens, I refuse to look at the clock to see how much sleep I’m being deprived of. I have to get up for work at 5:10am in order to get my shower, eat, get dressed and out the door before the traffic becomes too horrible. I usually go to bed around ten or ten thirty so there isn’t a lot of time to waste trying to drop off and normally it doesn’t take more than a few minutes to do so.
So early Tuesday morning, there I was, lying in bed, trying to drop back off. I tried to calm my mind, then I read until my eyes were tired, I even tried counting sheep. I may have gotten a bit dozy toward the end of the night but that wasn’t true sleep, just the gray, hazy area of not quite conscious. Too soon my alarm went off and I had to drag myself out of my bed and get going. Needless to say, I was pretty blah all day long.
Since then, I’ve been sleeping like a baby and normally I’m not insomniac but every now and then something prevents me from sleeping and the events don’t seem to have a common denominator except for the sleep deprivation itself.
Does that ever happen to you and if so, is there a method you use to get some winks? I’m not into narcotics or over the counter sleep aids at all. Once I tried reading an automobile owner’s manual to bore myself to sleep but all I got were red eyes. Sometimes I just can’t mentally shift the gears from wake to sleep. Also I never use caffeine or other stimulants so it’s pretty unlikely that’s the cause. This is also not a recent phenomenon as I remember school days after one of my rare, (but frustrating), sleepless nights.
Maybe a lullaby would help….

I get one of those nights about 2x a year, first thing I try I don’t think I want to share over the intertubes
if that doesn’t work I just get in my car, put top down, take a ride to local convenience store, find something unhealthy, have that
if that doesn’t work no problem since it’s almost time to get up anyway
oh, forgot to say
FITZ!!!
G’morning, m’dear.
It’s been happening to me all too often in the last few weeks. I’m all ears for help. The other night I went to sleep at 10 pm, woke at 1 am and couldn’t fall asleep again until 4am. Some of this has to do, for me, with my hand not having full capability for pulling blanket around me and that taking more time than usual when I wake up to pee in the night.
Thanks, Margaret. What are you doing up?
This is what I take as an opportunity for doing an art post, when it happens as it did this a.m., but I’m past the demand of having to get up and function. Watching CSpan hearings worked pretty well, set just loud enough to hear, then try to concentrate….
zzzz
Good morning pupses! My, this seems to be a common thing. Maybe we’re just old…
Good Morning, Margaret.
I’ve suffered from insomnia most of my life. I can even remember waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep as a child.
Now that I’m not working, this isn’t as much as an issue for me, as I can take an afternoon nap if this happens.
So, I’ve got a list of things to try:
warm milk
cup of herbal tea
reading
relaxation tapes or cd’s – including ocean waves
count my blessings
make lists of things, in alphabetical order.
Rosemary Clooney sings Count Your Blessings
demster! I’ve tried some of those things of course but making lists alphabetically would have the opposite effect for me. Also writing a post. That would just get my brain so engaged that I wouldn’t be able to sleep at all. Still, my experience Tuesday had one benefit: I thought of a topic for this post!
Funny, as I was put to bed early as a child, I remember lying awake for long time periods, inventing elaborate fantasies to escape. Then I did sleep.
If this happens frequently, you might have a sleep disorder, which a doctor that specializes in sleep can diagnose. Are you practicing good sleep hygiene? University of Maryland Medical Center has a good article on it here: http://www.umm.edu/sleep/sleep_hyg.htm . Among OTC sleep aids, you can use melatonin to get your circadian rhythms back in sync, but 1) a sleep doctor is best qualified to help you determine exactly when to take it based on your personal phase response curve, 2) the dosages in OTC melatonin are too high, so you have to use a pill cutter or knife to divide the 3mg pills into halves or thirds, and 3) melatonin should not be used as an immediate sleep aid, but over a period of time as a chemical messenger to realign circadian rhythms.
On top of melatonin in the PM, I use a light box (Sunbox brand, but there are cheaper ones on the market now) in the morning, because I tend towards delayed sleep phase, but that may not be appropriate for your pattern of early waking. Also, based on circadian rhythm research that finds that exposure to blue light spectrums (present in almost all articial light sources such as TV and computer screens and light bulbs) really disrupts circadian rhythms, most nights I pop on a pair of sunglasses that block blue light (BluBlocker brand; not all of their glasses block blue light, so you have to check the description).
This method has been amazing for me as I have had sleep issues since I was a child. In addition, I have a mood disorder that has been linked to circadian dysfunction, and have found that my symptoms are much reduced and that I am able to take much less medication. The trick with sleep problems is not dealing with them reactively, looking for a quick fix when they appear, but creating a sturdy pattern over time of healthy sleep habits.
Hope that helps!
A post not featuring the more disturbing aspects of our world might be better.
Welcome! And thank you for the information. Lots of great information in there. As I pointed out, this doesn’t happen very often, at least not yet and I’m always hesitant to take sleep aids as I might become too dependent on them. I’m just happy I don;t have to do shift work anymore! If I had taken that other job, I would be a monster to get along with!
Ah ha. The silver lining.
You hit on an interesting point in the post. This doesn’t happen every night and I’m not usually able to say why one night is different than the next. Obviously, when there’s something specific that I’m worried or upset over, it’s clear to me what’s up. Worry, worry, worry. And, sometimes when I’ve worked hard physically, I expect to sleep better, and sometimes that works, but not always. I dunno. It’s weird.
Could be Ruth. Sometimes when I can’t sleep, it’s because I have a picture in my mind that I just have to sketch out and sometimes I may have an idea that must be written down, that’s true. Sometimes though, it’s just for no reason at all. On Tuesday for example, I didn’t have a challenging day ahead or anything in my mind that needed expression.
Yep! Sleep cycles are weird. As JLSManning pointed out, there are doctors that specialize in sleep.
Interesting. My son got a couple of degrees in industrial psychology, and chanced over studies about his type, that functions pretty well because of a natural occurrence of serotonin in his system, just genetically.
I still use that fantacizing exercise. I create a scenario I’d like as a dream….walking along the beach is one I use. Or driving on a highway. Watching the road coming at me.
Oh well, tonight might be a good one to have insomnia as the Orionid meteor shower will peak in the predawn hours…
radio — if I wake up after 3, BBC news is on NPR but unfortunately I more commonly wake up at midnight – so I keep some recorded radio shows such as car talk on a cassette tape handy — a friend who has a smartphone uses podcasts if she wakes up — nothing like the human voice but NOT the tv —
I know millions of people listen to Coast to Coast but god I HATE that show.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that the two or three days before the full moon, I often have trouble sleeping.
Or, a night to go to bed early so you’ll be UP for the shower. Thanks for that reminder. I’m gonna look it up so I can know where in the sky to look. It’s another perk of living outside of the city. Nice dark night sky.
Hi Spring Texan. Good ideas. My daughter just sent me her ipod which she isn’t using. I’ll have to see what she’s got loaded on it, and then find some things to add that I can listen to when I need a little Help.
Something educational has always appealed to me, to take advantage of an otherwise lost period, but have never tried it. Trying to keep my eyes open works like reverse psychology.
Good morning, everyone. I have a sleepless night about once every couple of weeks. Usually I lie awake for a couple of hours and then finally drift off and wind up sleeping later than my usual wake up time. Now that I’m retired it really doesn’t matter, but the couple of hours of tossing and turning are maddening. It always happens after I’ve gotten up to use the bathroom, which at my age is usually at least a couple of times a night.
I often have a glass of wine late in the evening. I’m not sure that’s a good or a bad thing. And sometimes I can drift off again if I imagine myself lying in a boat on a lake and being gently rocked by the water.
As it’s the Orionid meteor shower, I’m assuming that it will come from the direction of Orion. ;)
There’s an idea. My mom used to listen to the fishing report. Drove my dad up the wall.
I am hoping someone will stop by with an update on SouthernDragon. PeasantParty said a couple of days ago that he’s still in the hospital but getting stronger.
I woke up last night thinking of all his kittehs and how they must miss “the Dad.”
I have heard other people describe full moon effects on them, it seems some of us are more oriented to that than others.
One would have to know which direction Orion is. I wouldn’t know, but I’m sure I could find it. However, my neighborhood is heavily treed so it is difficult to see much of the sky from my house.
For a sleep aid, a glass of milk (warm or not) or a big piece of cheese can sometimes help. Calcium has a soporific effect. But I’m not sure how quickly it would work — maybe not fast enough to help in the middle of the night.
From your area, look south. Orion is the bright, wonky “T” in the Fall and Winter sky.
Fractional Relaxation.
Uh oh, I’m listening to the youtube now, and I might just drop off now….
Ooooooh. I think I’m going to bookmark this one for my ipod.
But, we have ear buds now. Poor dad.
And see that bright orange ball above and to the left? That’s Betelgeuse, which could go supernova any minute. When it does, people on Earth should get a spectacular view.
Thank you Ms. Smarty Pants. :)
The 3rd debate that liberals are dying to hear.
Yep…I’m sure ear buds are a boon to non insomniac spouses everywhere.
This is Pull Up A Chair, where we avoid discussing politics and policy. You’re welcome to stay and participate but you’ll want to move those topics to another thread.
Thank you.
Now you’re going to have me getting up in the night to watch. Shame.
Might be tough to see in a city anyway Molly. Fortunately I live close enough to the outskirts where it’s just a short drive for me.
Combined with a nice glass of wine, maybe.
I could listen to a fishing report. Doesn’t have to be very interesting. Just not annoying.
My dad used to listen to radio in the middle of the night too. He had an underpillow speaker so my mother wouldn’t be bothered.
Gotta go, but all of you all have a great Saturday and week!
LMAO! Sorry! Just a suggestion of something to do if you can’t sleep!
Thanks for stopping by!
I would think earbuds would make it impossible to sleep, I hate them and have to use headphones but you can’t lie down with those.
Also, if there’s a REASON I can’t sleep like anxiety (fortunately not common for me nowadays), I force myself to concentrate on the talk by picking out the letters of the alphabet in order in what is said . . .
but normally I just listen, enjoy, and get back to sleep
ok, now I really AM leaving and ciao all
Great…thank you. Fun.
I used to eat late so the natural drowsiness I feel after a meal would help me off to sleep. Then I found out that when you’re middle aged, you pack on the weight if you sleep right after a meal.
Molly – I haven’t seen any updates since PP shared on Wednesday or Thursday.
If it were just warm enough to put out a lawn chair and drop off watching.
Mmmmm….that would be nice. Couldn’t do that in a wet area though. The mosquitoes would carry you off!
I’ve been trying to figure out a way to pack on the weight. Ha!
I know PeasantParty and OmAli are in touch with him but I haven’t heard how he or his clowder of kittehs is doing. Sending warm thoughts to (((SD))).
Lurkers…come out, come out, wherever you are.
The commenting slowed way down, huh? Maybe we should get a new topic.
Peanuts are neither peas nor nuts. Discuss….
Good Morning. I had one of those nites last night. Love the pic with the Kitteh.
A Peanut is a legume. It is a bean with protein.
GM, Margaret and all! When we were getting ready for the liquidation, my brothers and I were working HARD every day and then not sleeping well at night. It was grueling. I think we were generally wound up, so resting just did not come easily.
I sometimes have insomnia, but it is not a huge problem. Reading helps.
One thing I notice is that after a full moon there are often a lot of animals that have been hit by cars. I don’t think it is because they can’t sleep, but maybe the brightness of the moon has them on the move more or something like that.
And, why do parents use “peanut” as a nickname?
They’re actually beans, aren’t they?
I put up a post for SD yesterday. Only had three takers. Very disturbing.
Thanks, Peggy. It’s been cloudy and rainy for the past three days, but I think it’s supposed to clear later today and maybe I can go out and look. However, I have no good view south (too many tall trees) unless I get out of this complex. South Bend doesn’t have a lot of “big city” lights, but there is enough ambient light that would mask dimmer stars.
PeasantParty, I owe you a bean. With protein.
Hi ya and how’s it going? Are you still enjoying your dispatch business?
I didn’t see it, PeasantParty. I will go look now.
Maybe they are taking advantage of the light at night, which allows them to forage more effectively?
Legume just strikes me as a wonderful variation of veggie, which I use with a small wince.
Very much. I have trained four new people to investigate land records, do property updates and recordings, and how to record re-financings. We are covering the entire state of NC now.
I can’t speak for others, but maybe because the word economics (forget which word use actually used) confused people, because YSD said she was going to lead a Marx class, substituting for SD. Is that possible?
Isn’t that a cute picture?
LOL. Wince away. I know you are more in favor of the nightshade family such as tomatoes.
I saw a television commercial in which this guy with a think, Texas drawl, (almost certainly fake), used the word “veggies”. I just had to laugh. The Marlboro man would never say “veggies”….
Could be. I was going to use the dreaded Marx word, but decided against it. Should have gone with it.
I know it’s not a solution for everyone (especially in the middle of the night!) but I find I sleep much better when I’ve had a good long bike ride during the day.
According to what I’ve read, you aren’t supposed to exercise in the evening before bed, but during the day is good for sleep, I think.
I have arthritis in my back (well, other places, too) and sometimes I can’t find a comfy sleeping position. I have an appointment for another round of acupuncture next week, and hopefully that will work as well as it did 18 months ago.
absolutely! I can still see in my mind the vision of my boys when they were little cuddled up with their dogs.
I read but didn’t comment. Fridays are hectic for me and I almost never have a chance to sit and discuss things. Sorry!
Excellent news. Good on ya, PP.
Maybe he has a secret tattoo of a carrot…
That pic reminded me of me and my cat. Though she doesn’t sleep on her back like that, she’s the only cat I’ve ever known who likes to be under the covers.
Margaret,
Now that we have some third party candidates we won’t have to write in your name on the ballot. I would still like my vote to go to you.
LMAO! And maybe they pay him a celery…
It’s adorable. And, yes, I thought Oh, that’s Peggy Anne and Neko. Sweet.
Funny, I did have one that loved being under the covers. Had to turn over very carefully in the night.
Thanks! And I haven’t even campaigned!
Oh noes. You’ve borrowed Ruth’s sense of humor. :)
Late to the party here but this sometimes works for me (but not always.)
I lie on my back and try to slow my breathing down, taking long deep breaths. As I do and timing this to the inhale, I start at my toes and mentally say “toes” on the inhale and “relax and go to sleep” on the exhale. Then: Feet, Ankles, shins, calves, knees, thighs, hams, cheeks, waist, lower back, and so on up the body. I think the main thing is getting in the rhythm of the slowed breathing and it usually eventually works out (might have to start over a couple of times but not often
I am 69 years old and have suffered from this type of insomnia for about 10 years. It is a rare night that I don’t wake up and have trouble getting back to sleep. I have been to doctors and psychologists who specialized in sleep. No luck. Tried melatonin and various sleeping pills, prescribed and OTC. In fact I still take them even though they have little or no effect once my brain adjusted to them. I exercise like a banshee and take no caffeine after 3 in the afternoon. Like you it always involves waking up to pee. My younger brother has in the last few years developed the same syndrome. Two things I have not tried is medical marijuana (legal here in Oregon) and taking a prescribed diuretic in the afternoon to try to eliminate the nightly bathroom trips. I have a pretty strong hunch it is a symptom of old age brain function loss. I am fortunate to be retired.
My son and DIL have a big furry gray and white cat named Cooper. He often stretches out on the floor on his back, legs fully splayed wide. He sometimes sleeps like that. It is too funny.
Now I need to get outta this chair and on with my day. I have bread dough rising that I’ll knead-rise-bake later, and I’m headed out to breakfast and Farmer’s Market. Have a great weekend, everyone.
I prefer the non-billionaire type representation. (grins)
Good Morning Margaret & InsomniaPupses:
Um…lemme think about that. Does last night count?
At least there is nothing too pressing with which I must contend on the practical-affairs-of-everyday-life radar. Today’s scenario would be in stark contrast to those occasions on which I have nasty spells of insomnia that directly precede a morning mandate which (among other things) requires me to arise at some unholy hour (including that dog-forsaken “daylight savings time” adjustment). (As an aside, when I finally do manage to fall into a somewhat peaceful slumber, the importunate strains of the alarm jam me into a semi-conscious state wherein I begin engaging the morning by muttering endless streams of Anglo-Saxon invective and pretty much cursing the day I was born (and or Willard, ZEGS, Alan Simpson, etal). This mindset invariably hangs over me like a pall throughout the entire day.)
If that makes any sense whatsoever. As I said, I did have a pretty good spell mere hours ago.
So I guess the short answer would be…um…Yup.
Yep. If I bump Kuroneko, I get the dirtiest look.
Some folks call that fractional relaxation. See my #32.
I think you found a good technique, Dakine.
Morning, Dakine.
I’ve tried that some too. I also try to imagine floating in a pool or lake.
That sounds like a practical, calming solution. Thanks! I’ll try that.
How’s Dan’l?
Speaking of Kuroneko..What a little Cutie.
At least it’s on loan, not a lease. Can’t resist a laugh.
Thanks for sharing and welcome!
I have a similar technique. I lie on my back, close my eyes and imagine being run over by a bus. It sorta works…well, not including the nightmares, of course.
Have a great one Molly!
Hey ya, Shoto.
And, since you mentioned Daylight Savings Time, is this the weekend we “fall back”?
Hi Shoto! Welcome to the party!
LOL! I think all Progressives feel that way daily.
Actually, I’ve had a very similar sense of humor most of my life. But due to popular demand, I almost never employ those kind of puns anymore.
Sounds like you need to try dakine01 method. It couldn’t hurt. Now that it’s been described, I remember a long ago gym class in relaxation, that taught us a very similar technique. I usually did drift off.
Thanks! Right now she’s on the monitor, trying to ignore my typy fingers. I need to go back to a flat screen. That’ll irritate her!
He’s sitting in the front window right now, lord of all he surveys (fortunately the cat next door is not out at this time tormenting him)
Hey donbeal,
Medical MJ will definitely help with that. If you can get a script easily try it. Of course make sure to have some snacks handy.
Try a soft, smiling bright colored foam bus.
I learned that technique in acting classes in college.
I think the fall back is the first full weekend in November nowadays
We’ve had some people coming to work impaired and the boss is making noises about drug testing people so I’m laying of that for now. If this were any thread but PUAC, I would now go into a tirade about how I feel about both drug testing and marijuana laws. I’m not a fan of people coming to work impaired but it’s none of my boss’s business what I do at home. Period.
I think it’s a few weeks out. DST is one of the most idiotic concepts ever invented. If people are hell-bent on getting up an hour earlier, then they can just get up an hour earlier. Why do they have to drag me into their stupid fiction? (Nor does that trick o’ the clock fool the cows and roosters for a moment.)
Mmmmmmm…..I always enjoy the fall back. It’s the spring forward that makes me want the system abolished.
She’s sounds like a good helper. Maestro is right here with me, also.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. I’m off to drive Miss Daisy. She has shopping to do.
Nor does it fool Neko. She’s get me up that Sunday morning, licking my face and wondering wtf her food is.
Let me make a note of that: “Soft, smiling bright colored foam bus…” Yeah, that just might work.
I apologize for being late.
You’re right. This year it’s November 4th. That’s too bad, ’cause it’s better for the little kids to have it darker earlier for Halloween, especially when it’s on a school night.
Thanks for coming by.
Copy that.
No apology necessary you silly. :)
“…wondering wtf her food is….”
That sounds very familiar. Ha!
Yep. If the system ever is abolished, there will be riots if the don’t settle on a return to standard time. Give us one last fall back and then don’t fuck with the clocks again!
Anyone else watching Melissa Harris-Perry? I love those Francis books. Read them to my littles many, many times.
Have a good trip and visit.
PW has a new post up, discussing the Republican voter suppression efforts. They are committing the very crimes they have long accused left leaning voters of. I’ve always wondered how people like that sleep at all.
Gonna head upstairs to see what PW is up to, after which I need to do a few light errands. Once that segment has been lined through, I intend to catch up on a few movies and TeeVee shows that are cued up on the electric DVR machine box contraption. (“Homeland” is one of them. Claire Danes is turning in performances that are dialed up to Eleven. Just…whoa.) Catch up with y’all later.
You got my vote….early and often.
If it doesn’t work, you left out the part about ‘playing soft uncomplicated music.”
Listened while doing a few dishes, charming.
That’s another thing I do if I really can’t get back to sleep. Go into the kitchen and wash any dishes or counters that I didn’t do. Always nicer to wake up to a clean kitchen.
But I have to get some stuff done, am going off line now. I believe it’s the standard family values stuff, doing the wrong thing is protecting My Family … from You People.
Peggy, thank you for hosting this morning’s PUAC. You found a real nice topic, although I’m sorry what you suffered through for the inspiration.
It’s always a great way to start my Saturday, sharing and hanging out with friends.
Thanks everyone. Smile. Help others and have a peaceful weekend.
Who wakes up?
Now I’m really off. Thanks to all the good company.
Hear Hear. I hate DST. I’ve lived on front and back end of time zones. and it sucks either way.
Thanks everybody for great conversation and helpful suggestions. I’ve got to get going on some chores as I have friends coming into town today. I’ll be in and out for a while. You don’t have to leave of course so please feel free to continue the discussion as long as you want. I hope everybody has a wonderful weekend. :)
This fantasy works for me:
Picture yourself walking up to a skyscraper, the top of which is so high, you can’t see it (I have a picture I took in NYC of this: white sky swallowed the building top- I was trying to get the traffic signal above us on the top deck of the tour bus)
As you walk in the lobby, it’s a neutral scene. Walk to the elevator and go down a flight. The door opens and the things that worry you and make you tense are there for the viewing. The door closes and opens on to the neutral scene for a moment. Then the second floor has something you like (dancing with your friends at a club), then the third floor has something else that’s soothing to your soul (wow, dang, they fit a nice beach and sunshine here) and so on through the floors of happy things until the sandman takes over.
That sounds nice. Thank you. :)
OH Yeah – it is a pain when that happens. Last night it did for me also and it was because the toilet flusher I supposedly fixed was still leaking and it made a noise.
So I went to the internet and found out that our toilet is famous for leaking flappers.
Then – and this is what I usually do – I turn on my internet radio, park myself horizontal on the couch, put on my ear phones and tune in to NPR. They have become so bland that it puts me to sleep within minutes.
Thanks grumps and welcome!
Oh, and, Peg, I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends.
Morning Pups,
Sorry I’m late to breakfast, just woke up. 9:15 AM my time.
I understand no politics, but a huge debate issue in my marriage was my ability to count to five and be sound asleep by number three and solidly for the whole night. Absolutely could not defend how that illustrated my lack of caring about anyone but myself. ;-)
These days moderate physical work, a mental exercise of at least an hour of reading, three small regular meals each day, minimal snacking, a nice cup of tea about 9:00 PM and then actually going to bed as I start to feel drowsy, and I’m asleep for the evening.
I have trained for a power nap after lunch, now that I am old enough to qualify for the Wednesday, senior discount at the supermarket. After a light lunch recline in the lounger (or the driver seat in the car, if a prepared lunch at work) use something to cover my eyes, sometimes a soft black sock at home, instantly off for exactly 15 minutes and it is a new (afternoon) day.
Thanks Margaret and nice seeing everyone well rested today.
You do know that NPR understands that you and others do this and have begun using subliminal indoctrination techniques to get you to contribute at their fund-raising events.
Hi nonny. Hope you’re doing well these days!
Late to the party.
PP, thanks for the update on SD, am going there now.
Margeret, Great topic. I have no regular sleep patterns and have struggled as a worrier most of life. I have found if I try to do high level analysis during these periods that the scenarios I sketch out help me during the day. A creative time so to speak.
I have to exhaust myself physically and mentally before I get a full nights rest.
Good morning Margaret,
Things are as well as can be, saved up and splurged with the monthly budget for some work related travel yesterday. Beautiful scenery, highly educational seminar and some very nice people that could potentially be longer term professional acquaintances. Waiting for a break in our trending mini-monsoon season here (very much needed), to be able to finish the fall planting.
The Best,
Sorry I missed this.
Love you all.
Have a great weekend!
Hi Kris. Tell your folks and family hi!
From personal experience, being able to maintain a regular sleep pattern demands absolute adherence to my rule of consuming nothing caffeinated after noon. Your reactions may vary. I think the sun is attempting to show itself. Laters.
I wake up once a night, too. It’s around 3 AM. One aspirin then does the trick. Without it I don’t go back to sleep.
My doc had recommended to take one aspirin a day anyway. So 3 AM is when I do it, and I get to kill two birds with one pill. Don’t have to count them junping the fence anymore.
I don’t know how to write this in a way that won’t be considered crude, but the best solution is implied in the (grammatically incorrect) use of the word “laid” here — just “get yourself off” and then you’ll sleep like a baby.
Sorry to disagree with what appears to be majority opinion, but I like DST. When I was working I still had lots of daylight left to be outside. But then, except for the couple of years between my move to Indiana and the state’s reluctant adoption of DST, I’ve always had it. I will be sorry to see Nov. 4th come.
