this is just one more reason for states to offer legally enforceable domestic contracts and to get out of the marriage racket altogether. let the churches have marriage, which is strictly religious by its very nature. just make sure that religious ceremonies like marriage confer no secular benefits such as heir designation or favorable tax status.

wanna be married? find a church and get married. wanna set up a legal framework for your heirs and relatives? that must be a separate legal, not religious, function. -
