Hugs Christy, much love and appreciation for your grace and kindness and razor-sharp mind. I’m sending healing thoughts your way.
I hope this will make you laugh:

Maybe so. I prefer to save my schadenfreude for people who deserve it like George W. Bush or Barack “grand bargain” Obama.

Why don’t you go to your blog and do a post about this subject?

That is fascinating. I didn’t know there were mound builders in OK. I was only familiar with the burial mounds in Ohio. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serpent_Mound

I’m going to bookmark this thread!

My contribution is a black bean lime salsa soup:

2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
    1/2 cup or more salsa
some diced green canned chiles if you have them
    onion
    garlic
1 can chicken or veg. broth
salt and pepper, chile powder, cumin, any other spice you desire
    1 lime

Saute the diced onion and garlic and spices.
Add beans, salsa and chiles, salsa and broth.
bring to boil, then simmer 15 min or so. You can mash some of the beans if you want. Finally add lime juice.

Yes me too. I guess “My wife and myself” sounds genteel or something, but it’s dead wrong. “My wife and I went to…” etc. is perfectly fine.

These people are nuts. Or maybe I should say they’re brainwashed.
I heard a group of people in Columbus on election night say, as they listened to Obama speak after he won re-election:

“Listen to him! He don’t even speak English!”
    Oh–kay…..

I wonder if he ever stops to think of how that medicine came to exist in the first place. He needs a very simple explanation/demonstration (I’m actually thinking along the lines of Schoolhouse Rock “I’m Just a Bill”) that shows how taxes fund schools, universities, research facilities, education of doctors and researchers, grants for developing new medicines, etc. Not to mention clean water, reliable power source, and so on. He is incredibly lucky.

I wish people who want guns would move to Somalia or somewhere far, far away. But I guess that isn’t fair to innocent Somalis.
I have a couple of childhood friends who are freaking out about this. I am no longer terribly sympathetic; except that I see they had a hard upbringing that made them feel unsafe without a gun. That is sad and I’m sorry for them, but my safety and the safety of others comes before their desire to own big guns.

Now, that’s a slur on those good graphics departments. Neither Highlights nor My Weekly Reader ever made its people look like they’re suffering from Bell’s Palsy at best, stroke at worst.
