Scarecrow commented on the blog post Obama Doesn’t Rule Out Raising the Medicare Eligibility Age in Barbara Walters Interview
Shades of the betrayal on the public option? For months during the ACA secret negotiations, Obama talked about how the public option was a great idea. But he had already secretly given it away to the private health industry. It was a complete con to keep ACA supporters who wanted to keep the public option alive as a path to Medicare for all. But they were betrayed, and the White House continued to deny it. Have we being had again? History suggests, yes.
There is no integrity in this White House, and yet they still ask their followers to call and write letters to support them. As though returning tax rates on the rich to prior levels is a logical trade off to risking health car for hundreds of thousands is fair and balanced. It’s mindless, illogical, cruel and dishonest.

Excellent summary and description of the corruption that masquerades as free enterprise. I suspect there is a close parallel with excessively long drug patents and non compete agreements.

Excellent panel in DC yesterday on the phoniness of the “deficit crisis. The presentation slide show should be required viewing for White House and Congress, and media, who mostly didn’t show up.

The “balanced” approach never made any sense. Cuts to everyone to their SS! Medicare, Medicaid are not balanced by more taxes on the wealthy. The claim is just stupid. It’s incredible that Dems have been arguing for something this illogically incoherent and the media didn’t say it’s incoherent. That’s separate from the elites all falling [...]

Its helpful to distinguish which parts of the mis-named “cliff” we are describing. Yes, the automatic across the board spending cuts in the insane sequester from 2011, one of the most irresponsible measures our irresponsible Congress passed would devastate many worthwhile programs, including environmental. On the other hand, allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire [...]

Scarecrow commented on the blog post Petraeus Resigns From CIA, Citing Affair
He had to resign. You can’t have the head of a super secret intelligence agency in a compromised position that’s both secret to most, but must have been known by others.

Scarecrow commented on the blog post CIA Head David Petraeus Resigns in Scandal
One wonders how long the head of the world’s most secretive intelligence agency thought he could keep this secret? And the right will now turn on their former hero and ask, when did the White Housek know?

Scarecrow wrote a new diary post: Nate Silver Rumored for Treasury Secretary or OMB Head
Rumors are spreading this a.m. that the reality-based number cruncher at the New York Times , Nate Silver, may soon be appointed to a high position in the Obama Administration.** Silver successfully humiliated the entire D.C. center-right pundit class and Fox News by nailing the polling and the high probability of an Obama election victory by looking [...]

Looks like Colorado has been called for Obama.
Meanwhile Romney team not conceding they’ve lost Ohio.
Dem Heinrich wins Senate seat in NM; but Jeff Flake wins in Arizona, defeating Carmona. Too bad.

Feeling good, so far. Thanks for asking.
Politically, my worries get refocused; the fight that matters starts tomorrow. We’re still losing that on inequality, climate, jobs, infrastructure, rule of law stuff that matters, what needs to be fixed and what to do. Tonight was mostly about keeping something even worse from happening in enabling more crazies and more denial about reality. JMO. -
