  • Throw a billion dollars a year a anything and you’d get something. The quality of the something is very suspect.

How are these results measured? If its mission and means are secret, how does we know it accomplished its mission? Especially given its predilection to lie.

I posted this in the comment of another diary:

The police backlash will be brutal (probably by replacing their cars with up armored Hummers), and will become more aggressive and ready to kill on sight.

The response by communities who see the police as the enemy will be more of these attacks.

All I can foresee is a death spiral of violence and killing, and the police become more violent in response to attacks, and attackers become more violent in response to unchecked police violence.

At the root of this is the phrase:

Not only must Justice be done, justice must be seen to be done

and the perception after the latest killings is we have neither justice, nor a clear display of justice.

I’d expect this to spread, and if a banker would be concerned about my personal safety if (when) there is another financial or banking crash I fear for my safety if I were a banker.

On further thoughts: The loss of faith in the Justice System and a “firm response” of the authorities could tip communities over the edge of mass violence, community vs community (as exhibited by armed whits on the rooftops in Ferguson). How faith in the Justice System is to be restored is a question of leadership — a quality that does not appear in abundance in DC.

At what point does such an outcome – massive repression begats massive retaliation, and so on in a downward spiral – lead to Martial law, Civil War, or both?

Exactly right. You don’t actually leave “footprint” when you access a system.

I notice the FBI is slow to release their “proof” for public inspection, and we do know our 3 letter agencies are paragons of truth.

I suggest we use the term “Neo-Liberal Bed,” instead of Neo-Liberal Corner.

It has a more appropriate sleazy feel to its use.

  • Neville Chamberlain was no fascist appeaser by nature, but a politician, a man, who did not want a repeat of the Great War.

One of the best quote’s I’ve ever read about the Great War, WWW I was by Tolkien:

“At the end of the war only one of my closest friends was alive.”

What would you do in those circumstances? I doubt I could do better than Chamberlain.

What drives this huge diaspora? The looting of Africa’s diamonds and oil by huge corporations.

Actually, it is lack of rule of law. South Africa currently has the best rule of law on the continent.

Tanks to the example set by the Afrikaners.

I have a hard time accepting Obama (The President), as a victim of the system. Obama seems to present the “they made me do it” defense frequently. It is more hollow than the discredited “I was just following orders” defense. At some point one has to accept “The Buck Stops here” for the top position, [...]

Is the United States fascist? Is it becoming a Fascist state? Such accusation are freely offered, and thrown around, often without the discussion of the full meaning a Fascism. We need to start with a definition, because the term ‘fascist’ is often misused, leading to confusion. Here’s what George Orwell said, in 1944:

    …the word ‘Fascism’ [...]
